  1. To your original question, several years ago when I was looking for a carry pistol I took a snap cap with me and asked if I could dry fire.   I found the gun I was interested in in the first shop I went into and they had no problem with me putting the snap cap into it and trying the trigger. Once that was done I found a range that had one to rent and went to the next step of firing it.   I don't know if other shops would have done that as I got what I wanted to do in the first one I went into. If they had refused me I would have tried other shops until I found one that wasn't so hard to get along with.
  2. Thanks everyone for the replies. I am glad that there is an organization fighting for our 2nd amendment rights. I missed this month's meeting, but plan to attend in Feb.   I did manage to get to their website and forum. I believe I know why they have no traffic on the forum. I tried to register and could not get past the Captcha.   I have registered at numerous sites that use it and this is the first instance that the Captcha security would not let me past.   I tried to sign up for the email updates and was told that my email address was already registered. Tried to sign on and was told my email address was not recognized.   Tried to use the forgot email deal and was told that my email address was not in the system.   So, can't register for forum and can't sign up for email alerts. Bummer
  3. I sent in money to join, tried to register on their forum page(unsuccessfully). Received a letter with a membership card 2 months later and a recommendation to visit their website; www.tennesseefirearms.com .   I tried to visit that website only to find it is under construction.   Are they a legitimate organization? If so, what's up with the non-response to someone who is interested in pushing for more legislation limiting the infringement of our 2nd amendment rights?
  4. I took Jeff Eady's TN HCP course on 12/21/2014, did the fingerprints on 12/22/2014.   Received the HCP in the mail today 01/12/2015. Total of 13 working days over the holidays.   Did all the paperwork on line.
  5. That pretty much describes most of the gun shows I've been to in the last few months.   I am close by and will probably drop by.
  6. I have not seen any ads for it but I believe there is to be a gun show at Lebanon Fair Grounds Jan 3 &4. Any one know if that is true?   Any reviews on the shows at the Wilson Co Fair Grounds?   Thanks
  7. Thanks Brat and everyone who replied. If I only shot every once in a while an hour drive wouldn't be a problem but I had been going to the range (pistol, rifle or shotgun) several times/week. A 2 hour round trip several times/week just is not something that I want(or can afford) to do.   Unfortunately the type of range that has pistol, rifle and shotgun in a setting that is close where I have a gate key and I can go any day of the week just may not be available to me.   GGC seems to be the best fit but is closed to new members.   Stones River is close but no shotgun and only open on weekends.   Cedar City is close but only shotgun.   I don't know if Brush Creek is available except for matches. Can one go there to shoot any time?   Again, thanks for all the suggestions.   Ron
  8.     I've been using Shell Rotella T 15W40 for lubrication for several years in my motorcycle and firearms. Have had no problems with either in all that time.
  9. Thanks for the replies, welcome and suggestions.
  10. Thanks for the reply and welcome.   I contacted Gallatin and the waiting list is 3 years long.   Stones River is only open weekends. I am retired and can shoot during the week when things are less crowded.   Really looking for something like Gallatin. Just hoping there was another like it.   Ron
  11. Just moved to Lebanon a month ago. Moved here from St Louis.   I was a member of the Arnold Rifle and Pistol Club, a private club that had combat pits for pistol, rifle ranges and shotgun ranges. A nice club with good facilities.   I am looking for something similar near Lebanon where I can shoot rifles, pistols and shotguns. Somewhere I can go during the week, not just on weekends.   Does something like that exist?   Thanks   Ron
