Just conjecture on my part....I wonder if it had something to do with heightened security around July 4th. Nashville had the nation's largest fireworks display on the 4th, so it could have gotten some attention.

Yeah, they cut it into chunks rather than pulling it - good cuts of meat and very tender. He has a big wood / charcoal grill outside where he cooks.

Question about legal obstacle getting HCP.
Pete123 replied to 10-Ring's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
I got a DUI when I was 18. Twenty five years later I was doing volunteer work in Jails and Prisons in GA where I lived at the time. The state did an extremely thorough background check in order to allow me in prisons. The DUI was on there, which would have been fine after that amount of time, but it didn't show that I went to court and paid the fine. DUI wasn't a serious offense back then - $250 fine. I called the county where it happened and learned that they tore the old courthouse down and didn't have anything on me, that they threw away the closed files. She asked why I was calling. Once she learned why, their judge faxed a letter to me saying that it had been resolved. Maybe approaching this in a similar manner will help. If not, I'll bet a lawyer can help you. -
I've had really good luck with Bellshire Hardware. After dealing with them once, you are in their computer.....I can call ahead and it's all ready when I get there. Great customer service. Much of their business if FFL transfers, though they are of the very few independent hardware stores left in metro Nashville. There are usually several folks hanging out. Plus, there is an awesome BBQ joint in the same parking lot. $20 plus background

Alcohol + Handgun: Hypothetical Question
Pete123 replied to a topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
This is what I was thinking when I read the original post because of a few things: 1. wondering about having more than one beer when driving and having a gun. 2. Having a couple of beers before a trip to Lowes would lead me to suspect a day time trip. Most people very seldom drink multiple drinks during the day. 3. Based on the previous two items, I would be concerned that it wasn't just two beers and that a full two hours had lapsed. I no longer drink. One of the reasons I quit is that after a couple, my mind started telling me things that weren't true. For example, I would think I hadn't consumed nearly as much as I had. -
CNN mistakes Dildo Flag for ISIS at Gay Pride parade
Pete123 replied to Erik88's topic in General Chat
I laughed and laughed when I saw this. Media is supposed to issue a correction when they botch something - wonder if they did. How would you like to be known in your profession as the one who mistaked sex toys for Isis? -
My best guess - it's not Chicago's fault it's all those evil gun sellers elsewhere. Which would be why total gun control is needed. One of the many things that bothers me is that the Clintons and Obama are smart people. They are smart enough to know that neither research nor common sense indicates the gun control would change anything in the US.

USA Today's website has the video part where is moves from one to the next. I saw that, googled them and found a distressingly large number of pics.

Rise in guns turning fights deadly in Clarksville
Pete123 replied to FortKnox's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
This explanation makes a lot of sense. The question I have been pondering is why Clarksville is having gang trouble so much more than other places. Having a mayor who won't acknowledge the problem and won't support law enforcement in helping the gangs decide that they would be much more welcome somewhere else explains a lot. -
The Marine Corps are bringing back the Raiders - the name of their special forces in WWII. More accurately, they are bringing the name back. I think this applies to MARSOC and not Force Recon or Division Recon http://www.foxnews.com/us/2015/06/19/green-berets-seals-and-now-raiders-marine-corps-resurrects-name-legendary-elite/

Rise in guns turning fights deadly in Clarksville
Pete123 replied to FortKnox's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
I recall a thread on Clarksville not too long ago on TGO. One of our members had spoken with a LEO from there and said he was told that big city gangs like the Bloods and Cripps have come to town. -
What bothers me most in all of this is that there isn't any solid evidence that I have been able to find that shows that gun control violence and crime. I look at all the money spent by our side and their side and shake my head. A much smarter approach would be to find common ground on ways to reduce violence and partner in those areas. The NRA had a class with a large booklet at the Nashville show and there was nothing in there that I saw related to guns. It was all about how to protect your children and yourself.

I have a friend that was shot through the chest with a 9mm in a car jacking - the car itself has value.

That's a beautiful gun that has been on my wish list for some time.

Other hobbies: cars, boating, computer nerd stuff, photography, cars, motorcycles, porch swings, the game called "cornhole" ha. Still funny especially when you type it. ************************************************************ I have a friend that was a professional cornhole player. They tried very hard to get competitive cornhole off the ground, though it didn't happen.

I want to feel badly for them, but can't. Companies hire the wrong leaders from time to time. In the case of Colt, they make poor hiring decisions almost every time and have been doing so for decades. Such a laundry list: no money put into R&D agreeing to gun control policies Taking on massive levels of debt, while spending nothing on R&D Their unionized workers going on strike for 5 years and the list goes on and on and on and on..........

Gabby Gifford speaks out on gop

It's funny how the Democrats are making negative comments about the Republicans when the Dems went around Congress to get what they want. -
Bad guy with gun shot by good guy with gun
Pete123 replied to chances R's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Also in Nashville over the weekend. 2:00 or 3:00 am in the morning. Guys returning from bar to parking deck to go home. They get to their car and see it had been broken into as well as a couple of guys holding a bag stolen from the car. When said and done, one of the victims was shot multiple times. -
I have to weigh in with EssOne and TNWNGR on this one. Going from DA/SA to striker after many years is a big change. LEO's spend a lot more time with their guns than the rest of us, making vigilance all the time more difficult with that natural tendency to gain a comfort level.
