  2. I did not know that!
  3. I wish maglula made one for a AK-74 as the one for my pistol (Glock 23) is the bee's knees! I have seen the Cammenga one and it might be a buy.
  4. Thanks Mike and Mike. I am looking looking forward to it...I expect with a 1500 round count I'll have dirty gun (but it's an AK so who cares?) and a sore thumb!
  5. Anyone thinking about going the the April "Fighting Rifle" class?
  6. I have been taking Krav Maga lessons for some time now so I am a little biased. For me Krav was the perfect fit for a few reasons: (1) I have zero prior experience with any self defense system but one of Krav's philosophies is train someone with little/no experience and in the shortest time attain some level of skill. (2) You train in sneakers and shorts and t-shirt. Because you're more likely to get in a fight dressed like that rather than in a Gi and bare feet. (3) There are no katas. We train to address the immediate threat than after that you do what you can: maybe kick if the bad guy is further out, a punch or elbow or knee. When I started Krav I was running about 9-12 miles per week and I still got gassed quickly. Now I run 25-30 miles per week (have some half marathons and a full marathon behind me) and I still get gassed however not as quick. Try it if you can and as DaddyO said don't sign a contract till you've doing it awhile.
  7. I have a recurrent nightmare about who the POTUS is for the last 3 years...

  9. While I'll stay out of the Glock versus 1911 argument I will say kudos to you for taking a class. Not only are they fun but IMHO ought to be on eveyone's priority list of required items. Just because you own a weapon or have an HCP means little if you don't know how to us it. Just my opinion.
  10. As many others have said: buy a Saiga convert it the way YOU want. I bought everything I wanted on line and I got the rifle from Guns and Leather all for around $500. There are some excellent youtube videos with step by step instructions. If you want I'll give you a link to what I thought were the best instructions, where I bought the conversion parts and the coupon code to save 5% (or was it 10%? I can't recall) which covers the shipping.
  11. That line made me laugh!
  12. (Note to Moderators: I was not sure if I posted this in the correct forum feel free to move if you see fit) I love to eat and I love to try different restaurants so I often get info from and post to Yelp. I have started to include in my review a note to HCP holders stating the establishment's policy regarding carrying. I might say something like: "To HCP holders: no sign, legal or otherwise, observed" or "To HCP holders: Legal sign located at entrance". I started doing this because I went across town to eat only to find a legal sign posted. I drive a pickup and I have no trunk to secure a pistol if I was so inclined to disarm (which I won't). I just wanted to get some feedback and I would urge others, if they Yelp, to do the same.
  13. Guns and Leather is a good place to recharge my low testosterone...hey I'm almost 50.
  14. What and where is the Team Room?
  15. Very interesting thread. A great read.
  16. Hoplophobes! I had to look that word up but I like it.
  17. I bought a Saiga (5.45x39) for about $350 converted it the way I liked for about $150 and like magic I'm now an AK-74 guy! So much so that I'm going to sell my Ruger SR556 and all my .223 ammo!
  18. LagerHead, Are you, by chance, a homebrewer?
  19. I know this post is 4 years old but thanks for the report.
  20. Electric blue pants.
  21. Of course you can't do this for guns and/or ammo but awhile ago I was in Walmart to buy a certain cut of beef and there was none on display. So I waited for about 10 minutes and nothing. Twice in that time frame a clerk said he'd get someone to help me but no dice. I finally just walked around the counter into the refrigerated meat area and started to look on my own. It took a few minutes but I found a cardboard box with about a dozen pieces of the cut of cow I wanted I grabed one and started to walk out. A manager type just happened to talk by as I exited and he got all in my face about going back there. I gave him my best dumb a$$ed look (I have much practice) and told him I thought it was self service.
  22. I was wondering if anyone has signed up for this class? I have sent an email to Dustin but he has not responded yet. If anyone is going I would like to know. Thanks.
  23. Was there even a gun in the video?
