I shoot .38s in my S&W TRR8 revolver almost exclusively. Its very accurate and very enjoyable.

For every day carry its hard to beat a Glock. Mag capacity, reliability, lightweight, simpliciy and accuracy make them my go to. Sure there are other very capable pistols in all shapes and sizes but Glock just has a lot of positives for me.

Love Talon grips, but all mine are the rubber texture.

Well it was the 1st terrorist attack in the country in 50 years. I think they responded very well. Of course it will not end terrorism. But it reflects a well-trained group of law enforcement from their leadership down to the troops carrying out the response. They assembled an army to respond to the attack and got the situation handled. Great job in my opinion.
-
They responded quickly. They brought a significant number of police, military and special units and got the job done. Pretty impressive how they handled that situation. From what I understand there were two different hostage situations and all the bad guys are dead, with limited if any civilian casualties. I realize there is a lot of information yet to be revealed, but it appears they did a heck of job in this terrorist attack.

Yes, but there is a BIG difference between open roads and single track trails thru the woods. Sure you can ride/drive any street legal vehicles on the roads on the Cherokee National Forest or any other National Park in the US.
-
Back in my teens (70s) we rode in the Cherokee National Forest. There were trails all thru the mountains. Single-track type trails that were shared by bikers/hikers and horses. There were also a ton of jeep trails. Back in those days the mountains were full of Yamahas, Hondas, Ossas, Hodakas, Suzukis and other trail bikes. Then the tree hugging began and the National Forest slowly began to shut down. I think it began with "your motorcycle has to be street legal and have a spark arrestor". Then eventually the trails were off limits to all motorized vehicles. This is just in the National Forest areas. I guess there are other mountain areas that are open to off road vehicles.

KTM makes some two-strokes that have tons of torque and low end pulling power. They might be a little advanced for a beginner though. I have ridden off-road for 45 years. The only difficult thing about it these days is finding a place to ride. Not much public land available anymore. The national forests have long been a no go. The last off-road riding I did was on a large tract of leased property.

The older ones with the white spacer between the buttplate and stock bring higher dollars. Vent ribs bring more dollars as well. Full choke, plain barrels probably bring less than any. A very nice one with vent rib barrel and open chokes would bring $600.

Thanks for all the replies so far. I was thinking a shotgun because of the versatility. Swap the slug barrel for a turkey barrel, etc. I don't deer hunt so a rifle seemed less appealing. I have always been a big shotgun fan.
-
Anyone have any experience with shotguns with rifled slug barrels? I think they would be perfect for coyote hunting. They should work great out to at least 100 yards. Any experiences out there? Benelli, Remington, Browning, Winchester, Mossberg and even H&R offer them and I imagine dealers don't stock them.

I think we will see a single stack 9MM from Glock fairly soon. Glock is a smart company. They can see the success of the S&W Shield and they know Glock fans are wanting this pistol. I want one!

3" revolvers are the cat's meow! But I would opt for a Smith like this one- http://www.smith-wesson.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product4_750001_750051_765646_-1_757767_757751_757751_ProductDisplayErrorView_Y

10 ga OLD Winchester Ranger paper shells.
rbishop replied to Randall53's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
If they were in their original box, the box would be where the value was at, depending on brand, condition and rarity. -
Read all the books. A new one was recently released. Cruise would not have been my pick for the movie, but I can't think of anyone else in Hollyland that could portray him like the books do.

I do like a Colt, but there isn't a thing wrong with a S&W! :usa:
-
If you think you don't like revolvers DO NOT shot a S&W Performance Center revolver. I have a 325 TR, .45ACP and a 327 R8, eight shot .357. They are the sweetest shooting handguns around!
-
A couple of the new guns appear to be having issues. Glock 42 first, now the R51. Discouraging.
-
I was told not to expect them til mid year. My LGS told me that.
-
Nice looking pistol!
-
What about the Judge or Governor that shoots .410 and 45 Long colt? I don't have one, they never appealed to me, but I have a friend who wears one on his farm daily.

StormLake Barrel for Glock 41 Gen4 - Range Report Added
rbishop replied to The Legion's topic in Handguns
Looking forward to a report. That pistol has my interest. -
I had one in .22 caliber that I kept for a long time. The .22s are much harder to find, but a nice .38 is also a good find. Proofhouse.com will give you the serial number ranges. The prices for these were so favorable that alot of counterfeits were made by re-barreling Colt New Service revolvers. So you have to be sure and check serial numbers and front sights, etc to be sure you get the real deal. That pistol was one of many sold to the gov't for guards on the mail railways. Great revolver!

Blows my mind that people are on gunbroker paying in excess of $700 for a .380 Glock!
