  1. At least our Governor has the sense to honor those who we lost, unlike that A$$HOLE in the White House.   Haven't heard anything definite yet on the memorial at the strip mall... but saw an interview with the property owner saying it was something he wanted to do. Soon as I see something definite I'll post it.
  2. I posted this on another thread, but thought it might be good to post it hear also. Staff Sgt. Wyatt will be buried in Chattanooga with full military honors.   http://www.wrcbtv.com/story/29572873/david-wyatt-local-husband-father
  3.   Well, when you're so FULL of it, stands to reason that everything you touch turns to it. Worst SOB that's ever been in the White House. He was in Chattanooga last year. Don't think, if he has any brains, he'll be back. Wait... he doesn't have any brains, so maybe we should be on the lookout.
  4.   THANKS OS... There's actually talk from the owner of the strip mall about erecting a permanent memorial to the fallen there. I'm sure I can speak from all of us in Chattanooga when I say, THANKS to you all for you thoughts, prayers and support in these trying times.
  5.     The people in Chattanooga have taken this very personal, and most are having a hard time dealing with it. I guess we all had the feeling that "it could never happen in our town". I'm sure the streets will be lined for the funeral procession, and if the crazies show up, will be taken care of.   FWIW... the picture posted above of the memorial on Lee Highway is only part of it. There's another one on Amnicola Highway, at the Naval/Marine OP's Center just as big if not bigger.
  6. Just saw this on the WRCB-TV website. Looks like Staff Sgt. Wyatt will be buried in the Chattanooga National Cemetery with full military honors.   http://www.wrcbtv.com/story/29572873/david-wyatt-local-husband-father
  7. Would you expect anything less from CNN? Biggest bunch of butt kissers I've ever seen.
  8. He was outside in a car, never went inside... just peppered the place. Then went to the Reserve Center on Amnicola Highway and killed 4 Marines before being taken out by local law enforcement. Prayers for the families of the Marines that were killed, and the officer and others that were wounded. Sad day in Chattanooga.   That "Reserve Center" is located adjacent to the Riverwalk area, huge playgrounds, etc. right next to it. Just fortunate that no one else was hurt. KUDO'S to the CPD and Hamilton County Sheriff's Departments.
  9. Great couple of post "TennFire"... lots of thing to think about, and email our representatives about.
  10.   "Unless you really want to.".... and have a valid HCP
  11.   An excellent idea Robert, BUT, if they don't even have the money (so they say) to take the old signs down, then I'm sure they don't have the money to print, and put up new ones.
  12. Nice post "RoadKill"... Good to know there are still some people in government that support us. Kind of a newbie to Tennessee, retired and moved here a couple of years ago. So, in your opinion, what the best way for us to help this lady out in her crusade?
  13.   Sorta, kinda think that's the same thing I said in the post a little above yours. Kind of a newbie here, but it seems like the sources I quoted in my previous post, could face some serious ramifications if they posted something that wasn't true... i.e. It became law when he signed the bill... That could have some serious consequences if they reported wrong, and as far as I can see the bill was written to become law immediately upon the Governor signing it.
  14.   According to this post at Knoxblogs.com, it went into law when he signed it....   "Gov. Bill Haslam today signed into law the “guns-in-parks” bill, though saying in a letter to legislators that he still has concerns about the measure (HB995)."   Here's a link to the blog site, it's the 2nd article down the page.   http://knoxblogs.com/humphreyhill/category/guns/   They also state that it went into law the minute he signed it.
  15. Wonder how this affects the Riverwalk Park areas in Chattanooga, particularly the area around Chicamauga Dam, and Chicamauga Lake.
  16.   Geezzzzz.... The last part of your post sounds just like the rantings from Harris from Memphis that I've seen a couple of time while viewing the streamings the legislature. Crazy logic... Protect the parks from the law abiding, HCP holders from coming in excercising their rights, so the thugs can come in and do what they want, and not have to worry about being challenged. But then again, if the people in power both locally and nationally, believed and supported the 2A, we wouldn't be having to talk about this.     Great post JAB... Guess we'll just have to see where this goes, and how (as others have asked) some of the gray areas are addressed.
  17. Any of you guys tried "LuckyGunner" in Knoxville? It's not a walk-in store, online sales only. Depending on what the local in-store prices are, you may pay a few pennys more per round with the shipping charges included. But if you're looking for ammo, per box, or bulk, they're the only place to go. Best prices on the internet, and incredibly fast delivery. I've place orders with them at 4pm on a Friday, and had it on my doorstep Monday morning. But, like the local stores, sometimes they have problems with keeping inventory up. Just my $0.02 worth.
  18.   Just checked the site, and it says that its been signed by Harwell...
  19.   Well, I think you got 2 out of 3 right...
  20.   GREAT POINT 300winmag... Wonder if our legislators, think three of the key onse are named Mickey, Goofy and Daffy, ever considered that... if I was a betting man, I place my  bet on the NO option. Another good thing to write your representative about.
  21. If I'm not mistaken, this scenario was the subject of another bill that was defeated. So you could actually be eating in an establishment that "is not" posted, find out that there is a teachers meeting being conducted in the back room, and be violating the law, or be walking down the street (legal carry) and find yourself suddenly watching a school parade, and guess what. I've watch some live steaming of the discussions of this bill in the House and Senate. Believe me, for those of you who can remember, it's better than watching an old Abbot and Costello routine. Kinda telling my age there...   What to me is more of a worry is the statement that the House would not accept the bill with the new amendment attached. If that happens, then it goes back to the Senate to either accept the bill without the admendment, or... guess it will die for another year.   Tennessee HCP holders are 500,000 stong... I'm kinda new to this state but I intend to write to my representatives this weekend and let them know my feelings on this subject. If they disagree with my support of the 2nd Amendment, then I guess I disagree with their ability to support this countries most sacred document, and will let them know it.   Rant over....   Jim
  22. Hey "Oh Shoot"... to quote that cat Garfield from the comic strips.... "I resemble that remark".   Thanks to you and the others who posted replies and helped clear this up for me. I wasn't concerned, but my friend was just surprised when he thought the fee was going to be $115, and wound up having to pay $152.50. I'll pass this info along to him, and again to all....THANKS FOR THE REPLIES.
  23. The commissioner shall issue an initial permit or permit renewal for three (3) to seven (7) years, whichever number is necessary to ensure that the permit will expire on each subsequent birth date of the permit holder that is divisible by five (5). It is the intent of this subdivision (n)(3) that after the initial renewal, the renewal date for persons who have both a handgun carry permit and a driver license be the same date.    OK, but I'm still confused. I'm now 69 years old, will turn 70 in December. My drivers license expires this year, OK it's an age divisible by 5. My HCP was issued in January of this year and expires in 2019, at which time I'll be 74, not divisible by 5. Like I said math isn't my forte...   Thanks for the reply to my initial post.   jb
  24. I decided to get my HCP in January of this year. Checked out a lot of stuff online, and saw that the fee was $115. Decided that was OK to help support my 2nd Rights, so took a class, went to DMV and paid my fee, got my fingerprinted done, and got my permit a couple of weeks later.   So... a friend of mine, and some friends of his decided they would get their permits. Took the class on Febuary 28th, but waited a few weeks to go to DMV. He was expecting to pay the $115 fee, but was charged $152.50. So I started doing some searching and came across this TN.GOV website regarding HCP permits.   http://www.tn.gov/safety/handgun/handgunfaqs.shtml   So if you look at "Question 1" in the second paragraph, second line down toward the end of the line, there is a link to this site...   http://www.tn.gov/safety/handgun/handgunfees.shtml   I know I'm old, and math wasn't my best subject, but I'm having a hard time figuring this pay scale out. If anyone can explain this to me.... would greatly appreciate it.   jb
  25. Most of the Benchmade knives are USA manufactured, including the HK series. It's easy to find out where the knife is made by checking sites such as Blade HQ, The Cuttlery Shoppe, just to mention a few. These sites always list where the knife is manufactured in the spec. section of the knife. I have seen some Benchmade's on Amazon's site that were made overseas. Benchmade is my go to company when looking for a knife, and as many here have stated their CS is excellant.
