  1. Here is what I will share based on my experience:   1. Several people have said this.  I really think you need to see an ophthalmologist as opposed to an optometrist. 2. I started having blurry vision in my mid 40's.  There was no pain.  Turned out that I had dry eyes.  I use high quality, over the counter eyedrops.  The brand I use is Systane.  These are lubricant drops with no medicine that I know of. 3.  I look at computer screens a lot.  Using a quality, high definition monitor has made a big difference. 4.  Every 30 minutes or so I get up and walk around, but to give my body a break and to give my eyes a break from intense focus. 5. Again, I want to encourage you to see an ophthalmologist - your eyesight is too important, especially  in light of the pain.
  2. I hate to see this happen.     http://www.usatoday.com/story/money/business/2015/06/14/colt-chapter-11/71228058/
  3. I'm really glad you recorded this and enjoyed reading it.  Any of you that haven't read his writing about his time in the military should check it out at http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/topic/88428-days-of-old/?hl=essone.
  4. The behavior of Mr. Smith, the gun rights guy, is really disturbing.  He does nothing but cause trouble for all of us which can easily be avoided.
  5. http://www.cnn.com/2015/06/12/us/gun-law-homicide-drop/index.html     Lying liars and the lies they tell.  They print these huge statistics.....then I get into the article and see that the author didn't rule out other assumptions.......then a guns rights person speaks the truth......then the author says a bunch of BS about not being able to do better research.......then it comes out the he is on O'bama's gun violence board.......then he talks about his very imperfect research being scientifically accurate.   Of course, CNN only prints titles that are ingenuous.  Finally, they have "comments" turned off so no one can disagree with their flawed research and bad behavior.
  6. Gotta love the dual triggers
  7. It's actually one of 12 camera rifles made in the 20s or 30s.  It goes on the block soon. Opening bid is about $165,k.  They think it will bring over $300,000.
  8. I wouldn't post a video on YouTube if I made a squeeling sound like that!
  9. I got an email from the NRA today entitled, "Stop Obama's Planned Gag Order on Firearm-Related Speech"  Of course, they urgently want me to send money.  I've learned that I have to check emails like this from the NRA for truth.  I have found that they mis-characterize or tell bold face lies to get us to send money.   I found and read the source document.  The document wasn't easy to read and I'm not sure exactly what it said.  It certainly didn't say anything about a gag order on firearm related speech.  As best I could tell, it's meant to keep information about weapons systems out of the hands of the bad guys.   It's also possible that it is wolf in sheep's clothing.  However, they shouldn't be saying things like, "gag order on ....."     It really irritates me that I can't trust the NRA to be honest about when there is really an issue.   I'm grateful for the NRA.  We have the gun freedom's that we have in large part because of them.  I may get a Lifetime membership while they are $500.   While grateful, I will call them out on their BS.
  10.   I think the author of this article may be correct.  I read the source document.  I interpret the word "fixed" to mean that the pistol will have a stock - the part with the grips that we hold onto.  All the pistols I can think of have a "fixed stock at an angle and below the bore"   I got an email from the NRA today entitled, "Stop Obama's Planned Gag Order on Firearm-Related Speech"  Of course, they urgently want me to send money.
  11. Several folks have posted support for what this guy did.  The problem with what he did is that he is sticking a sleeping pitbull in the eye with a stick.   Can you do it?  Sure.  Should you do it?  Well, not so much.     People like this guy give the gun control folks more to work with.
  12. There are more reasons to to get rescue animals - the likelihood of getting a great animal is far greater than purchasing from a breeder.   My ex-wife is a master dog trainer, so I saw many, many dogs when we were together.   What I'm about to say isn't always true, though is the majority of the time.  Often, the pure breed dogs are badly inbred.  The "champion" dogs we hear about are usually a champion because of their looks - not what's between the ears.   Also, dog's MUST be properly socialized by their mother as puppies.  There are far too many breeders that interfere with this and when they do the dog will never be able to be a good pet.  This is much less of an issue with rescues.
  13. I can tell from EssOne's posts how much he enjoyed being in the military.  I would definitely have gone into the service if I could do it all again.......can't say for sure I would have wanted to be on EssOne's voyage to Europe - the one where they opened to door and looked up at the sky, but saw only water.
  14. Welcome.   I like you already - I love 1911's and just got my first AR
  15. Glad you are here.
  16.   It has really helped my trigger skills.  I would suggest starting at three yards and move up once you well there.  For me, five yards is plenty challenging right now.
  17. We are doing pretty much of the same thing. I'm shooting at 5 yards and the bullseye's are the same size. It is easier than it looks. I'm exhausted by the time I finish shooting the target.
  18.   I'm not that sophisticated.  I start at the bottom left, move my way across to the right and then go to the next line.  How would you do it?  Maybe I can learn something.    This was at 15 ft and the red is 11/16th's.     My next comment isn't for Zybysco, but for all of us.  I didn't put the distance in the post initially because I'm better than some and not nearly as good as others and wanted to focus on fun and learning and not who the best shot is.
  19. I'm not surprised at the response from our military folks.  The author is a business journalist rather than a military guy.  I'm don't have a military background and can't really comment on the list other than to say that I'm glad that home town Barrett made the list.
  20. Interesting article about our best military weapons - thought this would get some interesting conversation from our military guys.  Note that a Barrett rifle is on the list.   http://www.businessinsider.com/most-effective-weapons-in-the-us-arsenal-2012-12
  21. Yeah, I'm competing with myself.  I count them if any of the red is torn, though not all of them are.  I start at the bottom and work my way up, so the top is always better because I've worked out the kinks.
  22.   Are you saying that the left turn lane isn't meant for travel?  I didn't know that.
  23. I've started a new shooting game with myself. I have to deal with competitors all day every day in my work. For the record, I think business competition is a good thing, except when it applies to me. All that to say that I don't like to compete in my hobbies. So, I compete with myself for target (as compared to self defense) shooting. Had a great time at the range yesterday. The target, which hopefully is shown below, has 25 bulls eyes on it. My goal is to hit red, so hits in the outer rings don't count. It too me 68 shots to hit all of the red yesterday. Of course, I would like to do that in 25 shots. Who would have thought that pressing the trigger straight back and focusing on the front sight would be so hard? I was using my P226 extreme yesterday. I love that gun. 24. This is really disturbing.  Home owners / Apartment insurance can usually be expanded to cover the value of guns.   My car was broken into years ago.  They broke the window and took the stereo.  This was before smart phones.  They stole my Day Timer.   I get a call about 6 months later.  The police pulled a guy over with a car full of stuff which appeared to be stolen.   My Day Timer with business cards was in there.  They were able to clearly identify stolen material because of that Day Timer.   We often don't get justice when thieves strike, so I thought you all would appreciate this.
