  1. Didn't see the thread in General Chat, did a search and it didn't come up.
  2. I certainly would welcome them. Come on down....     http://www.tennessean.com/article/20130820/BUSINESS01/308200019/Remington-Arms-scouts-Middle-TN-after-N-Y-bans-its-rifle
  3.   I remember those cars, I don't think they were very stable either as far as going where you pointed them. I may have to see what the Rockem Sockem Robot movie is about.
  4.   Well i'm not going to listen to the usual suspects, I don't see Christie as any different or less dangerous than whoever the dems nominate. Like I said before, I believe he could be more dangerous and damaging in many ways. Third party or write in vote for me if Christie gets the nomination.
  5. I can remember seeing part of a speech on a B&W TV by Lyndon B. Johnson. My favorite toys besides army men was Rockem Sockem Robots.
  6. I had to really sell my principals and hold my nose when I pushed the button for Romney last election but I absolutly, no way in hell will I vote for Christie if he gets the nomination. I'll pick some 3rd party or write someone in and i'm not going to listen to that argument about, if you don't vote for a pub then you are voting for the dem BS. I'm not selling my principals any more. I'm sure the liberal media and liberal politicians hope that Christie gets the nomination because they know he could loose several states to a 3rd party candidate. In many ways he would be more dangerous and damaging to the country if he won as a pub rather than a known liberal dem, there's too many bootlicking pub congressmen and senators that would vote for his legislation. I would dare to say that there's a better chance of restrictive New Jersey style gun control legislation being passed by the house and senate if he were pushing and threatening the GOP congress than some liberal POTUS that they are expected to oppose. And we all know that would happen the first time some lunitic shoot up a crowded place, just the excuse he would need. He's no different than Billary and more dangerous in many ways.
  7.   There's alot of weird celebrity kid names, I just looked some up. Pilot, Sage Moonblood, Memphis Eve, etc. It's their right and choice to name their kid what they want to, at least it's supposed to be here in America. Just what is this authoritarian judge going to do about the thousands of Mexican's named Jesus? This judge ruled against personal liberties and pretty much crapped on the constitution which is becoming more and more common these days from authoritarian minded judges and politicians. Judges like her should be suspended from the bench immediatly after a civil rights violation like this, then after a hearing, disbarred permantly.
  8.   That's just your standard M1A isn't it, or do they have a longer barrell?
  9.   When Saving Private Ryan was in the theaters I saw it 4 times, I took my dad to see it once, he was in the 101st in ww2. He didn't jump in on d-day but entered France later, was wounded in Bastogn New Years day in 45. He said "parts of the movie" were the most realistic scenes he had ever seen in a movie and many scenes were a little un-realistic.The scene where Hanks was standing in the door of the church at night looking out at the massive artillary barrage was the most realistic scene in the movie. He was wounded in the back by artillary scraptnal but it didn't get to any organs so he re-joined his company a few weeks later and pushed through Germany, the movie didn't upset him any. As far as an athority on the subject he was well qualified.
  10. I strongly believe in private property rights. If a property/business owner doesn't want hoodies worn in their business or anywhere on their property they have the right to tell the person to immediatly leave their property, if they don't comply THEN they can have the person charged with tresspassing but they should tell the person verbally to leave first unless they have their property/land clearly marked "No Tresspassing" period. Same as guns, if they don't want guns on their property they can tell you to leave for any reason they want to, they just can't have you arrested first, only if you refuse to leave.
  11. I hate commies and communism but I have to respect some of those average Ruskies in WW2 who battled tooth and nail with the nazi's in their own back front and side yard, that's why I liked Enemy At The Gates. I would like to see a good director make a movie about lyudmila Pavlichenko, the Russian female sniper who killed over 300 nazis including snipers.
  12. That's one i've wanted for a long time, if I didn't care about water and electricty right now I would definatly buy one and probably pay more for all the ammo I would want to shoot. It's a good all around weapon, defense, offense, and kill your food with it.
  13.   That had the coolest airborn drop scenes i've seen in a movie, all real footage.   Anybody mention "Enemy At The Gates" yet?
  14. Yep, that was a good movie.
  15.   I just read up a little on the M1917 Enfield, pretty much a .30-06 copy of the British Enfield issued to many of the troops then.
  16.   I don't believe Speilberg would ruin it though like some remakes did to the original, he would be the only director to do it.
  17. Stalingrad, a german movie is a good one if you can find it.   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J6thQKSNBSo
  18. I wish Speilberg would remake Sergent York, the first movie was good for an old movie with hoaky battle scenes but Speilberg would make an awsome movie about him, and make sure York has a 1911 instead of a Luger.
  19. Got stung on the arm once by a saddleback catipiller in a patch of corn, that was a painful sting, burning like scaulding water being poured over your arm.
  20.   If you were stung several times by them then be careful the next time you get stung and watch for an allergic reaction. Many years ago my dad was stung about 8 times after mowing over a nest, he didn'r experience any reaction other than a small bumb where he got stung. He thought he killed the nest but the same thing happened the next year, got hit about 12 times. He came inside and got sick at his stomach and then passed out, we called the ambulance and took him to the ER where they gave him Benadryl and ephinephrin, he was dizzy the rest of the day and nauseated. He had to keep an ephinephrin shot handy after that in the fridge in case he got stung again. Seems that the doctor told him that getting stung the first time made him allergic to the second time.
  21.   They don't always have to attack, just chatter like they are planning something and get us to panic. Do that enough times and eventually we let our guard down.
  22.   Yea, I was kinda sorry I bought them shortly after I did, I guess I made a rash decision seeing the price. I would hate to bust my Marlin and I would really hate to have little pieces of reciever extracted from my arm. I don't reload as you can tell, maybe i'll give them to someone who does.
  23. Question: Should I or shouldn't I? Have bought 3-20 round boxes of 30-30 for $20 for all three? I did buy them BUT, they are reloads, old reloads that some were a little green. Nothing that a little steel wool didn't fix. Anyway, I don't know who reloaded them and I questioned my decision to buy them later on, I just wanted something to shoot at the range. Would you shoot them? This was a yard sale a month ago.
  24. I went to a yard sale last week, I didn't buy anything but this guy had 4 new AR-15 mags for $20ea, 2 boxes of 50 count Hornaday .454 for $25ea, that's what I used to pay when I had a Raging Bull some years ago, he also had a rough looking Auto-Ordinence Thompson with 2 mags for $250.00, loose stock and the finnish was horrible. It would be cool to have a Thompson but it would just be a novility plus I would want one in better condition than that one was.
  25.   Well it doesn't say how many misses or how many shots he got in the vitals, I still wouldn't want to rely on 13 shots to take a charging bear down. There's an interesting article in the July G&A from Craig Boddington about cartridges he advises for North American game, he says a .30 caliber is the absolute minimum he would use for brown and grizzly bear. He advises a .250 grain bullet in a .338 but that's hunting ranges out to 200+ yards. He had another article in the August issue where he hunted in the Philippines and had to use the rifles that the hunting camp had, the most practical rifle they offered was an old M-14, he and his hunting partners killed several water buffalo and hogs with it. He said they double tapped the buffalo but they pretty much went down where they stood but that was in jungle just a few yards away.
