  1. Funny you mention the awkward part because the officials in that area have been talking about building a loop to connect I-75, GA 400, and I-985 for a LONG time but it'll never happen...too many farms and rural areas dont want it and I dont blame them. Everytime they build a new loop or new interstate Atlanta spreads towards it and thats not something anybody wants to happen.
  2. That really only applies to downtown Atlanta and stuff inside of the Perimeter...the area that she's looking at are far enough North that it doesnt really apply. She'll literally be closer to the North Carolina Smokey Mountains than Atlanta more than likely... Her thread should be called "North GA" instead of North Atlanta based on where she's looking lol she'll be 50 miles from the NC border...
  3. They have an alligator farm and a fort lol...I used to live in Jacksonville so I know the area pretty well. Not a whole lot to do, but its a nice little get away from the normal places people usually go in the Carolina's or the gulf coast. Cool restaurants and a few little tourist things to do, but mainly its just an old "oldest in the country" little town on the beach. The ghost tours are pretty cool also.
  4. No matter where you stay...You have to go to Columbia in the old part of St. Augustine...hands down one of the best Spanish restaurants you will ever go to in your life. Guarantee it. 2 things you have to try...Sangria...Filet Mignon "Chacho". http://www.columbiarestaurant.com/
  5. One of my wife's best friends works at Northeast Medical Center in Gainesville as a nurse and she graduated from Brenau University which is also in Gainesville. That hospital is one of the best in GA so I would start there when it comes to a job...North Hall County has the best schools in that area unless you want to live further south and dive into Gwinnett County which I wouldn't recommend because its bursting at the seems with people right now. I actually graduated High School in Gwinnett County, but I wouldnt recommend moving there unless you like traffic lol Sounds like you guys need to start looking at neighborhoods off of HWY 129 "Cleveland HWY" and Browns Bridge Road in Gainesville. That will put you on or around the lake very easily. That whole area is surrounded by water...I think I fished that lake probably 20-25 times last year. I still spend a lot of time in that neck of the woods because of my mother and father in law.
  6. I lived in both Cumming and Gainesville. My father in law still lives off of Cleveland HWY on Lake Lanier by the Georgia Highway Patrol Station. What do you need to know? FYI, the closer you are to Gainesville the more Mexican it becomes...just throwing that out there. They are developing a huge hispanic population. I'll actually be in GA this weekend for a birthday dinner at Papadeaux's in Alpharetta but I'm staying in Gainesville.
  7. Yea I would have a very serious problem with that...be respectful of my stuff and I'll be respectful of yours type of situation. Nothing good ever comes out of a group of dogs running around together in the woods. They start acting more wild the more that they do it no matter how they were raised or what environment they came from...its a natural instinct.
  8. Steak and eggs sounds pretty amazing right about now...
  9. Yea...I'm not sure this is just a cold front haha wind chill was -12 when I woke up.
  10. Not sure how I would have responded to that one...
  11. thanks for the info. I'll look into Reelfoot because they want a guided hunt...doesnt matter to me, but a few of them prefer it.
  12. Looking for some recommendations for a goose hunt in Tennessee or Kentucky. Group of friends and I usually meet up in a state once a year and go on a hunt. Last year we went to Arkansas and had a guide and we weren't really all that thrilled/impressed with the experience. They mentioned possibly coming to my neck of the woods this year but I dont really know of any places to contact. Thanks for the help.
  13. I dont think you are over cautious...I'm sure they aren't breaking in to ask to borrow some milk and cookies. Now that doesnt necessarily mean that somebody who breaks into a house is going to be violent, but they dont break in just to hang out and play monopoly either...
  14. I was referring to the spread in the event that you have to use it in a tight scenario. Here's a scenario to kind of explain what I was referring to...say somebody broke into a house and was holding a gun to somebody's head "a loved one". You wouldnt use a shotgun in that situation because you obviously couldnt put a shot in a specific area without hitting somebody else. With that said, if you are in an empty hall way and the only thing in front of the barrel is a bad guy then a shotgun is a no brainer.
  15. Yea...its not the kind of gun you want to use if people you care about are in the area. Would not end well at all.
  16. :ugh:  no comment...
  17. Maybe I read it wrong...but it came across as "so you want to be a tough guy and shoot somebody"
  18. Did I say I wanted to kill somebody...? Did I imply I wanted to kill somebody...? Did I mention I would shoot you if you break into my house...? What if I meant I wanted to detain them so they could be arrested and I could make sure they spend time in jail or prison...? Dont assume so much...
  19. The state I'm from and the state I live in both made the list...interesting.
  20. I've heard the whole "racking the shotgun" thing quite a few times too...I'm not so sure it would just cause somebody to take off running and in all honesty, if you are already in my house I A.) dont want you getting out and B.) dont want you to know where I am.
  21. My animals get Blue Buffalo brand products and thats it...nothing else.
  22. Aint that the truth.................
  23. "Work Place Violence"
  24. Since you've done The Standard I'd probably stop by Kayne Prime next time. Both of those are pretty high up on my list of places to eat in Nashville.
