Assault Rifle that you can kil 15 people with one shot.... Actually, I and several others on YouTube tried to convince this idiot that AR stood for Armalite Rifle, not Assualt Rifle. He never believed it, well, just refused to believe it.

And not all Beretta's are made in Italy. :)

Sorry to hear that JAB, hope you get better soon.

The reality of it is, he and the other liberal (socialist) progressives actually want these companies to leave their state, I really believe that with their mindset. That's okay with me if we here in gun friendly states reap the benifits of new companies and jobs. I feel sorry for those employees laid off and eventually terminated if they don't re-locate, i'm all for them applying for un-employment benifits in those states and running their stats up but I do hope they can find employment someday with the same pay and benifits, somehow I think those employees didn't vote for Cuomo, at least I hope not. If any did vote for him well, that's the consequences of their vote and I can't feel too sorry for them, they should have known.

I don't believe they will consume Tennessee like those other states, look at the last election in the state, conservatives slaughtered liberals even more so than the election before that, Tennessee is pretty solid.

Nothing federal which I believe he was talking about. I personally don't care what NY and MA does, nothing they do suprises me anymore.

Probably some more restrictive laws in the New England states and California but not here. Even Canada with a fraction of our population and number of firearms in circulation couldn't make a national registration work. No doubt the liberals will try with some ruse legislation like federal background checks on all gun purchases which in reality is a hidden registration, they have already proposed that and it failed with a dem majority in the Senate. They and the public can't see that background checks on all sales can not account for the 300+ million firearms in private hands now, I said in another thread it's impossible to trace a sale or know when it took place on a firearm bought before any background check law that they may propose. I remember well when the 94 assualt weapons ban took effect, I had no problem buying a MAK90(AK-47) without a bayonet lug and had no problem finding plenty of Chinese and East German 30-rnd AK mags. Actually that legislation was the main motivating factor why I sought out to buy an AK, also back then I bought about 2000 rnds of 7.62x39 for $160. In other words the law was mostly a joke. I really think that law is a big part of the reason why AK's and AR's are so popular now, I bet the numbers of AR's and AK's have more than doubled or tripled since that law was passed, especially AR's.

I'm not too concerned about a few ultra-liberal states and what they do, I hate it for those who are true 2nd Amendment believers who live in those states, and most likely voted for candidates who can't possibly win but they are a minority living with a state full of Un-American socialists so about the only real thing to do is move out. Still, think about the last 20+ years, we have gone from special requirment permits, even in Tennessee to shall issue in most states. No more waiting periods in Tennessee and many other states to instant check, in Tennessee we have gone from many areas we couldn't carry to almost any place as far as parks and restaurants etc. I know it's not a complete restoration of our 2nd Amendment rights but it has moved in the right direction in most states and I don't see it going backwards on a state level, it would have to be on a federal level and I don't see that anytime soon. If the dems couldn't get any legislation passed right after Sandy Hook they have far less of a chance of passing anything now. Now the few states passing more restrictive laws, there's not much I can do about that except be damn glad I live in Tennessee.

Death knell for 22 ammo speculators?
K191145 replied to Currently's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
I haven't really been shopping for .22, I only checked out Walmart and The Sportsman Store in Dickson for some the other week and they were out, also i'm not going to pay some ridiculas price for any. I may have close to 400 rounds now, it would be nice to shoot the heck out of my 10/22 but I'm sitting on what i've got for a while. That's as far as i'll go in the .22 panic era, just not shoot up all I have. I'm at least hoping that .22 supply and price will normalize soon, i'm sure the price will never be at amounts 2 years ago but I hope they can be at least reasonable, cheaper than any other ammo by far. -

From Ferguson to the U.N. ... "appeal for global intervention"
K191145 replied to Peace's topic in General Chat
I've got a feeling that the U.N. doesn't really want to get involved in Ferguson. http://www.cnn.com/2014/11/10/us/ferguson-michael-brown-shooting/index.html -
Great, close to home for me. Hope it happens.

I still have no idea how it all works to get a referendum on the ballot, I guess if some real motivated activist made a petition and collected enough signatures, that would be a first step. The thing is about gun issues in Tennessee, there's motivation from gun owners to speak up, write their Reps and stay with it till some pro-gun legislation is proposed, on the other hand there seems to be no motivation from the anti's to fight. Like this Rayburn guy who tried his best to keep it illegal to carry in restraunts, got alot of media attention but ultimatly failed because I think the average person in Tennessee weather they are gun owners or not, are not very concerned about gun issues and laws in Tennessee. Notice when a pro-carry bill is passed and signed there are a few who get media attention who scream about blood in the streets, wild west shootouts, weeping wailing and gnashing of teeth etc. That lasts for one or two weeks then it just goes away and is forgotten by most all people in the state. I would bet that no one could get enough people in Tennessee motivated to start a fight and a referendum for background checks for private sales.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Initiatives_and_referendums_in_the_United_States Tennessee falls into this catagory, whatever that means.
-
No, I guess any rep could propose some bill of that nature, I just don't see that even getting out of committie. Maybe we don't always get all the pro-gun legislation we want but I think the legislature in Tennessee is smart enough not to bring any anti-gun legislation to the floor. I would guess a referendum would have to go through the legislature first. I was still thinking about legislation and proposed bills by legislators. I think a petition with a required number of signatures would be the first step in a referendum.
-
It wouldn't even come up in the legislature here. Also even in states that may pass such a law, they can only trace transactions ater the law was enacted, if you bought a gun before that date and sold it to a friend they can't know when you sold the gun. Unless someone is stupid and bragged about selling a gun after that date there's no proof. I'm not surprised that Washington passed such a law, it's a liberal state anyway but lawmakers here surely don't want to anger gun owners, they are a big part of their votes.

I had a 7rnd. mag extention installed but it is a cheapo, shells would get hung in the tube. I made sure the "dimples" in the 870 Express tube were ground down, no issues there.

Rob Maness got 14% of the votes and ran as a Tea party Republican, I would bet there's enough votes to unseat Landrieu, Cassidy wont need that many plus Landrieu wont gain hardly any more votes. If conservatives feel the same way about her as I do, and i'm not from Louisana, then she will finally be sent packing in December. That comment about the south, and we all know she means "white southern males" really shows what a bigoted sanctimonious person she really is, and un-appreciative to her voters. Does she really think she got elected with only black and female votes the first time?
-
So let me get this straight, Mary Landrieu said the south was not very friendly to women and non-whites? I thought Landrieu was a woman, why did she get elected in the first place? Governor Bobby JINDAL? Looks like his ancestors may have been Asian Indian, why did he get elected in the south? I predict voters will not be very friendly to Landrieu this December, I think the big spoiler was a Tea Party candidate causing the runoff, without him many of his voters will vote against Landrieu, others just wont vote at all.
-
Welcome back North Carolina. Hopefully Virgina too, they should give D.C. Fairfax County, it's an all D.C. vote anyway, that one lone county seems to screw everybody in the whole state. We have to wait till December for Louisana to kick out southener hater Landrieu.

If I had the $$$$ and decided to buy a new firearm, first I would like to rent/shoot a few at an indoor range/gun store. I'm mostly thinking Ruger. First would probably be a carry gun, I would like to shoot an SR-9 and SR-45, only read about them but reviews have been all positive. Also been wanting a GP-100 for a long time but now I would probably go with a high capacity semi-auto. For an all around rifle I would like an AR but in .308/7.62x51 like the Ruger SR7.62 (piston), and I have always desired an M1A. Of course if I spent the $$$$ on one of those I would have to have a great scope. I have a trusty ol 870 with an 18" barrell for home defense but I would like a good tactical semi-auto 12guage with an extended tube to 8 round capacity, probably a no-brainer would be a Benelli. If I ever bought another 1911 I like the Remington R1, just a plain jane 1911 with classic looks and I have read positive reviews about them, reliable and decently accurate.

I may go back to Dickson Monday and buy a few more boxes of that Federal 30-30 150grain SP for $14 per box. Might start "plinking" with 30-30. I know it's $14 for 20rounds but I don't think it's gone up like most ammo has. What's the price now of those 12guage skeet loads you used to buy for under $5 per box not that long ago? Might find fun things to shoot with them.

I don't know how well that will stop the horders, if I were a horder I would just have a friend or two in line behind me buying their share for me.
