  1. plan like you will live forever, live like today is your last!!
  2. wow, this thread could get deep. again i retreat to the "free will of man", being given to ability to make his/her own choices. do i believe that if someone shoots at me will the bullet somehow miraculously be stopped just because i believe God will protect me, pa-lee-se! i think those types of miracles stopped a long time ago. "even though i walk through the valley of the shadow of death, i will fear no evil, for though are with me....". trusting in God, fearing no evil, carrying my XD
  3. that calvinistic theory is one of the oldest and toughest to address, i do believe when its my time to go, its my time to go. if i'm faced with one of the situations you mentioned and survived, then it wasn't my time to go!
  4. don't abandon that theory. remember "free will of man". remember some people just expect others to take care of them, this sometimes includes the man above, thinking "if i have faith, i'll be ok", well, i believe the man upstair will take care of me, i just hope he holds my hands steady if i ever have to face that reality!
  5. can anyone tell me where i can find a pix of the TCA 39-17-1359 sign concerning legal posting of no carry?
  6. even if something happens, what's the worse that would happen? you are then in HIS presence and therefore never have use for firearms again:up:
  7. I am a FIRM believer that the good Lord has given the ability to make important decisions concerning our lives and the lives of those we are entrusted with. While I have faith that He truely watches after me and protects me, I also think He requires me to use the noggin he gave me and make choices that require my action as well. Protecting yourself from BG's I belive is one of those choices. Simply saying "I trust God will protect me" imho is naive. I therefore trust God to "Guide me" in ALL situation, even to the point of pointing a weapon.
  8. excellent read, i recommend it for all trying to make those critical decisions concerning firearm size, etc.
  9. jwp, what is your take on the kel-tec pf9? i understand it is a small pocket pistol ideal for pocket or purse carry. forgive me, i'm still a newbee on handguns. does cca have one for sale or to rent (to make sure b4 purchase)? i am interested for both my wife and sister who want to carry a smaller firearm. i would prefer a 9mm for my wife since i currently own a 9mm (don't have to purchase two types of ammo!). your thoughts pelase-

    XD Owners!

xd-9, 4" service, my first - love to shoot it. I did my homework AFTER i made the purchase, it was a good pick. I use blazier brass, fmj, 8.97/50 @ wally's. started with wwb 19.97/100 @ wally's. doubletap +p hollow point when its protecting us at home. wally's seems to have the best ammo price around for plinking. haven't found any cheaper for the quantity i purchase. looking to purchase another springfield by years end, maybe the xdm
  11. seems like there are many opinions on whats best to carry. seems like buying a car, the more people you ask, the more confused you get on which model to purchase. As a first time gun owner, i consulted a friend and thought a 9mm would be best to carry. i since purchased a 9mm, the grip was fine and it shot well with little recoil. now i'm not a gun expert, but seems to me if you hit a target enough times in the right place, who cares what you carry?? i have also found that when asking about whats the best ammo, again, many different opinions. I have chosen wwb or blazer brass to plinking, mostly because its cheaper and seem clean. i have chosen doubletap hollow point for personal protection. as i become more experienced with shooting, i may change my mind but for now, its a 9mm with 16 double stack mag. so, fire away at me and tell me why i should carry something else, again - most people are brainwashed by the hollywood types and the one shot mentality. not me, i know if that day ever happens, i will only be half as good as i am on the range. so, point & click, click, click, click....till there ain't no mo!

  14. Thought I'd done this earlier, apparently not, but if I've duplicated, my apologies. Purchased my first hand gun earlier this week, looking forward to practice. Any and all advice is welcomed.
  15. thinking about it for some time, election was the final straw. Springfield XD 9mm, still has the new smell. Can't wait to go to the range. New gun owner here, any and all advice is welcomed. Just purchased a couple of days ago Winchester WB ammo for practice. Will purchase Hornady TAP for protection. Oh, and thanks to the guy in this organization who was very helpful in my decision on not only purchasing a handgun, but also actually helping (or should I say "picking) one out for me. I do not remember his screen name, but he knows who he is and will quickly identify himself to me. Thanks and I am looking forward to being a part of this forum.
