Just another idea if you have the time to research but you could ask friends and neighbors if they know some "good" carpenters who might like to find a job project like that for a reasonable cost, materials and labor. That's worked for me in the past a time or two and if you can help with the building and labor that may cut some of the cost. Research though, you can also hire some Jackleg that will rip you off.

Rifle inscription used against officer in court
K191145 replied to Chucktshoes's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
As far as that goes some slick lawyer can convince some naive jury that because you had a mag extension on your shotgun you intend to mutilate someone instead of defending yourself, or you have a desire to kill if you load your handgun with +P hollow points, they can use my avatar and signature here against me. I can give a thousand examples. We all know that putting decorations on our guns is really harmless and doesn't mean anything, back many years ago when I had a Colt Python I bought several after market grips, one set of customized wooden grips had a picture of a python on them, actually it was kind of silly because the python had it's mouth open showing long viper fangs which pythons don't have, but, they did look cool to me at the time and they didn't make me have any homicidal feelings. What I am worried about is people "giving in" to that liberal mentality of someones evil because they had some decoration on their gun. If the cop didn't have that dust cover then the lawyer would have come up with something else. -

People dress up their guns, put flames on their old muscle cars ect. doesn't really mean anything. It doesn't mean they are a killer or a speed demon, there's no such thing as ESP so it's impossible to know what he was "thinking" at the time of the shooting. That's like saying some young black male wearing a hoodie and listening to rap is automatically a gang banger. -

If the evidence is there is "should be" black and white, I know what should be and what is is often two different things but still, if it was proven that some big dude was charging someone with a machete 20 feet away screaming i'm going to kill you and the dude he's charging shoots him in the chest with his 3-gun competition 14 round 12 gauge that has "I love killing people" written on the receiver, all that really matters is that the raging dude with the machete was endangering the life of the dude with the shotgun. Shotgun dude is innocent. Yea I know some prosecutor will BS a bunch of hoplaphobic bed wetters to think shotgun dude was at fault, i'm sure it happens a lot but they don't always BS everybody. Now this case I have heard that the guy that was killed was unarmed but I still would like to hear all the evidence before I opined if i was on that jury but what he had written on his AR is of no importance, at least to me. -

The only relevant fact about a shooting is if the shooting was justified or not, lawyers are BS artists and juries are gullible. It shouldn't matter what is written on the gun, what ammo was used or what modifications were made to the gun. What really matters is if the shooter felt his life was in danger and reasonable cause to believe his life was in danger. I have "heard" that the shooting wasn't justified but again I haven't read any story to make a qualified opinion, i'm not sitting on the jury hearing the case. If I was on the jury and the DA was obsessing about what was written on the gun I believe I would have to give him/her a hint like a big woopdeedo yawn, don't care, just give me the facts about the shooting. -
Here's two famous lawmen. Well the first one was a real U.S. deputy marshal, he doesn't get the credit he deserves, he even arrested his own son. Bass Reeves, arrested around 3000, killed up to 14 in self defense. Another thing, your property that's sitting in some evidence room will rust and rot before you get it back, my brother is finding out the hard way that Metro Nashville doesn't give a crap weather he gets his property back or not and they have it. This experience has made me far more likely to step in if i can, that's why I broke speed laws a few weeks ago going to his house when his alarm went off armed with my handgun which I always am and my 870 in the front seat. I was going to do a slow drive by at first, he has an old rundown house a couple of hundred yards down the street I was going to turn around in or maybe get out there. Anyway it was a false alarm and the deputy was already there AND, we found the kitchen door unlocked and I was right behind him when he cleared the house. Funny that he didn't lecture me about getting involved and also the alarm company calls me to make a decision to check it out or not. edit: My brothers house was broken into almost a year ago, two thugs shot and stabbed a guy the day before so my brothers guns were not involved in that. Metro caught them with his property in Nashville somewhere. It's been almost a year now and my brother doesn't even have a clue when he can get his guns back and no one will help him or act like they care. Also, that's exactly what you can be dealing with, these POS thugs tried to murder some guy the day before so treat all as if they are slime ball killers.

No way you could determine that her life was not in danger, the story said there was a confrontation, too few details to make a judgment, that's why the professionals are still investigating and have not made an official decision weather it was a good shoot or not. Also, a few weeks ago my brothers alarm service called me to inform me his alarm was going off, I jumped in my truck and got there as fast as I could, this time it was a false alarm and the deputy got there before I did but I went with the intention and my Glock to see what was going on. If the deputy wasn't there I planned to check it out myself, I would only do that if it's my or my family's property, and I do have one friend I would do that for but no one else. I don't plan to shoot some unarmed burglar at a distance but he/she will probably know i'm there. As far as i'm concerned what they do then determines how I will act and I believe Tennessee law is on your side then and no, it's not just property it's my or my family's property that we earned so I will get involved and don't care who disagrees. If a thief wants to drop my stuff and leave I wont shoot him but it's all up to him/her at that point. There is a protection of property statement in Tennessee law in one of the codes. Like I said I don't know what happened with the thief Trevon and the lady but the fact remains that if the thief Trevon didn't break into her home he would be alive so it is his actions that caused his death, not hers.

What would be really cool is if you could do like the late great Tom Knapp did with a shotgun, eject the spent case and shoot it with the next round before it hits the ground. Do that with a semi-auto pistol and you would really be a bad a$$. :) UGG, of course you would have to be turning 90+ degrees with each shot, better not have an audience.

Crap, his name did have to be Trevon didn't it? This is another one that has potential to start some crap, of course if he came after her violently it was justified but that wont matter to the BLM crowd. Also a big factor, really the main factor of what will come of this protest wise is what race the home owner is. If she's white then it's another Trevon Martin situation, Trevon was a little angle, wouldn't hurt anyone yada yada blaa blaa. They said there was a confrontation, that's the key to this story. To be on the record, I will with hold my opinion weather or not she was justified in shooting him, with the story so far we don't know what the confrontation was or weather she could have avoided it or not.

True also. BUT, I might be careful not to drop a rimfire cartridge on a concrete surface. Saw a video where a guy put a .22LR in a drinking straw, tossed it high in the air over an asphalt street and it discharged. Doubt it would do that from waist height. Here it is. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U4FQgrU2fYk

I mainly got the habit of dumping it into my hand because I have a bad lower back and don't like picking things up off the ground. Well a little of that and being a lazy a$$ also. :) So is there any record anywhere of a round discharging because the person was catching the round in their hand when clearing their pistol? That is the question.
-
That's what I do, I always lock the slide back, just a habit, I do it without thinking about it. Actually the youtuber was an old Yeager video who said it was potentially dangerous. I have heard a few others though.
-
That's the thing though, I don't see it as dangerous myself, some do though. It would really be a freak thing for it to discharge and also I lock the slide back so it's not slamming forward. I just brought it up because I have heard a few people say it's dangerous.
-
Hope it's not a silly question. When I clear a semi-auto handgun, eject the mag., keep the muzzle in a safe direction and eject the chambered round, I have always cupped my fingers over the ejection port and caught the round instead of letting it hit the floor. I'm not scared or worried it will fire if it hits the floor i've just always caught the round. I can do that with no problems in a safe way but I have heard some people say that's dangerous, it's hard for me to see how though. I actually heard one youtuber say the round could go back in the port and the primer hit the ejector and discharge. Really? Does anyone else catch their round when clearing the semi-auto?

Bowing down to the PC police huh? That and their luxury expenses at conferences has burst any bubble I had about the organization. Yep, they need to clean house alright, they need a spokesman or woman to come out with an official video statement and say the "former" executives who ran WWP were in the wrong and apologize to the veterans who need the service and anyone is welcome to use the WWP logo in support the organization. Now i'm far from rich but I put a few dollars into different organizations now and then, I like St. Jude and the Shriners, just hope I don't hear anything like this about them. WWP is not getting $1 from me till I hear and see an official admission of wrong doing.

I have never been asked that, the only thing my health care provider at the VA asks in that area is if I have been depressed over the year. I will always say no, even if I ever was I would never tell them that.

The thug hit in the stomach with the .45 will have to drink his meals for some time now I bet. It wouldn't have hurt my feeling at all if he would have disposed both of them to the dirt, they are a waste of good oxygen anyway. Tell a bleeding heart liberal it's good for the environment reducing the output of carbon dioxide contributing to climate change.

If he really was that dumb and lazy he couldn't hold a job anywhere. Of course there's been a lot of celebrities or athletes who get some fame, make some money then think they can do anything they want. I doubt if any of them are at that store except when they film the staged reality show. I don't know why they still call them reality shows, I guess about 10% is reality, the other is WWE wrestling.
