  2. I agree.
  3. I'm about as far away from the Air Force as one could get but welcome any way
  4. Welcome from the western end of the state
  5. I think I just saw a flicker of light at the end of the tunnel Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas had stern words for his colleagues when the Court declined to hear a case challenging California’s handgun laws, saying that the jurists do not understand the importance of self-defense. The case, supported by the National Rifle Association, involves San Diego resident Edward Peruta, who challenged his county’s refusal to grant him permission to carry a concealed firearm outside of his home. “For those of us who work in marbled halls, guarded constantly by a vigilant and dedicated police force, the guarantees of the Second Amendment might seem antiquated and superfluous,” Thomas wrote after most members of the court declined to hear the California case. “But the Framers made a clear choice: They reserved to all Americans the right to bear arms for self-defense. I do not think we should stand by idly while a State denies its citizens that right, particularly when their very lives may depend on it,” Thomas said. Justice Neil Gorsuch, the Court’s newest member, joined Thomas’ statement on the court’s refusal to hear the case, calling the decision by the 9th circuit on Peruta v. San Diego “indefensible.” A case needs to be approved by at least four justices in order to get on the Supreme Court’s docket. “The Second Amendment’s core purpose further supports the conclusion that the right to bear arms extends to public carry,” Thomas wrote. “Even if other Members of the Court do not agree that the Second Amendment likely protects a right to public carry, the time has come for the Court to answer this important question definitively.” The San Diego County Sheriff’s department has very narrow restrictions for concealed carry permits. Only those who can prove they have a regular need for self-defense against a specific threat are granted concealed permits. “The whole point of the Sheriff’s policy is to confine concealed-carry licenses to a very narrow subset of law-abiding residents,” Peruta’s attorneys wrote. “And because California law prohibits openly carrying a handgun outside the home, the result is that the typical law-abiding resident cannot bear a handgun for self-defense outside the home at all.” http://dailycaller.com/2017/06/26/justice-thomas-calls-out-the-supreme-court-for-not-believing-in-the-second-amendment/
  6. Glad to see it moving again. The last time I checked, (about a month ago) it hadn't moved since Feb.
  7. The hypocrisy is strong here. This is from yesterday. National reciprocity legislation has been sitting in Congress since January 3, 2017, and we have heard of a growing roster of co-sponsors but little else. Then suddenly, following the June 14 attack in Alexandria, numerous Republican Congressional members were consumed with national reciprocity. But the problem is that many House members now focused on national reciprocity are consumed with special carry privileges for Congress; carry privileges the common man will never enjoy. For example, Breitbart News reported that Rep. Brian Babin (R-TX) put forward post-Alexandria legislation that will give congressmen “the ability to attempt to qualify for a concealed carry permit – either through their home state or a training program created by the United States Capitol Police (USCP).” And for those who acquire a permit, the bill will: To be clear, Babin also supports the national reciprocity legislation introduced in Congress on January 3. But that reciprocity bill has not been passed and, even when it does, it will not give the common man the carry privileges Babin wants to secure for the ruling class. The chasm between the common man and the ruling class was well illustrated by Rep. Mo Brooks (R-AL), during a June 21 interview on Breitbart News Daily. Like Babin, Brooks supports two separate approaches to national reciprocity, one for the common man and one for the ruling class. After assuring listeners that he supports reciprocity legislation for average Americans, Brooks said that people have “to recognize that congressmen are different from the regular citizens of the United States.” He described the difference: Missing from Brooks’ illustration is the fact that “regular citizens” face terror threats as well; such threats are not specific to the ruling class. For example, 49 “regular citizens” were killed in the June 12, 2016, Orlando terrorist attack and 14 “regular citizens” were killed in the December 2, 2015, San Bernardino terrorist attack. Ought not these attacks–and others than could be listed–justify calls to give “regular citizens” the same carry privileges being sought by Babin, Brooks, and the rest of the ruling class? http://www.breitbart.com/big-government/2017/06/23/national-reciprocity-america-first-must-replace-congress-first/
  8. Eastern Fox Squirrel ?? Largest North American Squirrel Above we mentioned that the Eastern Fox Squirrel is the largest tree squirrel in native to North America. So just how big are these furry rodents? The average size of this particular squirrel is about 45 to 70 cm (17.7 to 27.6″) in length…and this is not counting their 33 cm (13″) long tail. If you stop for a moment and think about this (and I recommend that you do), you will quickly realize that a squirrel measuring over 3 feet (if you include their tail) is incredibly large, especially if they are as creepy looking as the Eastern Grey Squirrel (I don’t know why but they creep me out). Interestingly enough, these gigantic squirrels are still very adept to living a life in the trees, even if they spend most of their time on the ground. I guess when you are this large you can choose where you want to live without having to take slack from anyone or anything. http://www.wild-facts.com/2013/wild-fact-134-a-snowy-social-life-eastern-fox-squirrel/

  14. Well, I finally had time to actually walk around and look the place over: not impressed . I looks like a small version of Academy with a Walmart fishing section. It's only been open for about 3 weeks and except for their Grand Opening I haven't seen more then 6-8 cars in the parking lot at one time. I did use one of their 20% coupons to buy some crossbow bolts, which saved me a couple bucks and a 30 mile round trip. With two Basspros within 20 miles and Walmart two blocks away, I expect a "Going out of business sale" around the end of the year.
  15. Did you look through their website? If all else fails, you can go to www.chevytalk.org and I'm sure someone will be able to help.

  18. Feisty little lady you Kingsport folks got there A home invasion went horribly wrong for a man who tried to rob a woman. Police say the diminutive 52-year-old woman who lives there grabbed a bat and started hitting him in the face. It happened in Kingsport, Tenn. Police say on Saturday night the woman answered a knock at her door to find a woman holding a flyer about a lost dog. As soon as she opened the door, a masked man stepped into the doorway, grabbed her arm, and attempted to pull her outside. When that failed, police say the masked man pushed the resident back inside the home and shouted, "This is a robbery!" A struggle ensued, during which time the 4'11" tall victim was able to partially remove the mask from the suspect’s face. In doing so, she immediately recognized the man as Joe Sotello, a longtime family friend. She says she also noticed what appeared to be a handgun tucked in Sotello’s waistband. She grabbed a baseball bat from behind the door and fought back in what police described as a "clearly justifiable self-defense." Two 18-year old females were also in the house and came to the woman's defense. Together, the three women physically drove Sotello out of the house and onto the front lawn. The woman who had been holding the flyer took off in a car befoer Sotello could get into it. She was later identified to be Sotello’s girlfriend. Sotello was arrested for aggravated robbery, aggravated burglary and taken to a local hospital for medical clearance before sent to the Kingsport City Jail. After giving several false statements regarding the incident and his whereabouts, police say that Sotello eventually confessed to his crime, stating that he “had been going through some hard times.” Police say the victim was a foot shorter and 100 pounds lighter than the suspect but that didn't stop her from teaching him a painful lesson. http://www.foxnews.com/us/2017/05/01/tennessee-woman-beats-home-invasion-suspect-with-baseball-bat.html
  19. This engineer is a day late and dollar short. This article is from 2009. Plastic Roads Offer Greener Way to Travel in India NEW DELHI, INDIA — In the 1990s, Ahmed Khan’s company in Bangalore, India, churned out hundreds of thousands of plastic bags and other packaging material each month that eventually ended up as garbage. Now, he is in the business of scouring the city’s landfills and trash cans to reclaim some of that waste and pave the way to a more environmentally friendly enterprise. Mr. Khan, 60, is trying to solve two of the biggest problems in India: battered roads and overflowing landfills. His solution: streets made with recycled plastic. Mr. Khan’s company, K.K. Plastic Waste Management, which he founded with his brother, Rasool Khan, has built more than 1,200 kilometers, or 745 miles, of roads using 3,500 tons of plastic waste, primarily in Bangalore, India’s technology and outsourcing hub. Mixing plastic with asphalt, Mr. Khan forms a compound called polymerized bitumen. When used in roads, it withstands monsoons and everyday wear and tear better than traditional pavement. https://www.nytimes.com/2009/11/14/business/global/14plastic.html

  22. Just wanted to give the guys in this area a heads up. They opened yesterday afternoon and are going to have their grand opening next Friday. They have a ton of .22 ammo but I wasn't overly impressed with their prices. I believe they may be a little lower then Basspro but it's been a while since I was there. A couple I remember.....Federal Automatch 325 rnd. for $22.99 and CCI Mini-Mag 100 rnd. for $9.99..
  23. Will this work? When I first started teaching my daughter to shoot, I made up some wax loads for a .38. I drilled out the primer hole on some cases to 1/8" and used magnum primers with a wax "bullet" and it worked great. How about, magnum primer, cardboard wad, walnut media and cardboard wad? Fourtyfive, what end of the state are you in?
  24. I wonder if they will have any bell bottoms................... shirts, that is
