Thinking about a 22 magnum rifle.....tell me about yours
K191145 replied to gregintenn's topic in Long Guns
How about a Ruger 10/22mag? -
Hand them a fanny pack and tell them most anything will fit in that. Customer calls and says, my air isn't working, what's wrong with it? Well, either 1 of 500 different reasons, don't know unless I check it out. Whats the service call cost? $65. Wow, whats it going to cost to fix it? Don't know until I find out what the problem is. I can't afford that right now, what am I supposed to do in the meantime? Tape a paint stirring stick to a piece of cardboard and wave it back and forth in front of your face. Never told anyone to do that but I was tempted sometimes. People wants you to diagnose it over the phone and tell them how to fix it, just can't happen 99.99% of the time but I did have to tell a lady to turn their T-stat to "COOL" once and that worked.

I've put a couple aftermarket mags on SKS's in the past, some you have to tweak(bend) the feed lips up a little so the bullet tip of the cartridge is angled up a little more to feed in the chamber. If not the tip of the bullet will contact just below the chamber and will not feed. That seems to be most of their problems, i've made a couple reliable by bending the feed lips (SLIGHTLY) up at the front of the mag. That's why I said TWEAK, don't over do it, the feed lips also have to have no friction in the bolt grooves.

If you know about where he lives and have saved the threats you should report it to the local police where he lives. Chances are, he's just another internet tough guy. We have all seen plenty of so-called bad a$$es, kung fu masters and Bill Hickoks on the internet when in reality those people would have a negligent bowel discharge if they were faced with a real life confrontation. Anyway, I would take a death threat seriously and the guy should have some legal consequences for making them.

I know i'm sounding skeptical about it, i'm just thinking about the ruling against Chicago a while back. I doubt it's easy to obtain a firearm there still. Well unless you're a gangbanger and just buy one from your drug dealer with no background check, then it's pretty easy.
-
Well I bet some people are going to test the judgment, we will have to see how the DC police and local government respond. I still think the ruling is great, if the DC government and police don't acknowledge the ruling they can tie up the DC courts with case after case.

Just like in states such as New Jersey, the registration and hoops, and fees and waiting periods etc. are designed to strongly discourage gun ownership. I pretty much see that as a city ban on gun ownership in a way.
-
Not to be a Danny Downer, the decision is great, it's on the books. However I see the DC government not complying with the decision and getting away with it by simply re-wording their laws. I just don't see anyone besides police and government officials owning a gun in DC.

More of them feel that way in New England and heavy liberal areas like California. Maybe many regular street cops feel a little different, i've always said just from observing years of news and interviews with big city police chiefs, most are puppets or toadies of the mayor and the administration of that city and will tow the official line the city administration tells them to. I'm reminded of Ronal Surpass, seemed like he had a string on his back so Bredesen and Dean could move his mouth and say what the mayor wanted him to. I doubt that most metro LEO's had the same opinion as the police chief about certain issues.

Massachusetts, That says alot right there. New England has had strict gun control laws for generations, even though they are in the US they still have a different mindset and culture than the south or west. It's drilled into their brains at an early age that average citizens don't have the right to keep and bear arms, it's considered more of a privige to most there that needs to be heavely regulated. The police, more so than Joe Smo from Massachusetts believe in strict regulations of firearms. Sad because Massachusetts is pretty much the HQ of where we decided to challenge and fight the British because of their strict regulations and taxes. Now Massachusetts isn't much different than the British were then, ristricting rights and taxing the crap out of everyone. Just ask the head Massachusetts democrat for the little people, multi-millionair John Kerry who has to park his million dollar yacht in Virgina because Massachusetts taxes are too high for him to park it there.

HMM, I know the link the OP posted is a FoxNews link but out of curiosity I searched Bing for more stories about this. There were several, some links to ABC, CBS, NBC but were all local city channels, not the national news sites. No CNN link at all and no MSNBC link either. I'm sure if the doctor hadn't been armed and stopped the psycho before he killed him and more people those news outlets would still be reporting on it, seems like they don't want anyone to hear about an armed citizen saving lives with their gun. Whatever you think about FOX at least they report on stories you wont hear from the rabid liberal media.

has anyone saw the prices on nagant revolvers..........

Thinking about it it might work better than a revolver with a swing out cylinder and hand ejector. Those have to be modified to eject. -

Good that you got yours when they were cheap, well free to you I guess :) Anyway I was wondering how the .32 acp rimless cartridge works in the cylinder, especially since the Nagant has to be loaded and unloaded like a single action pistol through the loading gate. -

I did read that a .32s brass will buldge if shot from the original cylinder but the gun will handle it. If you really like shooting it I guess $75 is worth the investment, it does give you an alternative if the original ammo gets too expensive or hard to find. -

Here's a replacement cylinder chambered in .32 acp but, $75, really? https://www.buymilsurp.com/cylinder-32-acp-replacement-m1895-nagant-revolver-p-476.html Just doing a search I found some posts on some other guh forums where some said they fired .32H&Rmag out of the original cylinder. I personally don't think I would try that. -

There is a cylinder you can get for them that is chambered in, I believe .32 long.
