  1. I loaded Windows 10 this morning on my Toshiba lap top without any problems...using it now.  B

    Glock 43

Got a 43...love it, shoots great, accurate and reliable...considered lc9s pro and Kahr cm9...I went with the 43 because I already had the Glock 19 and have had no problems with it. Highly recommend the 43. B
  3. I got the same call this evening.  I let the guy talk for a while and was sort of jabbing at him...I knew it was a scam as soon as the caller ID showed the number.  He kept saying he wasn't going to sell me anything and he worked for Microsoft and he got a warning about my computer, yada, yada.  I finally asked for his phone number and told him I would call him back and he immediately hung up :).  One more reason I'm thinking of deleting my home phone and only having cell phones.  Best Wishes, B

    New toy.

I'm assuming that's a 686-5?  IS it 6 or 7 rounds?  I have the 686-4P and it is my favorite gun of all time.  Beautiful...
  5. I have the Glock 19 and 43.  Way over 1000 rounds in the 19 and it has been absolutely perfect and no issues.  Around 350 - 400 rounds in the 43 and it has been absolutely perfect and no issues.  I have had numerous other guns and most of them jammed from time to time.  For that reason I didn't feel comfortable carrying them or depending on them and sold them all.  Once a gun shuts down I don't want it.  I love revolvers because of their reliability and thought I would always be carrying a revolver...until I bought a Glock.  I have come to trust Glocks...they are not pretty guns to me...just a chunk of plastic and not much to look at.  But if I want a gun to reliably and accurately shoot all the rounds and function 100% it's gotta be a Glock.  In my book, if you want reliability you get a revolver or a Glock.  B
  6. Hey, don't think I didn't worry about that.  I went to UT back in the 80's and I always felt Alabama was our biggest rival.  Oh well, when I got the holster I'll post an image :)   B
  7. Must respectfully disagree with these statements. Of course there will be some very small folks who wouldn't be able to get a little .22 baby gun in their front pocket, or maybe they have painted on designer jeans, but Hickok45 carried the 43 in his front pocket using an Alabama Holster (see Youtube). It is a very small gun that is very thin and light...I tried it in the store without a holster and it is in the same range as my 642 (which is probably the most popular pocket gun in the US). I ran several drills with it last weekend using a different pocket holster and it worked perfectly every time without any issues. I certainly think it is appropriate and won't be a problem for a majority of the population. If it doesn't work for some reason with the Alabama holster I'll go IWB, but I expect it will be fine. Anyway, I never questioned the size of the gun - those measurements are all over the internet and the gun is readily available at gun stores to try for yourself (or not). My only question was how best to carry this small gun in a front pocket and I think several have agreed with and confirmed what Hickock45 recommended...that's the way I'm headed. Thanks for the helpful and positive input guys, B
  8. As far as being too big to pocket carry, I tried it at the gun store (with their permission :)) and it is fine.  I am 6'-4" and 330 pounds...I could pocket carry a 2 liter coke :)!   B
  9. Thanks...ordered the Alabama holster...will try to post a photo once it arrives
  10. Picked up a Glock 43 on Saturday and ran several hundred rounds through it on Sunday (flawless by the way)...love this little gun so far. I did accidentally hit the mag release one time with my thumb but that was my fault - the gun seems to be 100% reliable. Now my question - I have a 19 that I carry OWB in a couple different holsters, but would prefer to "pocket carry" this 43. Our buddy Hickock45 recommended Alabama Holsters - they have a Kydex holster for around $40 that has a big hook on the bottom to grab your pocket when withdrawing the weapon...that should work (see photo below). Has anybody here tried anything else? As a last resort I suppose I could do IWB carry, and I do that with some other guns, but really wanted to pocket-carry this little fella. Thanks in advance, B!
  11. Scored 14 - I'll never make it without regular Express Scripts deliveries to my bug out shelter!  :)
  12. Oh, one more thing!  If you already have a case (like your Pelican) they can custom fit the foam insert to that case.  No need to buy a new case!  B
  13. I also have always wanted a good gun case, but could never get the pick and pluck to work for me. I ordered a new case with custom cut foam insert after seeing the vendor at the NRA show in Nashville. Something like $100 for the case and the foam. Paid a little extra for a "do over" option in case it didn't turn out right, but it was right the first time. It was just a hair tight around the grip on the 686 and the Crimson Trace grip on the 642 so I used a Dremel tool to take off just a little bit of foam. I used their software and it already had a couple of my guns set up in the program (642 and G19). For the others I took photos and digitized them in the software (traced around the gun to scale). It is an awesome case. Hopefully this link will get you there and the software they use is "my case builder". I've included a couple of photos of the case, and maybe one of my dog slipped in there too :). Best wishes, B
  14. I wondered the same thing.  When we got the new law regarding automatic knives it went into effect on July 1st...seems like most of these things have been effective on July 1st.  I tried doing some internet searches but couldn't find anything definitive.  Perhaps there was one thing that said if there was a 2/3 majority in the legislature, then the governor's signature enacted the law immediately, but I'm just not sure.  Can somebody answer this?  Several folks are ready to carry in parks, and it would be a good thing, but I want to make sure there's no delay until July 1st.  Best wishes, B
  15. I tried the pistol grip...couldn't hit anything.  I like 00 Buckshot and I have a light on my shotgun.  But the pistol grip...no.   Best wishes, B
  16. If you look at the NRA-ILA website regarding the meeting at 1 PM today, Sarah Palin's photo is no longer shown and her name has been removed from the speakers.  Here is a little blurb I found on the internet, but it does not give any reasons: http://www.kptv.com/story/28755677/sarah-palin-cancels-appearance-at-nra-convention   We're still going...there are a lot of speakers I want to see (and the exhibits) but I really did want to see Sarah.   Hope to see you all there,  B
  17. My wife and I are going on Friday morning, spending the night and maybe go back on Saturday for a while before returning to Knoxville Saturday afternoon.  Very fired up!  B
  18. My wife and I will be there Friday and maybe Saturday...spending the night a couple blocks away. Looking at the NRA site last night, I believe they make the statement that you are welcome to legally carry at the convention but not next door at Bridgestone Arena. Somebody double check me on that... B Here is what is on their website... During the 2015 NRA Annual Meeting & Exhibits, lawfully carried firearms will be permitted in the Music City Center with the proper license in accordance with Tennessee law. Bridgestone Arena prohibits the possession of firearms. When carrying your firearm, remember to follow all federal, state and local laws.
  19. I get atrial fibrillation (irregular heartbeat) from time to time. Sometimes caused by stress, chocolate, caffeine, booze...it can make you light headed, and if really bad I suppose you could pass out. What you described sort of feels like that could be it, but only a doctor can tell for sure. Worst thing is they will probably order a treadmill test -hate those. If that is your problem they may try diet, exercise or even meds for when it gets out of rhythm. Just said a prayer for you...let us know what the doc says. Best wishes, B
  20. I went there one time do shoot with some friends, and one of them happens to be a Knoxville Police Officer. He had his gun and badge on his belt and they demanded he NOT go to the range with the loaded gun on his belt, police or not. We looked at the guy like he was an idiot. My friend complied with the TWRA rules, but isn't it sort of bad business to disarm cops? That was the last time I ever went there because I felt they were a little off center and they made me uncomfortable. Best wishes, B
  21. Went to Nashville Armory. Big and nice but mostly seemed like m&p's. Probably just my perception but appeared to be geared toward police and tactical stuff. Nice store though...strange little road to get there but I'm glad I went. Thanks for the replies. B
  22. I'm in Nashville today...any "must see" huge gun stores? Thanks, B
  23. We have a 238...doesn't like some types of ammo.  It likes ball ammo and Corbon hollow points with Barnes copper bullets.  Small, solid, like a little 1911.  I've tried Kahrs in 9mm and found them to be outstanding guns...some have said they like their 380's and that should be a very solid recommendation too.  My wife likes the 238 because she can rack the slide...most of them she can't.  So, try several and see what fits best.  Best wishes, B
  24. We have two dobies and two chihuahuas. The dobies are very protective of our house, but the smallest chihuahua is the one most likely to bite, lol. My dobies are laying on the couch with me asleep watching tv...they love me (and I them) more than N any dogs I've ever had!
