  1. Hey guys, does anybody know of any good dove fields that are gonna be open this year. Trying to set up a hunt for my dad, father-in-law, nephew and myself on opening day. The TWRA site isn't listing any public fields yet. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. The building is posted on every entrance or at least it was at my daughters' recital in June.
  3. WOW! This discussion has gotten pretty intense. As others have said I think it all depends on the situation, and perception of the situation to responding officers, the DA, the judge and the jury. I think probably the best option is to use your Miranda rights until your attorney is present. Don't volunteer any information to anyone, and don't speak to anyone until your attorney is present. There are very few clear disproportionate responses. Using a sledghammer to drive a finish nail, a shotgun to kill a fly are a couple of examples. Unfortunately, you may not always have time to properly asess a self defense situation. That is a fact that you should definately exploit if you find yourself in that predicament. You have to react with the best information you have available at the given time.
  4. I bet the folks at Thing's Remebered would love to help you out.J/K. You may try Uselton Arms. He does a lot of custom 1911's, not sure if he does engraving or not, but he could probably point you in the right direction.
  5. HMMMM, could make reholstering kind of tricky. I am almost tempted to buy one. They could be a collectors item in few years when the company goes of out of business. It's bound to end up on the History Channel's failed weapons show, probably right next to the nuclear rifle.
  6. I would give the MTAC a shot (pun intended). I have had 2 CTAC's one for my former XD and one for a full size 1911. Both were great holsters but the MTAC looks more comfortable. The CTAC is not uncomfortable, but given the choice betweent having leather or Kydex against my body, I would go for the leather. Its going to have some flex to it and not "dig in" to your spare tire. Don't know if you have one or not, but I do and it sometimes gets in the way of an IWB.
  7. I wouldn't recommend it. The .223 is a great round for its intended purpose (punching holes in the enemy). It was never designed to be a knock-down round. If you kill a man you take him out of the fight. If you wound a man you take him and however many people it takes to help him out of the fight. This has been a basic military principle for many years, probably why they did away with the 1911. Anyway back to the topic. It is certainly possible to kill a deer with the .223 but it is too fast to really open up the cavity and cause massive hemmoraging. In hunting the bigger is better rule applies to bullet size and weight.
  8. You could try a smartcarry or a fanny pack. A lot of the nurses I work with carry fanny packs, just because the scrubs tend to get weighed down with keys and cell phones, etc. Depending on where you work it may not look out of place.
  9. Dude I am certainly not a gun snob that thinks you have to pay upwards of $500 to get a decent gun. What I will say is is that every gun goes bang when you pull the trigger until it doesn't. A gun is like any other piece of machinery or tool. It can and will at some point break. The problem with Lorcin is that they don't build quality guns. My point being is don't risk your life with poor quality. I don't by the rule that any gun is better than no gun. Sometime you would be better off with a heavy rock. I can appreciate the fact that your wife bought it for you and that you have some attachement to it for that. But thats why I tell my wife not to buy me tools or guns. She doens't know what to buy and what I want. Save up and buy a reliable carry gun. A cheap 5 shot revolver is a better choice than a cheap auto. There is much less that can go wrong with it. Just my opinion, it ain't worth much but i'll stand behind it.
  10. As long as its paper and not other folks at the range, I think headshots are probably ok. I would prefer to be shot in the a$$ by another shooter than in the head. Dawg
  11. I guess the FNG thing gave me away as prior military, huh? The answer is yes, USN 93-97.
  12. I've been a member here for a while but never posted, so I just thought I would say hi and let you know how much I appreciate having a local forum to see what the other gun owners in the area are up to.
