  1. One of the worst parts of this is I apparently look just like my bio father who died along time ago and was an abusive alcoholic asshat, so I spend a lot of time on moms bad days convincing her I am not him and she doesn't have to be afraid of me.
  2. First of all let me say my mom has dementia, and after my step dad died last year I moved her in with my family to take care of her.  Well at around 3 am I hear her in the living room crying so I get up to make sure she is ok, and when I open my bedroom door she looks up and points my .38 at me and pulls the trigger, talk about a crap your pants moment!!!!  She was looking for my sister as a baby and thought I had kidnapped her. Now luckily she didn't have time or didn't think to load the gun, but it could have been really bad.  I keep my old .38 in my gun cabnet unloaded because I don't carry it very often anymore and the spare keys I keep hung on the wall, out of the reach of my 4yr old son and grandson, but it never entered my head that I needed to put them where she couldn't get them, although in hindsight I guess it should have. I just post this because like I said I never thought about her getting into my guns, so maybe if there is someone out there in a similar situation it will get them thinking before they wake up like I did this morning.
  3. I've seen the HP 45 around here for anywhere from $149 to $199 I always stayed away from them cause I figured you get what you pay for and I've read a lot of posts about them being very inaccurate, but i'm thinking about picking one up just to test it for myself, if nothing else I can keep it around for a couch gun.
  4. maybe im not as proficient at it as I thought I was lol
  5. WOW that is faster than me, from a shooting stance, dropping the cylinder, ejecting the shells, pulling the reloader from the carry case, reload, shut cylinder, and cock hammer takes me 25-30 seconds, I can reload my 9 in 5-8 seconds.
  6. I use safari push reloaders I just find them quicker than s&k knob reloader and I fully admit even with years of practice I can reload my 9mm a full 20 seconds faster than my .38 or .357 (yes I have timed it for kicks and giggles lol) and that's in a non stress environment  I guess I never expected the possibility of needing more than 6 rounds in a hurry to protect myself. I was fully convinced my revolver was all I needed at the start of this thread but now I am torn lol. I guess I need to do some more research on the issue before I make up my mind again thanks everyone!!
  7. Hello all, My name is John, I live in Newport TN. I love shooting guns and anything that goes boom lol. I am a old school revolver man and own a Rossi .357 and a Smith & Wesson .38 special. I also own a Canik C100 9MM and a Mossberg 12 gauge pump. I could live at Buds gun store and range in Sevierville and Knoxville if they would let me. I do most of my shooting at Bubbling Springs outdoor range in Del Rio TN mainly because it's so close to my house, and costs a total of $2.00 a day (can't beat that with a stick) just wanted to say hi and introduce myself.
  8. I shoot both types accurately if cornered I would have to say more so with my Rossi .357 mainly because it's my carry weapon so I pump a lot more rounds thru it than the rest at the practice range. The revolvers just feel more comfortable to me, and my son says just the opposite, he grew up shooting my revolvers but when he started buying is own guns he was Semi auto all the way.
  9. Have you not seen Walking Dead???? Ninja sword all the way baby!!!!!!
  10. I'm drooling
  11. Yeah I guess it just comes down to personal preference I was taught how to shoot and gun safety from my dad with a .22 8 shot revolver so I guess that's why I lean so heavily toward them, don't get me wrong I like the 9mm just fine but it just doesn't have the same "old friend" feeling that my revolvers have. After reading the posts here I think I will still carry the 357 as my main weapon but also strap on the 9 or maybe a good .380 for a backup for my lead volume.
  12. Well at least with the Hi Point if you miss shooting them (and from what I've heard that's very likely) you can always club them with the big awkward thing lol
  13. Took right at 3 weeks for mine I think they just tell you 90 days so you don't call every week.
  14. Ok, here's my thing. I am now and have always been a revolver man, but somehow I have managed to raise a son that is a total semi auto fan. His main argument with me is the amount of ammo a semi can carry v/s the revolver, and I say if I can't get the job done with 6 shots from my 357 mag I need to give up! So as my first post on here I figured I would bring it to you all and ask you to post your opinion on REVOLVER v/s semi auto!!! BTW I own a S&W 38 and a Rossi 357 mag, and yes I did break down and buy an Canik 55 C100 9mm but only because I caught it at a going out of business sale at a local small gun store and got it for the unbelievable price of $110.00 new in the box. My son Stephen owns a S&W M&P 40, and a Ruger 9mm.
