Although any loss of life is tragic how is this any worse than the killings that go on, in greater number every day in Chicago? Detroit ? What about the near daily killings here in Memphis ? Why does this shooting warrant national attention? Maybe it does because a LEO was killed and that to me is the saddest part of what happened. Is the fact that it happened near Texas A&M relevant to the story ? The way this is being reported is just another attack against us, the gun owners of America.

Lester, I cannot load a round without ending up with a cocked hammer. Only DAO autos can but I'm sure you know that. Your explanation of de-cocking the pistol after a defensive shooting is a very valid point. I wasn't thinking about it that way, I was thinking about easing the hammer down with my thumb while the pistol was pointed in a safe direction. Thank you for that.

3 years ago my sister bought me a Beretta PX4 for my birthday. I love everything about it except for that ugly de cocker. Why is it needed? The PX4 is SA/DA so no need to carry it with the hammer cocked. 1911's don't have a de cocker. The 20 gauge break open that was the first gun I ever shot didn't have a de cocker. DA/SA revolvers don't have a de cocker. Why have them ?

I can see Crimson and Mav's point on this. If he was still indeed a United States citizen he was denied his 5th amendment rights and illegally executed without due process of law. Was he or was he not a citizen of the U.S. ? All of the info I have found on the web is clear as mud on this.
