Sadly enough there's people who will not research and pay those prices. I had a friend show me and brag about this cool old Russian rifle, (Mosin 91/30) that he only paid $200 for off some dude at work. He really thought he got a good deal. I told him later what he could have really bought one for but I didn't have the heart to burst his bubble right then.

I know there's alot of legislation and bills we would like to see introduced and brought to the floor and we complain about it here when they don't, but how many of us will take some time and write a good thought out e-mail to our reps and senators explaining our concerns? Then I have heard, well there's no use in writing my rep or senator since they are liberal or never vote my way. Well, write to another rep or senator even if they are not in your district and send a carbon copy(cc) to your rep, if it's state legislation it affects you, so in a way all the reps and senators are representing what you want. I admit I haven't written in a while but these posts reminded me that I should, i've written a couple to Mary Littleton but I haven't written yet to my new Senator Kerry Roberts which I will do soon. If you feel your rep isn't motivated to propose or sponser pro-2nd Amendment bills write them anyway. Instead of complaining all the time on TGO about what is and is not on the floor of the legislature, write and complain to those who can make it happen. I'm not saying don't complain here but we need to express our opinions and wishes to them also. If we never write to our reps then we can share a little in the blame as to why we don't have the laws that we really want. -

Good article, well said. -
Glad you're back home and on your way to recovery. As smart as doctors are supposed to be they are ignorant not to realize that they can cause more stress and anxiety than your illness can. They need to prescribe a medicine specifically for doctor and hospital induced anxiety.

No reason not to write and ask for support of any other legislation we want, the legislature will support or reject any other legislation brought up before them like they have always done, the tax free weekend legislation wont change future legislation one way or the other. -

I still remember well, and it wasn't that long ago just to buy a handgun in Tennessee took about two weeks for a background check and waiting period, there was no carry for citizens period, you had to have your firearm visable and the ammo far away from it transporting it in a vehicle and a long list of places and areas that you couldn't have a firearm whatsoever. We have come quite a ways from that bit by bit. I'm still hoping that in the future we will have Constitutional carry, restrictions in local parks lifted along with a few other things. In the meantime I will support whatever legislation that supports our 2nd. Amendment rights no matter how minor it is. In a perfect setting instead of creating legislation to support the 2nd. Amendment, the legislature would just remove all the laws that infringed upon the 2nd. Amendment. That sure would simplify things but lawyers and politicians are just like engineers, take something simple and complicate the hell out of it. -

I don't think it will get in the way of more important 2nd Amendment legislation and I do think the message of it is important. Each law that supports the 2nd Amendment, even if it's a token gesture is another step in the right direction, it will get media attention every year and I believe that it will increase sales a little on firearms and ammo that weekend. The message of it shows the State of Tennessee supports the 2nd Amendment to the rest of the country. It's a shame that we even have to pass laws to support a right we naturally have, acknowledged by the Bill Of Rights but that's the reality when there's soo many Un-American politicians and groups fighting to take that right away. So the message of it is important, along with a minor savings and increased sales. -

The only thing is, we would be asking state politicians to give up a few dollars for a weekend. -

What the hey, i'll go for it,I wouldn't mind saving some money, I would make a plan to buy something that weekend, probably ammo but I wouldn't limit myself to that. Also, anything that would boost business in the state for even one weekend is a pluse. And it would add to the message that Tennessee is a 2nd. Amendment friendly state, much more than some others. Also for the entertainment value of seeing some rabid anti-gun cultist have a ballistic hissy fit. :) -

There also should be a well made, great director movie about the Koren War, (the forgotten war). Not enough movies about that. -
Shopper tackles man with gun at Wal-Mart
K191145 replied to Ugly's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Unless they are in uniform and i'm sure they are a LEO, I will do whatever I have to do to retain my weapon. An assualt along with trying to take my weapon is a threat to my life. They have to show that they are a city, county, or state LEO and not just claim they are. Many criminals have claimed they were a cop to get their victim to comply before they rob, assualt, or murder them. I wish the assualt victim would have laid there and claimed injury, not to sue Walmart, but to make sure the criminal attacker was charged with a felony assualt instead of a misdomenor assualt, and also have extra ammo for a future civil case against the attacker. -

K191145 replied to Ugly's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
I can understand security securing the gun, all they knew was there was some scuffle and a gun was involved. I hope when they knew the man had a permit and was the one attacked they would return his gun. I know some have implied that Wal Mart doesn't owe the man an apology but I still believe, and if it were my store just for courtousy to the man I would tell him I was sorry he had a tramatic experience by being assualted in my store and show him he's a valuable customer, and also let it be clear that I don't condone in any way any vigilante comitting physical assaults in my store. I would sure try my best to bring any charges I could against the attacker for endangering my customers and employees. He definatly would be banned for life from my store, if found on my stores property he would be charged with tresspassing. -

The 1st movie was okay for an old movie but I would like to see a re-make of Seargent York, provided it's from a great director. -
Ashamed to say I never kept up too much with who is who when it came to the NRA elections. It's not all that easy to find out information on every person running, it's not like they are in the media that much, couldn't trust what the media says anyways.
