  1. I've been very pleased with:   http://www.condition-1.com/   They hosted Tom Givens as an instructor this past May and I took classes from them afterwards.  They are good guys that are very customer focused.
  2. I haven't looked at the entire thread.  Having said that, I want to remind everyone the we have law enforcement officers on this board for the same reason we are all here - to enjoy a hobby we all have in common.    Several months ago there were a bunch of postings about law enforcement shootings, several of which I took part in.  Someone posted a comment similar to mine here.  It came out that several of our law enforcement members were feeling alienated and began leaving TGO.   I just read where two LEO'S responded to a call and were shot.  They got shot protecting American citizens.     These men and women have a very tough job, where they make split second decisions under stress in a job that doesn't pay that well.  I'm not sure I could make the right call in some of the split second decisions I've seen on news websites. The small percentage of controversial situations make the news while the very vast majority of police activity, which is positive, never gets mentioned.
  3. I'm no expert on this topic.  In my life, I've seen much more horrific behavior from people who wouldn't take their meds rather than ones who changed when they did.   Illegal drugs are a whole different thing.
  4.   I don't agree with the comments I'm quoting in the context they are written.   Bersaguy is not a stockyard animal to be run through the sale barn.  The practice will make good money on his procedure.  They certainly ask his name before asking how they get paid.     As in most things, it isn't what you say, it's how you say it.  She could have asked his name nicely, then said, "before I get all your information, let's touch bases on insurance. I don't want to take your time getting information only to find that I'll need to refer you."   That would add about ten seconds to the phone call and would leave Bersaguy in a feeling valued.  People matter and how they are treated matters.  Having said that, assume that this medical practice doesn't care about that.   If he has insurance at all, there is a high probability that they take it.  So, it makes business sense to find out about a customer before pissing them off.
  5. Man tries to steal unmarked police car with two cops inside A Florida man is arrested after he tried to steal a police car with two cops in it.   This clown was armed with a steak knife.  Needless to say, he is in the slammer.   Couldn't get the  link to copy - was on the rolling video's at usatoday.com
  6. I remember being 14 and 15 and thinking life moved soooo slowly.  Wow, that sure has changed
  7. That's awesome.  The state doesn't lavish folks with big salaries, but the retirement is awesome.  Hopefully, you'll be able to spend some time in the Smokies.   My dad was a forestry type, which is why I was born in Asheville, NC.     The foresters back then had to be very careful in the NC mountains due to the moon shiners, who weren't known for warm reception to folks that happened by their stills.
  8. I'm left handed and have never had an issue.  More and more guns come with an ambi safety.   One of my .45s has an ambi safety that has a male and female joint that meets in the middle of the gun. That wouldn't be as strong as a straight piece of metal, though I've never had a problem.   I have a Browning Hi Power that doesn't have the joint and is a straight piece of steel.  The safety for left handers uses a little pin outside of the gun.  I would think that is just as strong as a non ambi.
  9. Congrats!  Super sharp looking.  I'll tell you, nothing looks as sharp as a waxed and clean black ride.
  10. Guys, rats, I've had something come up and can't attend.  Apologies - I was going to bring name tags.
  11.   I'll bring Sharpies, sticky name tags and the little tent postcards where you write you name and put it on the table - already have them.           White - check balding - check belly - check   I knew I was getting older when I would see smoking hot 21 year old women, yet couldn't look at them "that way" as it made me feel like a dirty old man.   :grouchy:
  12. He's cheap too - just give him a nut here and there.     Can't give a magazine all the time - he'll shoot it.
  13. Ny new bodyguard:
  14. I bought a Sig Sauer M400 not long ago.  I went shooting with a friend that deployed multiple times while in the service as well as being at AR enthusiast.   We were both shooting from a bench and he taught me that it's fine to balance a little of the guns weight on the magazine to help aim better.     His guns did that with no problem.  Mine jammed on every shot.  Looking on the Internet, I read about many people who use this practice.  I called Sig customer service and was advised that the gun was fine and that AR's weren't designed to use the mag as a monopod.     That response felt like a cop-out coming from Sig.  It seems to me that the military would require that to assist soldiers shooting in prone position, though I have no idea if that is the case.   Nonetheless, can some of you with a lot of AR knowledge weigh in on anything I can try so the gun will do this, as well as whether a quality AR should allow this.   The problem happened both with the Sig magazine as well as Magpul Pmag 30's.  I don't recall the ammo.  I had some PMC as well as Bargain WPA with steel casings.  The gun wasn't spotlessly clean, though had only a few rounds through it when this occurred.   Any input would be appreciated.
  15. I'm in Hermitage, no trouble last night.
  16. The part I thought was funniest:  He used lead based paint and wasn't happy, so he goes and steals an automotive electroplater and goes on to kill himself with it.   We all agreed on one thing.  If we were going to do something totally stupid with our bodies, it certainly wouldn't be with the boys.   Thanks to the original poster, the guys at the office had a great time with this.
  17.   Address and phone are:  546 Donelson Pike, Nashville, TN 37214 Phone:(615) 883-8110
  18. I'm in, it will be great to meet you all in person.
  19. Count me in.  Evenings are generally open for me.
  20.   I'm not surprised - all those big birds like geese, swans, etc... are pure t mean.  I don't think they can hurt you, but it isn't for lack of trying.  Check out the following:   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IPihMK_XZNw   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6OStX_wrWGg   http://www.badassoftheweek.com/index.cgi?ccpage=1&ccid=552478526
  21. Who would have thought? http://www.foxnews.com/leisure/2015/07/17/guard-dog-not-doing-job-maybe-need-guard-llama/
  22. Definitely a scam.  I have received several of these calls and I don't own a computer that uses Windows - I'm an Apple guy.   It makes good sense to Google "current scams 2015" or whatever year it is every so often.  The scammers are becoming more sophisticated.
  23. Good news.  I appreciate LE staying after it.
  24.   Is the issue at Wal-Mart that the employees are not putting the ammo on the shelf and holding it for friends?
  25. Great speech that makes great points.
