Thank you very much. They used to have a store closer to town but the last time I went there it was gone (this was in the '80s). I thought they'd left Memphis.

Does anyone in the Memphis area know another place locally to get fly tying materials besides Basspro? I get tired of going down there just to find out that they have 1 out of 3-4 things I need.

I think I have a tape measure in every room of the house and at least one in each vehicle. -
Check out this method.

Welcome to Tennessee and TGO from just up the road. The two gun shops around here that have the largest inventories are Guns & Ammo on Summer and Classic Arms just off of Germantown Road. We have a Pawn shop up here in Atoka on Highway 51 that also has a decent selection of new guns (very few used). Of course, we have the two Basspro stores too. Shoot me a message if you have any questions about the area and I'll try to help. What part of Memphis are you located in? N, S, E, W?

New Kid In Rogersville Area

Welcome from the far end of the state. -
From what the County Clerk told me, they are going to do that, or at least, have the authority to do it. She also said that if someone gets insurance just so they can get their tags and then cancels it, the registration will be flagged in the data base.
-
Unless I’ve missed it in the news, there doesn’t seem to have been any reminder to the public about the last phase of the new vehicle insurance law going into effect tomorrow. Starting tomorrow, you have to have proof of insurance to renew your tags. The new fines and penalties went into effect last year but the County Clerk/Insurance Company’s data base is supposed to go on line tomorrow. I have a feeling that a lot of people are going to be in for a rude awakening. In case anyone missed it, driving without insurance is no longer just a traffic ticket, it’s a class C misdemeanor. If you’re involved in an accident with injuries, it’s a class A misdemeanor.

Beginner Tools necessary to build an AR
xsubsailor replied to Ronald_55's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
My first two have been kits from PSA (completed uppers) and I already had the tools that I needed to finish the lowers. The only thing that's stopped me from building an upper is the special tools needed. Like you, I don't know if I would build enough to justify the costs. BTW, don't forget the plastic bag -
Welcome to Tennessee, youngster

I like the threaded barrel.

Since you said this, come on down !!

I’ve been contemplating building one of these ever since I ran across it a couple years ago. Since it would probably be a wall hanger, I really would prefer a flintlock to make it more realistic. BLUNDERBUSS KIT By Traditions Specifications: • Overall length when completed will be approximately 29 ¼” • Barrel length is 16 ¼” • The smoothe bore is flared to 2 ¼” at the muzzle • 54 cal. percussion • Select hardwood unfinished stock • Brass trigger guard (single trigger) • Unfinished barrel • Approximately 8 lbs fully assembled. adult image

From your mouth (keyboard) to their ears House Republicans are re-launching a caucus with the goal of advancing pro-gun rights legislation on Capitol Hill. According to a statement from the office of Rep. Thomas Massie, R-Ky., the congressman will be chairing the third iteration of the Congressional Second Amendment Caucus. Earlier versions were active from 2004-08 and 2009-13. –– ADVERTISEMENT –– “The recent election results present us with a new opportunity to advance pro-gun legislation and reverse the erosion of the Second Amendment that's occurred over the last few decades. I look forward to working with the new President and this determined group of conservatives to promote a pro-gun agenda,” Massie said in the statement. The caucus will include: Reps. Jeff Duncan, R-S.C.; Ted Yoho, R-Fla.; Brian Babin, R-Texas; Paul Gosar, R-Ariz.; Mark Meadows, R-N.C.; Ken Buck, R-Colo.; Alex Mooney R-W.Va.; Justin Amash, R-Mich; Jody Hice, R-Ga.; Dave Brat, R-Va.; Warren Davidson, R-Ohio; Scott Perry, R-Pa.; and James Comer, R-Ky. The group intends to lead efforts in the House to “pass meaningful firearms legislation” and protect against any infringement on the Second Amendment. "Preserving the right to keep and bear arms is essential to maintaining freedom and liberty in our country,” said former Rep. Paul Broun, R-Ga., who chaired the caucus during its second run from 2009 through 2013. http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2016/12/09/members-congress-to-reload-gun-rights-caucus.html

I've built 3 rifles, 2 pistols and a couple of BP revolvers and none of them have been a lot of trouble. I've also got a CVA double shotgun sitting around here somewhere that I've had for years and haven't started yet. By far, best kit was a Thompson Center Hawkin but it was many years ago. It turned out too pretty to take out in the woods so I built a Traditions kit to hunt with. The CVA kits were ok but required a lot more work than the others. If you want to venture out a little more then you might check out Track of the Wolf at the link below. I'm not an expert but I might be able to answer some of your questions. I'm just over here in Drummonds. https://www.trackofthewolf.com/Index.aspx I forgot about another place, it's called the Possibleshop. Never ordered a kit from them but quite a bit of other stuff. Can't question their customer service. I sent too much for shipping and when I got my order there was a check in there for the difference. http://www.possibleshop.com/

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Officials said two juveniles are responsible for the devastating Sevier County wildfires. At a 3 p.m. news conference Wednesday, authorities told media outlets that two juveniles have been charged with aggravated arson for their roles in allegedly starting wildfires. The two minors were taken into custody Wednesday morning after a petition was filed in juvenile court charging them with aggravated arson. They are currently being held at the Sevier County Juvenile Detention Center. The District Attorney said the juveniles are not from Sevier County, but are residents of Tennessee. Officials say, "everything is on the table," and said the two juveniles could be facing more charges or could be tried as adults. http://www.local8now.com/content/news/Officials-Two-juveniles-charged-for-starting-Sevier-Co-wildfires-405283765.html

I think if it was me, I would leave it in the same condition that it's in. Pass it on down the line along with the history.
