  1. North American Promotions is having a gun show this month not too far from me and I was wondering if anyone has attended their shows in the past and if so, their opinion
  2. Welcome from the western end
  3. I wouldn't do that yet. If the liberal left takes control in 2020 you might have to increase your deductions
  4. I finally got my 1099s and figured out my taxes. My tax bill went down by $878 and my refund went up about $300 so I'm happy for now.
  5. I think a lot of people are still under the impression that it's harmful to the gun to be dry fired.
  6. I used to have an asbestos tongue but after the doctor put me on Niacin things begin to change. I can still handle quite a bit of heat but nowhere near as much as before. I might have to give these a try though.
  7. There's a hint deeply hidden in this statement
  8. I ran into bigun early last week in front of the little neighborhood grocery in Munford that sold that $500+ Million lottery ticket last year. We got to talking about the lottery which jogged my feeble memory of something I intended to do last year but kept putting it off. I sent the following to my House Rep. In Nashville. There was more to it, samples of reasons and such but this was the meat of it. Maybe if this is brought up by House Reps. and State Senators from all over the state it could get done. I can’t think of one single reason why anyone would be against it except for those who are anti-lottery. I’m writing to request legislation be passed that would allow lottery winners in our state to remain anonymous. There are currently seven states that allow winners to remain anonymous if they desire and I believe Tennessee should be added to that group. I’m sure this could be passed by our representatives and Governor, which would be the easiest way, but if placed on the ballot of a general election I believe it would be approved by at least 95% of the voters.
  9. I curious to see if these companies that sell ammo are going to start adding sales tax to the price.
  10. is forensic anthropology a good career
  11. Great picture You're an hour ahead of me
  12. No, I was attending IC"B" school. Fortunately for me I was an E-5 and E-4's and below were required to shovel snow
  13. ....................and then I read the caption under this picture and suddenly felt warmer. Guess where I was at this time in 1966. The chill factor when I was there was just -45 but this morning it hit -52.
  14. With combined state and local, we're already number two with the highest rate in the country. Only Louisiana has a higher sales tax rate. BTW, I agree with you on the income tax statement
  15. I got a shock today when placing an order with Midway, they've started adding sales tax to their orders. I placed an order in Nov. and had no tax added so this much have started this year. I wonder if it's just a Midway thing or if all on-line sellers are going to have to include taxes ( I know they're supposed to but most don't)
  16. I don't know what kind of critters you have over there in your part of the state but I can tell you from experience that even a 14' Jon boat gets rather small when you share it with a cottonmouth (longest 1/2 hour of my life ). I think I would just turn a kayak over to him .
  17. Glockstore.com, which sells parts and accessories for Glock handguns will relocate its headquarters from California to Nashville. Glockstore.com founder and CEO Lenny Magill told The Tennessee Star Monday that he and other company officials plan to set up shop in Music City in the fall of 2019, roughly one year from now. The current headquarters is in San Diego. “We have 100 employees here in San Diego, and we will at some point have 100 people in Nashville as well,” Magill said. “Some of our employees will not move from San Diego. We have about 80 positions that we will fill in Nashville.” Magill said he and other company officials are making the move because they had to get away from California’s high-tax rates. “We looked at Texas. We looked at Atlanta in depth. Those were the areas we really looked at. We even thought about Nevada, but we chose Nashville for a couple of reasons. We looked at those areas because of the low taxes in those areas,” Magill said. “These are gun-friendly states, and we wanted to be a little more centrally located for shipping and handling. That is what Nashville really had going for it, as far as location. It is a destination town already. We feel we could benefit from that.” According to The Nashville Post, Glockstore.com describes itself as the United States’ largest online retailer of Glock-specific OEM (original equipment manufacturer) parts and aftermarket performance parts that allow users to customize their Glock handguns. Glockstore.com will relocate to 1930 Air Lane Drive. The location will have a retail showroom and a manufacturing operation. Magill told The Post the retail showroom “will feature — in addition to Glock handguns, parts, accessories, logo clothing and hats — several indoor shooting rooms that will allow for one-on-one instruction and the chance to shoot at multiple targets in multiple directions.” The manufacturing operation, The Post went on to say, will consist of 12 CNC machines that make aftermarket performance parts for Glock handguns, he said. The company is not affiliated with Glock Inc., The Post reported. Magill told The Star that California’s economic development and other business interests did nothing to encourage him to stay. “They didn’t do a thing,” Magill said. “People in Nashville are super-friendly and super nice. People tend to be a tad friendlier there.” http://tennesseestar.com/2018/10/23/glockstore-com-will-relocate-hq-to-nashville/
  18. Welcome to the group from the left coast (of Tennessee)
  19. A pretty good review of it. https://youtu.be/63qF-4TV3So
  20. I'm curious to what it headspaces on. If it's not tapered and headspaces on the case mouth it could be a problem to reload unless you trim every time.
  21. Here's a little more info on it. https://winchester.com/350-Legend
  22. I was going to get one of these but decided it was overkill just for me. You can get all kinds of accessories, they only draw about 4" of water and are supposed to be very stable. I went with a 10' Pond Prowler instead. http://www.protatch.com/pontoon-boats/
  23. This one's not a muzzleloader and doesn't look like my type of fun Ever wonder why shotguns tend to come standard with shoulder stocks? Well, it's because of the incredible amount of recoil they can produce. That is why a pistol chambered for a 12-gauge shotgun shell is a really bad idea. In a video shared on Youtube by The Canadian Gun Vault Inc. shows a weapon that has been designated as a pistol. That strange occurrence happened through a shipping error and the laws then considered these pistols instead of shotguns. The Rossi 12 Gauge Shotgun Pistol then became a rare but real weapon. This shooters fires just a couple hot shotgun slugs out of this wicked little beast before he calls it quits. Wrist breaking recoil is what can be expected from this Rossi 12 Gauge Shotgun Pistol. Would you be brave or foolish enough to fire it yourself?
  24. After reading my OP I can see how you misunderstood what I meant. I used last years (2017) numbers with the new tax forms and the same withholding. Yes, you're correct. The withholding for 2018 decreased so we would see an increase month to month so the amount I paid in will be less, hence less of a refund. I guess I just should have just said my taxes for 2018 decreased $1360 from 2017 while my income stayed the same. Since I haven't received my 1099s for 2018 I have no idea how much of a refund, if any, I will be getting.
