  1. Weapon Shield products are the only thing I've used on my HK P30. Got the 4 ounce maintenance kit from Amazon, and haven't even considered using anything else.   http://www.weaponshield.com/   http://www.amazon.com/Weapon-Shield-Maintenance-Kit-1oz/dp/B00IPQXC74/ref=sr_1_2/191-5948618-7738938?s=sporting-goods&ie=UTF8&qid=1422787681&sr=1-2&keywords=weapons+shield
  2. Have some new sights coming in for my HK P30. Just wondering who you guys would recommend to install them. THANKS...
  3. Been a member of REI for many years. Great place for outdoor clothes and accessories. If you think you're going to be frequenting there store, get a membership, it's worth it. Just wish they would open one close to Chattanooga.
  4. Welcome to the group... Noobi here myself.
  5. The lady who taught my HCP class told us that... You are not required by law to inform the officer you have a HCP, or that you are carrying. BUT... she, and the deputy for the local Sherriff's department who was in the class (his wife was taking the class), said that she advises, and the deputy agreed....   If you are pulled over, put your hands on the steering wheel, and advise the officer that you are "LEGALLY ARMED". Don't just stick your head out the window and yell "I HAVE A GUN". Then wait on the officer to reply, and follow what ever instructions he gives you.   The Sherriff's Deputy agreed, and said that was the best way to hanle it, and most time during stops like this, if there was not a major infraction, he THANKED the people and told them to have a good evening.   Also, if I'm not mistaken, you can now carry a loaded firearm in your car even it you don't have a HCP. Just don't get out of the car with it.
  6. Again.... THANKS to all for the post.
  7. zgunbear said...Without a round in the chamber a handgun is just a paperweight.   or a composite, metal and polymer, hammer.   and as someone else said... you can't call timeout in a gunfight.
  8. THANKS for the welcome to you all....
  9. See my post under the TN HCP Turn-around thread...   http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/topic/80467-tn-hcp-turn-around/page-2   As I stated there, seems like TDOS is doing a good job on processing applications quickly.
  10. Name is Jim, and I'm a new member from Chattanooga, and just wanted to say "Hi". My play toy is a H&K P30 9mm, which I haven't had long, but am really liking. Glad I found this website, great place for Tennessee gun owners to share info, hope I will be able to make some valuable contributions to the site.
  11. Filled out the online application on 1/3 and immediately got my confirmation number. Took the HCP Class at Carter's Shooting Supply in Harrison on 1/17. (Carter's is a GREAT place to go if you live in the Chattanooa area). Went to the DMV on 1/20 and got all the paperwork there done, and was fingerpinted that same afternoon. Just checked my application this morning and it was approved. They say it should arrive in my mailbox in 7-10 days. Much quicker turn around time than I expected. Kudo's to the TDOS.
  12. Lots of good cleaning products out there. Haven't tried Fireclean, but ran across some articles on Weapon Shield products a few months ago. Ordered this "Maintenance Kit" from Amazon.   http://www.amazon.com/Weapon-Shield-Maintenance-Kit-1oz/dp/B00IPQXC4M/ref=sr_1_4/189-3792796-0701534?s=sporting-goods&ie=UTF8&qid=1422313464&sr=1-4&keywords=weapons+shield   Used it a couple of times on my new HK P30, and threw all my other stuff out. Not saying it's the best, there's lots of good stuff out there, it's just what you feel works best for you.   My $0.02 worth.
