  1. Glad to have you.  We have a bunch of folks in your area, me included.
  2. Since I started this thread I’m naming myself Grand Poobah and Chief Judge.   Below is my view of the best posts.  I meant this to be fun, so the molesters, etc… aren’t included.     These are in the order they were posted.   The scumbag who stole my credit card with 357 on back Using a cell phone in a theater. (Optional:  Some kind of electrical shocking device for immediate feedback) Taking up more than one parking space. Contractors who make 12 ft long patch cables  Justin Bieber  Anything or anyone affiliated with Comcast cable. (Not sure caning is sufficient) Guys who wear a "Man Bun" I watched a woman take a sample of a smoked rib at a supermarket deli, eat it, and then put the gnawed up bone back on the sample platter. Surely this deserves a good flogging.  Whoever is responsible for canceling Firefly  (Not sure caning is sufficient) Anyone wearing a Johnny Cash tshirt but cant name more than three songs he sang.  Those who ask you a question and then argue with you when you give them the CORRECT answer.
  3. Thanks for posting - my order is going out in tomorrows mail.
  4. So, how did he taste?
  5.   You know, what's funny for me is that when I'm shooting a gun, like a Mosin, a K987 or a 1903 I don't even hear then gun.     But when the guy on the next lane is shooting his AR it sounds really loud.   Also, I re-read the original post and am not sure if he was talking about the noise from people shooting or the recoil.     Here's my attitude on recoil.  I don't shoot for a living, I do it for fun.  Therefore, I don't get calibers that recoil enough to impact my enjoyment.
  6. Repeating what someone said, wearing foam earplugs and ear muffs will help a lot.   Also, humans are all wired differently.  I double up and don't like the noise.     I see pics of soldiers shooting those huge artillery guns and wonder how they handle it - and whether they are now deaf.
  7.   I agree with your comments about Hooters for the same reasons.  In short, women deserve better than being objectified.
  8. I saw that the author is a Democrat from Mass and didn't need to read much further.
  9. Great info from you guys.
  10.   Greg's comment brings up another question.  People in this thread and other ones have said that you want the older Marlin lever actions.  My question now is how to identify one.   Don't all of the Marlin's have an exposed hammer?  Frankmako said to get one without the crossbar safety.  How do you identify that?  Greg, when you say you don't want one with a safety, you mean a button or switch, correct.   Isn't the safety on the older ones a partial cock of the hammer?
  11. Make sure to cook him well done - no telling how long he was laying on the side of the road.  ;)
  12. Glad you are here.
  13. I'll bet that most folks here are familiar with the Asian version of caning for punishment.   So, I had a credit card that was really cool.  The three digit code on back of the card was .357 (ok, I added the point in front, but it really did have 357)   So, some scumbag started with fraudulent charges.  The card had to be replaced with one that has three very uncool numbers.   This is absolutely a caning offense.   Next, whoever had the bright idea that only one lane was needed on the ramp from I-40W to the 440 loop in Nashville is on the list as well.   How about you?  Seen any caning offenses lately?
  14. So, I love the old Marlin lever actions.  Most people that are fans prefer a gun that has a JM stamp on the barrel as that indicates it was made in Marlin's barrel factory as Marlin turned out better barrels.  They feel that once Remington bought Marlin that the quality decreased.   The part that confuses me is that Remington barrels wouldn't be as good.  The Remington 700 is one of the most popular bolt actions of all time and is one of the guns used by the military for sniper rifles, leading me to conclude that Remington barrels are solid.   Can you all connect the dots on this?
  15. I'm confused.   Can you give some more detail?
  16. Finally, something being done to reduce gun violence.
  17. I'm a fan of mineral spirits for cosomoline removal.  Less 0ffensive odor.  I think it is also less flammable
  18. Aren't supreme court justices supposed to have been judges  before?  I don't how that works, though hope they don't let career politicians fill that role.
  19.   Awesome!!!
  20.   I appreciate your cheapness as I'm the same way.   ^_^
  21. I see no problem whatever with dry firing the Mosin.  The firing pin is a big piece of steel.   The previous poster mentioned that head space issues could develop.  A mosin headspace guage is inexpensive and easy to use.    Here's a link:   http://www.amazon.com/Mosin-Nagant-action-rifle-cleaning/dp/B001FKUL4E  kit, $8.20, includes headspace gauge.   I would dry fire any of mine as much as I wanted.  My understanding is that the risk, which is small, is that the firing pin could break, though Mosin firing pins don't cost much.
  22. Just when I thought it couldn't get any worse......link to USA Today story.   http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/onpolitics/2016/01/27/clinton-obama-would-great-supreme-court-justice/79393772/
  23. I assert that anyone getting the emu question correct made a lucky guess.
  24. 27 of 30.  C&R guys will get more correct I think.
