1. No problem getting long range accurate hits with a compact, even a snubby. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HIwVK_FxGZk
2. I only have 3 handguns that I carry, a 9x18 Makarov, a Glock 21, and a 5 shot SP101 in .357 mag. I carry the SP101 more often than any other loaded with 140gr. .357's and I don't feel underarmed with it. I know very well there is a controllability issue with a .357 snubby, i've tried fast followup shots at the range at 25 yards which is a long distance for a handgun and i'm not that good at keeping all rounds on target but i'm betting that most self defense situations are closer, alot closer. The G21 has 13 rounds of 230gr. .45's but it's a big bulky handgun and I guess i've been brainwashed about .45 and .357 but I still feel the Makarov is underpowered, I know there is the shot placement thingy. You can't be 100% sure what kind of situation you may get in but I feel the odds are it will be close and fast and a good chance that physical contact will be made. I feel that while it may not be the perfect handgun, it's a damn good handgun to have on your side if you are using one hand to hold back badguy perp and have to draw and fire while scared and stressed. No light trigger pull on a snubby so you wont shoot your leg while drawing, no grip safety if you don't get that perfect grip, aiming is no issue and you have the extra punch from a 2"barrel in .357. If i'm fighting someone I want something to pull and shoot. Even if i'm not in direct physical contact like in my house, i'm not going to be futher that 15 feet and I can keep my rounds in a torso size target at that distance. I do carry my G21 from time to time in the winter, if it was as compact as my SP101 I would carry it all the time.
3.   Fired or expelled maybe but not arrested. The law has to apply for everybody reguardless who they work for or go to school at.
4. From what i've seen on TV shows those S. American crocks are alot more agressive than N. American gators. What's next? Hippo's? No problem though, just carry Mr. .44mag with you and stay aware.
5. Add Tennessee to that list. College students may be forbidden to even have a gun in their car but I don't see how the school will ever know unless the student brags about it. At least they can't be arrested if they have a HCP.
6.   I was talking about the first bill last year also, when some said it was totally worthless. I don't visit too many city parks, if I want to go to a park, Montgomery Bell State Park is just down the street if I want to get out of my car and walk around. City parks I can just drive through with my handgun in my vehicle, or a college campus, or a hospital parking lot and not be arrested for it. Now in May I can be in a vehicle I borrowed. As I said in the Park Bill thread, I wonder how many bed wetters know we can already have a gun in their precious park already.
7.   The bill could be improved but i'll count that as something, it's not a totally worthless bill. It's a shame to even have to have a bill to keep law abiding citizens from being arrested for having something in their vehicle that they are not going to commit a crime with anyway.
8. It's a crap bill for an employee who still gets fired for storing his/her gun in their vehicle but at least they can't be arrested for it. I think it's a better than nothing bill, meaning some places I go and park, at least i'm not violating a law that I can be arrested for if I store my handgun in my vehicle unless it's federal property.
9.   Addresses wouldn't be hard to find and there's still plenty of names on there. I thought since it was already online from a liberal news rag, some politician should use it against dems(Steve Cohen etc.), and send letters to every permit holder to get out and vote against politicians who believe you are not smart and responsible enough to carry a handgun. I know I would enjoy a good laugh if the CA's database caused one of their favorite politicians to loose an election.
10. Mine is due Oct. 28-14, I hope to be getting my renewal letter soon so I can get that over with.
11.   Don't have to use the database, just go to the Commercial Appeal site, it lists name and city and expiration date of your permit.

Feinstein

Interesting, Feinstein defends/excuses the governments practice of violating Americans constitutional rights, and defends those who carry out those violations of constitutional rights, UNTIL IT HAPPENS TO HER, then it suddenly becomes wrong. Sounds kinda familiar.
14. I guess the lesson here is that if you have a warrant don't try to buy a gun at a gun store. Unless the person was totally unaware that they had a warrant on them which is possible but not likely, it's a pretty stupid thing to do but as we all know many criminals are not the sharpest knives in the drawer.
15.   Or just not sign it which we all know that after I think 10 days it will become law and make Haslam "appear" was was against it to appease the anti's and try not to p!ss off the pro's too much by not vetoing it. Like a good politician Haslam plays both sides, if he seems too anti-gun he would loose alot of votes, even though in reality he is anti-gun. I know I have brought this up time and time again but I will keep bringing it up because some people forget. Haslam as mayor of Knoxville was a card carrying member of Bloombergs Mayors Agagint Guns, that illegal part is in there just to fool naive soccer moms. In his heart, Haslam is an anti. If he was mayor of some New England city he would sign every anti-gun bill that came accross his desk.
16.   Ahh I remember those, those are the 9mm's that can punch holes through a 1" thick hardened steel bull dozier blade. My guess is that the OP's co-worker watches a little too much TV. Everybody i've talked to about guns that knows little about them, I always tell them to forget everything they have seen on TV and movies, and the news.
17.   Have the girl scouts sell .22LR ammo, problem solved. They would make a whole lot more money than selling cookies.
18. Damn straight a 40 can shoot through an engine block. Oh, I thought he ment 40mm.
19.   Just thinking about some recent history, weak leadership vs strong leadership. Carter was POTUS in 1979 when Russia invaded Afganistan, Carter was POTUS when Iranian islamic radicals took over and took our embassy staff hostage only to be strangly released when Reagan was inagurated. Reagan was tough against the soviets, never backed down against their leaders and eventually the soviet government collapsed and WARSAW pact countries gained their independence, Germany was re-united. All without directly going to war with Russia. Now we have a weaker leader than Carter and it's obvious that Russia is on a mission to bring back the old soviet empire. Probably wont have anymore Americans in space for awhile since we don't have any way to get them there and bring them back without begging for a ride from the Russians.
20.   Where's Ronnie when we need him? Of course we can't and shouldn't do anything as far as military action goes BUT, we can strenghten our military instead of weakening it like Bobo is doing. Start talking plans to place missle defense systems in Poland and Eastern Europe, hurry and approve the keystone pipeline, drill in ANWAR and flood the market with cheaper oil, work on the development of stealth ICBM's, send and let everybody know we have nuclear ballistic missle subs in the sea of Japan and Indian Ocean close to N.K. and Iran. Let Iran and the world know that if Iran ever nukes Isreal the first targets of nuclear response is any and all Iranian oil fields including nuclear power plants and all main cities, make a 50 to 1 resolution, 50 nukes for every 1. Russia puts a base in Cuba, put a halt to the destruction of nuclear warheads and modernize the delivery systems(stealth). Of course nothing like that will happen as long as Bobo's in charge.
21.   You're right, it might be fun to have some wild west shootouts. I always like the ones where two stand about 25 yards facing each other and draw. I wonder how that would work with 1911's instead of SAA's.
22. Sam and Jeff were treading water off the coast of Austrailia after capsizing their boat, 10 to 15 great white shark fins were circling them. Sam: Well Jeff, i'm about to prove my daddy wrong. Jeff: How's that Sam? Sam: He said I would never amount to sh!t. :)

23. I've never really struggled peeling a banana from the stem and i'm not eating an apple core and seeds. I have heard and tried peeling a banana that way, it doesn't always work that good. Maybe monkeys have been doing it wrong for a million years and it took us humans to do it right. :)
24.   And sometimes the sheep need help being pushed through the fence.
25.   It's like an old broken record. Shall issue passes, (Oh my god, wild west shootouts in the streets), didn't happen. Carry in stores that sell beer passes, (Oh my god, wild west shootouts in stores), didn't happen. Carry in state parks passes, (Oh my god, wild west shootouts in parks), didn't happen. Carry in restaurants passes, (Oh my god, wild west shootouts in restaurants), didn't happen. Guns in cars in parking lots passes, (Oh my god, wild west shootouts in cars in parking lots), didn't happen. Carry in city parks ?? (Oh my god, wild west shootouts in city parks), not going to happen. But you can't tell them that, they will play that irrational emotional broken record every time a new pro-gun bill is passed.
