  1. Hope you enjoy your time with us. This is just the first one to attend without the competitive environment present before jumping into our regular matches. Please look at the Range Rules on our website. We want a SAFE place to shoot for all guests and members.
  2. LOL, bound and determined to shave these golden locks............
  3. Times and Fees Times Set up 7:00 AM for anyone who wants to help. New Shooter Orientation begins promptly at 8:30 AM. Shooter's meeting 8:45 AM. Match start time at 9:00 AM. Match Fees Members: $10.00 Non-Members & 1st Time shooters: $20.00 Youth: $5.00
  4. Max round count for each stage is 5(this way a 5 shot revolver has the same advantage as a Glock or 1911), There are 14 stages. No reloads on the clock. All weapons will be from the low ready position to begin each stage. Stages will be posted tonight on TGO and the website(www.mctsclub.com).
  5. Would you like to be better with a firearm? Would you like to shoot at multiple targets instead of the single paper targets at the mundane indoor ranges? Are you afraid of having other people see you shoot? The purpose of an Intro to Competitive Shooting match is to create an environment friendly to shooters who have not yet participated in any type of practical pistol competition. This match contains all the elements that would be found in a regular match. You will be able to participate in this match with a minimum amount of equipment. The match is also being run as a BUG (back up gun) IDPA match. You can shoot the match with either normal full size or small back up guns. Experienced competitors are encouraged to come participate in this match and help introduce the sport to interested shooters. This is also a chance to give those back up guns a work out. This type of match is designed for people to get over the fear of competition shooting. The only way to get better with your shots is to practice with real world type scenarios that we hope to never encounter. It is for beginners, safe and responsible youths, significant others, newly acquired CCW holders and experience competition shooters. Just remember that if you would not use it to defend yourself on the street, it may not be the right choice for this event that is intended for real world scenarios and CCW/EDC. Music City Tactical Shooters will be hosting a 14 Stage IDPA Introduction Match on 02/04/2011. It will be a great opportunity to experience competitive shooting match in a limited movement, round count so that every type of weapon is equal, non-competitive environment with some challenging stages. Our first attempt at this introduction to non-competitive shooters was our biggest turnout thus far at that time with 55 shooters presents wielding 35 plus brand new shooters. We will have experienced shooters there to display speed and accuracy on the stages when practice is done properly. IDPA's principle is geared toward defensive pistol shooting. Competition shooting cannot replace training and training well. You will get what you put into it. However, shooting with a little pressure does tend to bring out our weaknesses. This shooting sport like many others is a game. We do strive for excellence in our stage designs to emulate real world scenarios and new shooters' experience. I too thought I was a good shot standing in front of a target wasting bullets while my weapon was pointing at the target. As most indoor ranges do not allow drawing from the holster(which I have not been to an indoor range in over 4 years so this may have changed), you cannot get the same type of experience at our range that you can other places. The competition shooting was the best thing that I took a chance on from the indoor ranges. The duration and agenda of the day's events: Registration will be from 8 AM to 8:45. We will have a special new shooter's meeting at 8:45 with multiple safety officers depending on the turnout. We will start with rounds downrange after the all shooters' meeting. Individuals will squad up with a safety officer and will be with that person for the duration of the day's events(for example: if we have 40 shooters there will be 4 squads - 50 equals five squads and so forth). With the 7 shooting bays setup for the Intro match there should not be any backup/waiting by any squad. Whether it is 50 or 70 or more shooters we will still be finished around 12:30 that afternoon. I am excited for the opportunity in presenting our club and the sport to everyone! If we have 90 separate entries(no multiple entries from one person) people competing in the match, I will let one of the Executive Committee members shave my long hair.
  6. Now with that being said, 357 sig? I love the caliber in my Sig 229. That is an expensive caliber to shoot at cardboard.
  7. Here is a direct quote from IDPA HQ: A member may replace a barrel of one caliber for one of a different caliber as long as the gun remains safe and functional. This will be legal for all gun models, however if the gun is not in the original factory shipped caliber it will not be legal for SSP division. Example: A member may replace a Glock 35 barrel (.40 caliber) with a 9mm barrel. This gun would be legal for ESP but not SSP. Robert Ray IDPA HQ
  8. Good day of shooting with a lot of new faces.
  9. Nice avatar change. The AK47 did not suit you since you don't own one anymore. Since you offered, I accept you being my personal valet this Saturday.
  10. Really? REALLY. REEAAALLLLLY? Want to go there? I think I still remember which way to load the magazine and the direction the bullets are supposed to go. For 10.00 I will give you a quick lesson before we start during the new shooters meeting. Glad to see you come back. However, I will believe it when your car comes up on the range. Sorry the field because members are up on top and non-members on bottom. I know that sounds dirty!
  11. Dr. Greg has given me permission to get back to activities as long as the pain does not come back in the process. Watch the running and kneeling at first. May walk and just shoot headshots. I still have the boot but have opted to use a steel insert into the shoe to keep it still while wearing shoes. Still some pain in the foot while wearing the insert but not unbearable as long as I am shooting. My initial thought was going to be: If the foot was going to require surgery, I am shooting anyways. What more harm can I do to it? Dr. Greg will fix it.
  12. I thought the stages were going to be harder. How about the plates at 35yrds? No sense at making bunny courses, come on and make it challenging. OK now that I went completely insane on the above statement. I will be shooting the match this time. Looking forward to it!
  13. I don't think that they change the capital from Frankfort to Lexington in my home state. I would agree Lexington is a better choice.
  14. I was reading the entire posting and was going to ask the same question.
  15. I did not win a KCC certificate but had some work done for myself. Love giving back to the people that support the club. I can not wait to get it back. Weapons are just tools and tools are supposed to be used. Some tools get worn and scratched.
  16. Gallatin Gun Club does this regular during and after matches.
  17. Sure. I have 28 of them. I will loan some out for those that do not have a Glock(which is hard to imagine.....). Glock will be there to clean them for me!
  18. [h=6]Music City Tactical Shooters in conjunction with Glock Sport Shooting Foundation will be hosting the Music City Shootout II in Dickson, TN on May 19th and 20th, 2012. Registration may be online at www.gssfonline.com or at the match. Great type of match for kids, individuals with disabilities, the new shooters, and experienced shooters. This is a match of accuracy more than speed. What better way to win money, prizes, and Glocks than a GSSF? Prizes are based on performance and random drawing. Think of it.....you could tank the match and still win a gun.[/h]Competitors may enter multiple division(5 or 6 entries maximum). We had 198 entries for our first GSSF match and have hope of doubling the number this year. Please show your support of Music City Tactical Shooters by attending the match. Those that work the matches either one day or both will receive free Glock merchandise (including but not limited to free match entry and a special Glock gun will be given/raffled off for match workers). Questions or concerns, please email President@mctsclub.com.
  19. Glad you were able to get there on time. Tell her Congrats!!!!!
  20. Gallatin Gun Club is next weekend(Saturday) and Music City Tactical Shooters is on the third Saturday. It really is not that far of a drive for GREAT quality matches(nothing taken away from ORSA as they are a quality club, they just shoot on the same weekend as our matches and I can not take away from our club to visit another).
  21. Sad to hear especially from a "trained" professional. Drinking, showing off, and firearms do not mix!
  22. Great turnout on the first weekend in January. Bays a little wet but workable. Good to see old familiar faces back and a lot of new ones. We hope to see some returning faces there at the next match! Gimpy
  23. I got some trash bags for Christmas to be used as a poncho. I will sell them to anyone for the right price......
  24. If anyone really believes the world will be ending, prove it! Let me have your bank account information and CCs, you will not be needing it or be around to pay for it.
