Excellent growth and turnout on a rainy day. Next match: IDPA classifier. 3rd weekend match - July: steel match with shotgun side I am in the middle of designing the steel match courses of fire. No later than 12:30 pm. Hope to see you there! -
Wife went shopping this morning leaving me with 4 kids at the last moment. She did not get back in time for me to leave and be on time to the match. I am looking forward getting back out there.

Really? Low round count? We usually do this amount on one stage.

I will be at the match this Saturday working one of the squads. I wanted everyone to know of a different type of shooting skills that gets lost easily and should be practiced more. June is the time for our annual IDPA Night Match at Henry County Gun Club. Plan on coming out early and spending a day and night at the range. I will be at the range by 2:00 and will set up some pistol skill drills for anyone interested in coming out and getting some practice in early. I will also set up a 100 yard rifle competition. I will furnish the rifle (M14 clone with 10 power scope), NATO spec ammo, and target (bullseye type with a 2” 10 ring and 1” X-ring. The cost to shoot this “friendly” competition will be $10.00. $5.00 from the entry fee will go into a pot for the winner(s). 1 – 10 shooters will pay one place, 11 – 20 shooters will pay two places, 21 or more shooters will pay three places. This will be a test of your skill since I am furnishing everything else. Re-shoots allowed at full price as long as the ammo holds out. Bring food, water and lots of ammo and spend the afternoon and evening shooting with your friends. (bug spray, sunscreen and other necessities also) Don’t forget your flashlight. See you Saturday, Steve Vaughn

As of now, no. Please check the website for any future changes. -
Today we received notice from TVA about geotechnical investigations they are planning at the Gallatin Plant. To perform the investigation safely the range will be closed Monday through Friday daylight to dark starting Wednesday June 15, 2011 through December 31, 2011. TVA and its contractors will be working in the area. These investigations are for the feasibility of placing a future Coal Combustion Product storage site. They involve large areas within the railroad loop at the plant. There will be heavy equipment to drill and install testing features such as wells. Some of the wells located at the boundaries of the shooting range may stay in place after the investigation period to continue gathering data. The range will be open on weekends only June 15 - Dec 31, 2011. We will notify you if there are any changes. Check the web gallatingun.com for our schedule of events.

Thank you to all of the Range Officers that worked the match. We have taken great strides in the club's history and look forward to the opportunity in continuous growth. We had 198 entries for our 1st sanctioned event. We missed some(20) of our members of the club. It was nice to see people from FL, TX, IL, and IN. Congratulations to Kevin D. for winning the Range Officer gun and to Ryan P. for winning Guardian division.
