  1. Nice! congrats!
  2. Keep in mind, this is the stylin and profilin thread.  copied by Star Wars - YES!  Part of the cast for Minions - well not so much.
  3. MonkeyLizard, This thread is about stylin' & profilin' - not some slick jet ski move. Show me a modern day battle ship that does jet ski moves and has the style of the old school and I'll be impressed. You also posted an A10. There's a reason they call it the wart hog. Now, to the B-1 Lancer. Below is a better picture. Truthfully, it looks like some kind of freakish S&M marital aid with wings stuck on it so it will hurt more.
  4. I miss the days when military weapons had panache and style. Many of us grew up watching the awesome style daddies in movies and TV. Now, well not so much. Allow me to illustrate. Below is the 40 mm Bofor’s - our primary anti aircraft gun in the Pacific theatre. This is the gun where the barrel moves back and forth as it shoots. You see, this gun has class and style. Heck, these guns are so cool that Star Wars copied them. Next we have the present day 20 mm Phalanx. I don’t mean to hurt it’s feelings, though it would be much more at home in the movie “Minions”. Star Wars, not so much. Next check out the completely stylish military / law enforcement pistols from yesteryear. Now, coming to present day. egads!! Let’s take a look see at battle ships. Ultra cool vs fell out of the ugly tree and hit every branch on the way down. Oh, and it doesn’t end there. Check out hip, slick and cool vs coyote ugly.
  5. Sportsman's and CDNN are the go to guys for police trade ins.   I've watched a lot of folks on TGO buy Sig 226 and 229's new, only to find that these two sites have really, really brought prices down on the used gun market.
  6.   Yes, this one is especially funny - I was never as creative as some of those students.
  7. Here is my take on this as I am the main one who has been starting these threads.  TGO absolutely rocks on topics related to firearms, knives, hunting, self defense, etc….   We also have threads on many other topics.  The tone of those is tends to be dour and sober.  I started putting these things up to bring out the sense of humor and wonder within the TGO community.     This has worked well from my perspective.  As we all know, folks can ‘like’ various posts.  In the eleven days of this month, I’ve had 40 likes on posts unrelated to TGO’s core focus.  People have laughed and have enjoyed.   I guess these threads have fallen into two categories.  One is primarily military focused history and the other is plain humor.    I understand that some people don’t like them.  I’m fine with stopping these posts and I’m also fine with having a sub thread so those that like them can see them.
  8. Marines: "The face of the Marine Corps, and the last thing the enemy will see!" A Marine Force Recon Sergeant as he prepares to grab his ruck and head back out into the Vietnamese jungle. Vietnam ; May, 1971. Navy: A Navy SEAL, carrying a Mk23 5.56mm Machine Gun (Stoner 63), moves through deep mud as he makes his way ashore from a boat, during a combat operation in South Vietnam in 1970. (U.S. Navy photograph by PHC A. Hill) Air Force: Seems that I remember Star Wars using the Snake Eye tail fins from those bombs. The purpose of the cool looking tail fins is to slow the bomb so that it won't impact the jet when it explodes. (Note: I'm hoping that is an Air Force jet) Army. 'Nuff Said
  9. That middle pic of the bull dog is awesome
  10. Well, now that you mention it.......
  11. Awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   I love the hexagonal receiver.  The stamp on the flat part of the hex is really cool.    Yours came with a hang tag - don't throw it or the little piece of wood away.   The stock looks really good, remember my mistake on the cosmo removal and don't mess the stock up.   Should you ever need to remove the two hole screws you can get a little tool for that.
  12. hmmm.  I wonder if it worked.
  13. The best pic to me is the very last one. That dog is mighty happy. I'm figuring that the elephant really likes the dog as he could easily make him go away
  14. I've always dreamed of being of being able to shoot lasers from my eyes to catch on fire the clothes of folks that are irritating me.  I see this dream may become a reality in just a few short years.   :pleased:
  15. I would love to be getting those really cool Russian and eastern European hand guns.  Most unfortunately, they are all right hand only.
  16. I'm stumped on the babies.  I'm wondering if it is some kind of radiation, from the days before they knew radiation was dangerous.   When my mother was a child, they had an x-ray machine at the shoe store where kids would insert their feet.
  17. Talk about getting the fuzzy end of the lollipop
  18. That would be the perfect gun for me if I were a bank robber.
  19. I think the one on the left is a BAR.  I'm wondering if the one next to it is one of those Browning early model semi auto shotgun.
  20. After parcel post service was introduced in 1913, at least two children were sent by the service. With stamps attached to their clothing, the children rode with railway and city carriers to their destination. The Postmaster General quickly issued a regulation forbidding the sending of children in the mail after hearing of those examples. Below are the guns that were in Bonnie and Clyde's car when they were slain. I'll have to give them credit for good taste in guns.
  21. Omega, your assertion simply doesn't stand up to scrutiny with me.  That's fine as we don't have to agree.     For the rest of the folks on the forum, this thread has plenty of meat so you read through it and draw your own conclusions.
  22. I'm really glad this topic has come up as there is much mis-understanding regarding the use of deadly force.    After taking the class referenced above, I did some internet research and sent an email to Nashville defense attorney David Raybin asking if I can reach out if needed.   Below is his response.  This is a guy who has tried self defense cases and is a defense attorney:   "I have had  multiple people ask me to do this. If you are involved in a  self-defense situation the most important thing to do is NOT to use a firearm except as a last resort. People think these stand your ground laws etc are a  license to use  deadly force. They tend to promote violence and injury. My son and I do Second Amendment cases but we also believe  self-preservation can best be achieved by tactical withdrawal as necessary. That said, if you need us then my office number is the second best way to contact me.  The best is by email which my son and I monitor. "
  23. Omega,   You are describing how most of us on this forum would like it to be.   The reality is this.  There are five conditions that have to be met to claim self defense.  The chances of going to jail increase as any of these aren't met.  If you are determined to be the aggressor, then you are in a world of hurt.  The fact that someone is stealing from your garage does not in any way prevent you from being the aggressor.   Hearing the dog bark, going out to see what it is, and having that escalate into the perp being shot is a scenario where I don't want the DA deciding whether to prosecute on me.  The truth and what the prosecutor says in court may be two very different things.   The law that you quoted above is not how it is practiced in TN.   Imagine an ego contest that turns into a road rage incident where the two cars pull over on the side of the road.  Someone winds up being shot.  Regardless of what happened, the person doing the shooting likely will not be able to claim self defense.    I went to a class taught by the top firearms self defense attorney in the country.  One of the big take aways was that you want to have all five requirements for self defense so strong that the DA moves on to something else.  If they pursue it, the best case scenario is that you will go bankrupt paying for a defense.
