  1. I've been doing that! Also in the yard. Monkey wears his in a weird spot (to me). I wear mine almost exactly opposite of him. I think I'm also going to try an OWB as well. I might carry the Glock 26 instead of my 29. Gonna see!
  2. I got passed today by a Toyota Mini Van, I was talking smack under my breath, but when he went past me I suddenly felt ok. His bumper sticker said "the best form of gun control is to use both hands". I instantly liked him.
  3. Ok, so far so good! Went to DMV or Dept of Safety (north vs. south, ha!). I got every done there. $152.60 so it pro-rated me so I won't renew my HCP til I hit 40. ? I am going to get finger printed tomorrow at 11. And then we wait. Being that I've only ever got 1 speeding ticket, I'm thinking I'll get approved! LOL I already have my IWB holster so I'm good to go there. Clothing I will need to make a few changes. I'm gonna need to buy bigger shirts. All in all its been a little over $200 to get this done. I'm totally ok with that. As for situational awareness, I think I have always been a wee bit too observant of that. It got worse when I met Monkey. Which is not anything bad to be. Getting used to carrying will be the interesting thing. Gotta find that perfect spot in your pants! Ha! They said it can take up to 3 months for approval, I am hoping not. But we'll see. Fingers crossed. Thanks again for all the help and input! I really appreciate it!
  4. Don't we really mean hipsters?? Skinny jeans, small hats, clear Ray-Ban glasses, a lot of plaid clothing, buster browns, man buns and murses. Ugh! Part of the reason we fled the big city!!
  5. Will do! I know that my instructor said I be prepared to pay up to $180 for it. He said you pay the $115 for the HCP but then try prorate it also for the length of time until your license expires? I guess so that way you have longer? Not sure. I gotta get dinner in the oven and then we'll be heading out!
  6. Thanks. I had to order my birth certificate because I misplaced mine. Evidently the state needs to see it even though they already have. Just got it yesterday so I'll be going today to file everything and apply for my HCP!
  7. Maybe you should teach her how to change it? Once I learned how to change the oil and filters, I do my own. For my Bronco and my Sequoia. I find it relaxing, maybe she would too. Just a thought.
  8. It was fairly simple. I was honest in my add, mentioned frame damage and everything. Took lots of pictures. The guy came with a flatbed and $700 cash. He said he knew his young son would wreck his first car so he was gonna patch it and that's it. Granted not every person is a dream buyer BUT if you're honest about what's wrong, most people are smart enough to plan. No matter what you decide, good luck!
  9. A charity is great, but if you decide to sell/scrap definitely sell on CL!! I had a car get totaled in a wreck on 24. I got double selling it compared to what the scrap yards were offering!
  10. Oh, I do NOT miss that! When we left the city we 86'd all cable services. We have a roku 3 and stream any and everything we want. So much cheaper, no hassle, no getting a headache about bills, rising rates or just the general piss poor attitude of their CSR's! I feel for you!
  11. No, I was pretty great. There's a semi-large hole in the middle where it should be, thankfully. I had a few misfires (we think it was a magazine issue). I even had to switch 1911's during which got me a bit shook up. That's when I had a few bad shots. But it was great. Maybe I did for the yardage. I just know it wasn't as bad as I anticipated. I always over think things but today felt good. Like a nerd I have no idea where my birth certificate is so I have one on order from Michigan. I should be able to go get everything done by next week.
  12. Saw a 43 in stock today when I was taking my class. $499!
  13. Well I am happy to report that I have passed. You were all right! A big huff over nothing. 100 on my written test and 96 on my shooting. I had pretty excellent grouping at 3 and 7 yard, after that I got squirrelly. All in all an EXCELLENT class with a perfect instructor. I learned a lot and he even gave pointers at the range which helped a lot. Thanks again for all the help and feed back!
  14. I'll be using my 1911 for the shooting portion. I have lots of mags for it so I will be sure to bring them. I just wanted to thank you all for your input. It is greatly appreciated!!
  15. Yes, I was informed by a long time local yesterday that it's mostly rich or retired dentists, accountants and other not so scary people. Where I am from, any hog rally meant a much different crowd than what this will be. Or so I am told. I don't have a problem with either kind as long as they leave me alone. But I also do not want to deal with extra traffic, accidents or other BS so I choose to stay out of town to avoid it.
  16. What about 10mm? I love my .45 but that new 10mm has been amazingly fun when target shooting.
  17. I know I would name mine. I've always wanted a pig named Violet and Hamsel and Gretel. I couldn't imagine it but God, I love bacon.
  18. You aren't cold hearted. I'm just a pushover when it comes to animals. I agree 1,000% I just couldn't take part in the "final stages" of its life!
  19. Thanks! As for the HR, it's actually next week and I was told be a long time resident these will be the "old fart, rich bikers on new Harley's". So no Waco Twin Peaks 2.0! So I'm cool! :-)
  20. Thanks Bersa :) I carried in my vehicle today. Hog Rally coming too so extra motivation because you never know. She's been riding with me since Saturday after it happened. She will continue to until I get the HCP Class done and hopefully approved. I don't know what the waiting period is after the class but my G29 will be with me in the car until I can legally carry everywhere! Dang dogs and my heart. They know how to get me. Just wish I would have grabbed her and ran!
  21. So looking forward to the Hog Rally this week in Cookeville! Or not... I'll be stocking up on groceries for the week after work tonight. Also cut my hours back this week so I only have to come into town twice during the whole shebang. Just a heads up if you're coming to the area it's Tuesday - Saturday night.
  22. Thanks. The reason I am taking this class is because the instructor is super knowledgable and he also will be most likely fun. I just need to relax and learn. I'm pretty sure I will do ok.
  23. I now know that. I was not familiar with the law to the point where I felt comfortable doing it. I now have had it clearly explained to me and I have carried it every time I left the house since.
  24. Speak for yourself kind sir! There's nothing like a crispy waffle with sticky and sweet syrup from the awful Waffle! Sure, some are disgusting pits of toxic hell. However, there are a few "decent ones".
