Looks like you folks in Eastern Tn. may be having a few visitors before long. As the summer of 2004 waned, so did the lifespan, just a few weeks long, of those adult cicadas, and the larvae of the next generation dropped back to the earth where they would spend the next 17 years. This spring -- 17 years later -- those cicadas are part of Brood X (ominous as the "X" sounds, it stands for the Roman numeral ten) and for all that time they have been underground eating and growing. Researchers aren't sure exactly how many will surface, except that it will be in the billions: They estimate the numbers will be at least 1.5 million per acre, which could mean as many as 30 of the creatures covering your average square foot. https://abcnews.go.com/Politics/cicada-invasion-17-years-underground-billions-emerge-spring/story?id=76921532

I had a "be notified" request in at Midway for when they had some nickel plated 357 Starline brass come in. I check my e-mail when I get up and then again around 6-7. Notification came in at 11:00 am and it was, of course, gone by the time I checked my mail in the evening but at least they received some Starline. Maybe they are catching up.

Another shortage caused by Covid. Over the past year, a combination of changing consumer needs and issues stemming from the pandemic has caused a variety of shortages. These supply issues have ranged from toilet paper to aluminum cans and even pepperoni. Now, garden gnomes can be added to that list. https://www.foxnews.com/lifestyle/garden-gnome-shortage-pandemic-suez-canal-blockage

Need Shotgun Help from Browning and Savage Fox Experts
xsubsailor replied to Wdodd's topic in General Chat
According to Fjestad's blue book the Savage/Fox 16 ga. is worth $450 in 100% condition and $200 in 60%. The book is known for inflating prices also. -
The Justice Department, within 30 days, will issue a proposed rule to help stop the proliferation of “ghost guns.” We are experiencing a growing problem: criminals are buying kits containing nearly all of the components and directions for finishing a firearm within as little as 30 minutes and using these firearms to commit crimes. When these firearms turn up at crime scenes, they often cannot be traced by law enforcement due to the lack of a serial number. The Justice Department will issue a proposed rule to help stop the proliferation of these firearms. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ As someone on another forum pointed out, depending on how vaguely this is written it could cover a lot more than appears in the statement. They are going to have to make sure the the issue of muzzleloaders not being considered a firearm is addressed. I recently purchased a Pennsylvania long rifle kit from Dixie gun works that came fully assembled except for a couple of small items not attached. It could probably be fired straight out of the box. Most of the handgun kits from Dixie are the same. The only reason I'm bringing this up is because of Cabela's new policy (from what I've heard) is that the same paperwork & background check has to be done for black powder guns as cartridge guns. This could be the top of another slippery slope.

Bet that got some attention Many years ago ( pre internet ) I ran across a recipe for a Jamaican version of ox tail soup and at the time couldn't find any tail. I was on base today shopping at the commissary and they had some so I decided to finally try the soup recipe.....WRONG !!!! $7.50 per pound for cut up pieces of a cow's tail !!! and I would need 2 1/2 - 3 pounds to make the soup. I don't care how good it's supposed to be, there's no way I'm going to spend that much money for any soup.

If you have a Costco in your area, check theirs out. Same hearing aids as elsewhere but quite a bit cheaper. There's other perks too, but they would have to explain all of that to you.
