Innovative Rifle Action - Ballard

No, everything I have is in the pic. -
Your comment hits the nail on the head. In the real life it takes a lot to stop them.

Congratulations Sam 1! Getting to the dissertation is a big deal.

Innovative Rifle Action - Ballard

Thanks for the info. The rimfire firing pin does have the oblong part, though its really hard to see that in the pic. I have a question about the centerfire part. I think the screw below the rimfire pin holds the firing pin. I think this because the screw is perfectly sized for the slot it's in. Other than the firing pin, do you think another piece is missing -
That is awesome. Here are ones I would like to have seen: The Allman Brothers before Duane passed Hendrix Janis Joplin Leonard Skynyrd The Rolling Stones, when they were younger Jank Jr and Marshall Tucker - when younger Heart, when younger

I hope that those of you that go have a great time. Hozzie commented that he wanted to see Pearl Jam before they get old, which is really smart. I'm a class rock guy and there are many bands I wish I had seen back in the day.

Looks good! It must be a hassle sewing that pattern and keeping it looking good.

Bump, no one commented so it went fast. Interesting for those who like Civil War / Wild West era guns -
My nephew goes w his buddies every year and loves it. I don't care for crowds. On top of that, most of the folks I would really want to see are dead or in their 70s.

It's hard to take in how psychopathic Hitler was. Today is the anniversary of D Day, but let's not forget the price paid in the Pacific. Hitler has nothing on the Japanese relative to what they did to the Chinese. Here are my favorite D Day pics. I think those are machine gun bullets coming at our boys in the first pic:

Those three tines sticking out don't have a function within the mine. The Japanese said they got better results with them though. Maybe it's like one of those bombs that perform better by exploding above the ground. At first I though they had to do with detonation. However, there is a shotgun shell looking detonator which is activated when the pole jams into it.

Many thanks!

For the life of me, I can't figure out what that thing is that the soldier in the top middle is carrying. Anyone know, or have a good guess for that matter?

Here are a couple of other ideas for you. Not sure if you paint as well, though I think these portraits would be just as good, possibly even better, in pencil, especially for a time frame when pics were black and white.

The design of the action on the Ballard seems pretty innovative for an 1860s design. The gun can be used for rim fire or center fire cartridges. The rim fire firing pin can be reversed. A hollowed out space in the hammer won't hit the protrusion when reversed. I haven't been able to find a pic or schematic for the complete center fire firing pin for this gun and I suspect a piece or two may be missing. The part I labeled as the firing pin is a hollow screw. I don't have the actual firing pin. I also think they did a good job with the hammer. The flat part fires the rim fire and the hollowed part fires center fire. Be great to hear your take on this.

Here is my take on what happened to Omega. Most of time when I have had interactions with police they have looked at the intent of the law. Example, someone ran a light and hit me a couple of years ago and I didn't have my wallet and license with me. He found me in the system and didn't ticket me. A year or two before that I got pulled over for running a red light. I hadn't even seen it. Again, no ticket. The police new that people missed that light and was really trying to educate people. Then, there have been a few negative ones. This didn't happen to me, but a police friend in GA was telling me about how a young cop pulled someone over. It was a business man. When he pulled out his license a Viagra tab fell out. The law in GA at that time said that any medication had to be in the prescription bottle and he charged the guy, even though business man told him the name of the pharmacy and suggested that he call him. Omega's situation sounds like this example, heightened by the fact that he lied about being able to see him from the road. This is not a post meant to slam police - there are a few dickheads in every group.

Great job. I want to get into wood working when I get a farm.

Looks like Sandstone or Ski has the fix. I don't believe in killing something you aren't going to eat if there is another way.

I can see how that would be easy to miss. If the moderators can't change your name, maybe they can delete your existing account and you can open it again.

My thought would be to get a Marlin 336 made before Remington purchased them.

I've been really happy with my Explorer Tactical Model R2 and the pricing is close to the Midway bag when it's on sale. http://www.amazon.com/Explorer-Tactical-Range-Ready-18-Inch/dp/B00SUSBFA8 Also, I got tired of carrying the amount of guns like the guy in the pic above, but with no wheelbarrow. So, I got a light weight foldable hand truck and some bungee cords. http://www.amazon.com/Magna-Personal-Capacity-Aluminum-Folding/dp/B000HVVSDU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1465073934&sr=8-1&keywords=fold+up+hand+truck Here is a pic of it in action:

Bellshire Hardware isn't in your area, though service is great and pricing is good. I haven't had a transfer in a while, seems like they were $20 plus the background check if needed.

Hozzie, Thanks for correcting my errors. I try not to post info if I'm not confident about it, though in this case I missed it.

There are several different issues here. If you sell a modern gun outside of TN I'm pretty sure you are required by law to to ship FFL to FFL. I'm not sure about C&R and Antique guns. The next point is that shipping firearms is a big hassle if you don't have an FFL. Finally, the key is to find an FFL that wants shipping and transfer business. I would know where to suggest here in Nashville, but it looks like you are in Chattanooga. Many FFL's feel like anything shipped is business they have lost, so they charge very high prices and provide service with a snotty attitude. My thinking is that pricing should be $20-$25 for the paperwork plus the cost of shipping, which is available at any of the carriers websites. I would also package the firearm properly other than sealing the box. That way the FFL can verify that the gun is not loaded and that it is packaged properly. You can use google to find out how to properly package the firearm. The directions probably won't be specific to guns, but will give yo the idea.
