Ended up picking up a m39 mosin from a friend. It is the model with the hex receiver. The only problem is that his dad sporterized it several years ago and never completely finished the job. I have wanted a mosin for a long time and couldn't turn it down for the price but I wish it was still in its factory configuration. Now I'm trying to figure out which direction to go with it. I suppose the only choice I have is to finish the sporter job. I'm just glad I finally have a mosin .

Handled one of these today at my lgs. The trigger seemed to be better on it that others have reported. I put some money down on it and will have it soon. I will report back after some trigger time.

If I'm not mistaken I think a bought some that was specifically made for rimfire.

I understand about the craziness keeping you sane. I hate to hear about your eldest. It's amazing how they become members of the family. I started out with a a catahoula leopard and he was my one and only dog. On thanksgiving day 2 years ago I rescued a husky female from my trash bag neighbor that was gonna run her over with his car because he was tired of feeding her. So now a have a catahoula leopard, a husky , and 5 catahoula leopard/husky pups. They are a diverse bunch to say the least lol.

I have 7 dogs of my own so I can appreciate the dedication and love for animals that it involves to take on that many pups. You guys are doing an awesome job.

That is a very nice weapon for sure. I have just started getting into the 300 blackout myself and seeing this makes me want to sbr my 10.5in ar pistol. Very nice!

When you push the button do you hear any noise that sounds like it is trying to engage?

Beautiful gun. I had one almost identical to it a year or so ago. The owner of a shop that I frequent in south Pittsburg is a huge s&w fan and I let him talk me out of it. Still kinda regret it.
