Wow, Ramjo sees it exactly the way I do. The M1 Garand is an awesome gun. I would put it at the top of the list of best guns of all time considering technology available when it was produced. Gen Patton and I view the Garand the same. Of course, how can anyone fail to appreciate Russian rifles? His SVT 40 is a gorgeous gun. I don't have one, though suspect it would be one of my most prized guns if I had one.

I've talked to some parents that were mighty ready for snow days at school to be over.

Sig Sauer P226r .40S&w like new for $450, $15 shipping
Pete123 replied to MountainDewed's topic in Handguns
Gentlemen, I'm going to push back a little on the statements that the pricing in the original post is better than normally is available. I used to follow pricing on these closely. The original post goes to CDNN. Sportsman's, a different website, has the P226 DA/SA with three mags for $439.95. Another reason I'm making this point is that I have seen several times where folks have purchased P226's or P229's new, or used at a higher price, then found that they couldn't sell them without taking a major financial loss. -

These guns most likely are police trade-ins. The prices are 'the going rate' for these guns and they are almost always available. No need to do a conversion from .40 to 9mm, you can buy a 9 from the get go. One note, most people don't like the DAK trigger, which is why those are the least expensive. Watch these sites to get exactly what you want: sportsmansoutdoorsuperstore.com http://www.cdnnsports.com/ Neither of them have any 9mms right now, though probably will in the next month or so. -
I would be much happier seeing idiots like this coming from Calif, NY, Chicago or Mass If this guy has a carry permit, it needs to be revoked, permanently, forever, never to be issued again.

You have me starting to think that maybe the military needs to look at replacing the AR w/ the SKS. Just sayin'
-
Yeah, but the sks has a wood stock and comes with a pig sticker attached......and, you don't have to worry about losing the magazine.
-
There are some definite wacko's writing some of those comments.
-
Nothing wrong here that an SKS wouldn't fix. :bowrofl:
-
Well, if I can't have the sks I could get behind these historical beauties or the Barrett - as long as they put a bayonet on the Barrett.
-
I fear there weren't many. By the time I got to the CMP website on Feb 1st they already showed them as being out of stock. I sent in an order, but don't have great hope for getting one.

You know, I'm 52 and overweight. How else do you propose that I get a young hottie?
-
You know, a sense of humor wouldn't hurt anyone. Do you really think I would propose a Soviet gun for our official gun?
-
Where you aware that the State of TN doesn’t have an official gun? Well, it’s time to change that. The only choice that makes sense is the SKS, a badass combo of lead slinging, pig sticking perfection and awesomeness. As fast and loose as the town harlot, you’ll never have to worry about her jamming and cleaning is largely optional. The “sometimes she works and sometimes she don’t” safety has killed plenty of commies without putting our boys in harms way. I mean, what’s not to love. Are you with me? If not, what do recommend? Why?

Will Carry, What you said makes a lot of sense. Hitler got all of the attention because of the Holocaust, but the Japs did awful, awful things like bayonetting pregnant women in the stomach.

It's funny and not funny at the same time.

Glad you are here.

I'm grateful to all who have served in our military. The soldiers I know are some of the best and brightest people I know. There is much incorrect information about The US and WWII. The US didn't want to get involved. Congress passed several 'Neutrality Acts' between 1935 and 1939 to keep us from getting involved. As best I remember, Roosevelt knew that we would have to get involved and wanted to do so sooner rather than later. There are plenty of historians who believe he knew about Pearl Harbor beforehand and allowed it to occur so he would have support needed to join the war. His motive wasn't bad - he felt that it would be worse for the US to wait before getting involved. Many great Americans lost their lives in WWII. As it turns out, Russia is far and away the driving force that defeated the Nazis and The US was the driving force in defeating the Japanese. The Japanese were significantly less powerful militarily than the Nazis. The Italians weren't much of a force at all. 80% of Nazi soldiers, with corresponding equipment, died at the hands of the Russians. I have no use whatever for Stalin, the communists and the leaders of The Soviet Union. I have tremendous respect and appreciation for the every day people fighting on the eastern front that defeated the Nazi's. In no way is my post meant as a slap to The US and our soldiers. Also, people should know the truth.

I'm not aware of side effects with this one. My doc asked me to try and avoid Ambien in favor of Trazadone as he felt that it is a safer med. My understanding about Trazadone is that it was meant to be an anti depressant, which didn't work well. It had the side effect of causing drowsiness. I'm not a medical guy and don't know that much about medications.
-
No, It's not an SSRI.
-
Trazadone doesn't work for everyone, though it's great if it does. It's inexpensive, maybe $4 per week, and has been around since the early 80s.

Insurance Company Notification (FOX NEWS)
Pete123 replied to steamnsteel's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Bersaguy, I'm almost sure that you don't have the coverage on your guns that you think you do. I have State Farm Renter's ins. It covers around $2000 after a $500 deductible. You may have $100,000 worth of coverage, but guns, and some other items, are capped. I purchased a State Farm personal articles policy to cover the guns. Your actual policy will show the exceptions. I believe your insurance agent is incorrect if he is saying you are covered. -
I hate to hear this.

I agree with Spurge being miffed. If some posts something for sale and I take time to PM them or ask a question that anyone with interest, then common courtesy is that they respond. There are people who don't respond to low ball offers and I can understand that, though I respond to everyone when I post something for sale.
