  1. Welcome to the group from the western end of the state. Just want to warn you that you're in the right part of the state to spend lots of money ( A lot of nice things come up for sale in the classifieds around that area)

  4. My next purchase, if nothing catches my eye first, is going to be a Uberti in .357. Still looking for the unicorn (Rossi 92 in 357). Right now I have two Rossi lever guns, 24" rifle, 16"carbine and a Vaquero in 45 Colt.
  5. Give these folks a call Monday. They're the ones that import/sell them. exxon near me now
  6. I'd tell them to use the money they haven't paid back for the cancelled high speed rail system
  7. As a range toy, I'd go with the Uberti. I don't know about Taylor but from what I understand is that a Cimarron is just a Uberti with a Cimarron roll stamp ( kind of like buying a black powder revolver from Cabelas and having their name on it). The Ruger may or may not have it's own problem depending on your requirements. They are known for having tight, or not uniform cylinder throats which may cause accuracy problems. I'm not that picky and am quite satisfied with my factory Vaquero and Blackhawk.
  8. A jury found decorated Navy SEAL Edward "Eddie" Gallagher not guilty Tuesday on almost all charges he was facing, including murder and attempted murder, in the killing of a teenage Islamic State member in Iraq. Jurors did find him guilty of the seventh charge, posing for a photo with a casualty, considered the least egregious of the crimes, which carries a maximum prison sentence of four months. "We have a sentencing to do, but the maximum sentence of what they’re about to sentence him on is much less than the time that they’ve already had him in the brig," defense attorney Tim Parlatore said after Tuesday's verdict. "So he is going home." https://www.foxnews.com/us/navy-seal-edward-gallagher-found-not-guilty-on-murder-and-attempted-murder-charges

  11. I don't know if anyone else has been following this or not but the prosecution seems to have developed a little SNAFU in their case A medic testifying in the trial of Navy SEAL Edward Gallagher – who is accused of killing an injured ISIS prisoner of war in Iraq – shocked trial observers when he testified Thursday that he, not Gallagher, was responsible for the Islamic militant's death. Special Operator 1st Class Corey Scott, a SEAL Team Seven medic, revealed during cross-examination in the courtroom at Naval Base San Diego that he killed the fighter by asphyxiation. Scott testified that he saw Gallagher stab the fighter, but then he himself held his thumb over a breathing tube that had been inserted into the militant's mouth. “Did Chief Gallagher kill this terrorist?” Gallagher's attorney Timothy Parlatore then asked Scott. "No," Scott replied. https://www.foxnews.com/us/medic-testifies-that-he-not-navy-seal-eddie-gallagher-was-responsible-for-isis-fighters-death

  15. MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - Brandon Webber was wanted on multiple felony warrants out of Mississippi when he died Wednesday. District Attorney John Champion, of the 17th Circuit Court of Mississippi, says Webber was suspected of shooting a DeSoto County man five times when he met the man to buy a car. Speaking at a news conference Thursday, Champion said Webber met the victim in Hernando earlier this month. He test drove the victim’s vehicle, got out and shot the victim “in cold blood.” Webber then took off in the victim’s car. The victim, who is still in the hospital, picked Webber out of a photo lineup. A second suspect in that shooting is still at large. Champion says the Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force was responsible for taking Webber into custody. He also says the car Webber was driving when he encountered marshals Wednesday was the earlier victim’s car. https://www.wmcactionnews5.com/2019/06/13/prosecutor-says-man-killed-by-marshals-was-suspect-desoto-county-shooting/
  16. I was happy to see that each one I was considering was mentioned in this thread. Every one of them has positive reviews but I think I've narrowed it down to a couple. The CZ 455 was discontinued in 2018 and replaced with the CZ 457 and it was a little more than I wanted to pay for a toy. A little info on it is here: https://cz-usa.com/product/cz-457-american/ I am a huge Ruger fan but absolutely hate the stocks on the Americans. I haven't figured out yet what it is but something about them just doesn't feel right to me. I know they're available with wooden stocks but those are up there in the CZ price range. That leaves me with the Marlin XT 22M and the Savage 93 F. I can get the Marlin with a wooden stock or the Savage with synthetic stock for the same price. I've also found the Marlin with a synthetic stock for about $30 less than the wooden one but am willing to pay the difference for the wood. The synthetic stock on them feels really cheap compared to the one on the Savage. Thanks for all the imputs
  17. I wonder how hard it's going to be to convince these retail places that we don't have to pay their ammo tax after the end of the month even though they've already paid for the little stamps. nearest chase bank near me
  18. Smack you thumb with a hammer, you'll forget all about the shingles (at least for a while)
  19. I have a Single Six Conv. that I bought in 1965. That was the good ol' days. I was an Okla. resident and walked into a store something like a Service Merchandise in Norfolk, Va. paid for the gun and walked out with it. Last week while out searching for a Wrangler, this one followed me home. Not a great deal but a decent one ($424 OTD)
  20. A shop called Arms Fair over near Germantown (Memphis area). The one they had was the gray with black cylinder.
  21. I finally got to lay my hands on one of these today and was surprised that it was as heavy as it was. I'm not real sure if it's any lighter than my single six's.
  22. Plus, you never know when you might run into this guy
