  1.   I've seen some great picture quality on some big screen Sony flat screen HD TV's, far superior that the days of old like 2 years ago. That with a little extra in a good sound system and it's probably worth it just to stay home. If someone goes to a lot of theater movies and buys concession junk it will pay for itself. You can have as many people as you want to watch the movie, eat what you want at a huge savings, smokem if you got em, pause to go to the bathroom and not miss 5 minutes of the movie, fart if you want to etc.etc. AND, if you want to you can have your tacticool AR propped up by your chair.  :)
  2. This bit Kimble did was funny also.   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9FWOWAz88zo
  3. I was looking at some tactical slings you can buy and many are not that much different than my home made one. Some attach both ends to the stock but I don't think I like that, the way mine is I can easily take up all the slack, makes it neater for storing in the cabinet and carrying around. Also I can let just enough out to shoulder carry. Let all the slack out a carry low ready, I walked around for 30 minutes last night with a full mag and it didn't bother me that much, I had to shift it a few times, I don't think there's anything perfectly comfortable carrying a 12 lb. rifle& mag. on your neck.
  4. Okay so this is home made with just a wide length of webbing but it seems to work pretty good, I just need to take it to the range now. With the Dragonov stock I can use this wide sling and it's comfortable. With all the slack out it carries in the low ready in front of me and can bring it up quick to my shoulder. I had a thinner sling that dug into my neck if I carried it that way very long and it wasn't long enough with all the slack out. Even with all the slack in it doesn't interfere with the operation of the rifle. That Dragonov stock really isn't that bad, far superior to that stupid wood thumbhole stock it came with. 5. Went to that on the Youtube page to read the comments, well, you know how some of those are. Anyway a great commercial, I wish they would show those on TV a lot more. Here's another good commercial I watched on Youtube. I like this guy also.   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K_ReFKjn4u4
  6. Just checking The Armory web site, they have some corrosive Bulgarian 147 gr. 440 rnd. can for $92.  They also have a 500 rnd, pack of Wolf Gold 148gr. non-corrosive for $180. Big difference there, I guess the extra cleaning is worth the savings.   http://www.the-armory.com/shopsite_sc/store/html/762x54r-148gr-fmj-wolf-case-500rds.html
  7.   Yea I had to completely take down the bolts and scrub them, not from corrosion but the Hopps oil I coated them with the last time. Everything was sticky like half dried varnish.
  8.   I have a big tackle box for a cleaning kit and have everything from wheel bearing grease to a fruit jar of 91% rubbing alcohol along with all the usual cleaning stuff, Q-tips, pipe cleaners, dental pics, solvent, Rem oil, choke tube grease, silicone cloth, along with a big bag of rags and folded newspapers etc.etc.etc. I guess i'll now have to add a small fruit jar of ammonia diluted.  :)     Cause i'm still going to shoot the cheap stuff.
  9.   Ever peed on the campfire? It stinks.
  10.   So basically clean it like a black powder muzzle loader? How about a little Dawn and water first?   As for the second part, that might be somewhat difficult. Maybe if it was at least a 30mm weapon.
  11. The other night I was cleaning my Glock, I know, Why? Anyway since I had all my cleaning gear out I thought about running a patch down my 91/30 and M44. The last time I cleaned them months ago I "assumed" I scrubbed the crap out of the barrels, used solvent at first with a brush, then shot a lot of Rem Oil down the barrels as to wash them out and wet patched them several times and finally got white dry patches from them. I then lightly oiled a patch and sent it down the barrel for storage. Well when I ran a wet patch, Rem Oil down the barrels of both it came out a little brown. A little black doesn't bother me that bad but I don't like brown at all. So, they got scrubbed again the same way. Now my MAK90 and 10/22 and 30-30 came out clean. Now getting to the subject of ammo, I get these Shooters catalogs and they sell some Wolf ammo and a few others that advertize as non-corrosive but it's a lot more expensive than the salty surplus stuff. Anyone know of any surplus 7.62x54 that isn't corrosive that wont break the bank? I guess if I have to shoot that stuff i'll have to swab the barrels more often or maybe do what the Ruskies did in WW2, clean them with diesel fuel and motor oil. Maybe that's the trick. It would be nice to have some affordable non-corrosive ammo, not to neglect my cleaning but something that wont promote rust so bad.
  12. I'm sure there's a lot of good defense ammo but I've been buying Hornaday Critical Defense or Critical Duty for just about everything now. I don't think you can go wrong with it.
  13.   HAA  HAA. You must be joking, get a .45     :)
  14. I made 2 thick leather belts a few years ago and attached d-rings spaced out just right to mate with the clips on web gear suspenders, I also made a pair of leather suspenders with clips to work with them. They are still fed through the belt loops of your pants. Of course I hide them under a shirt, those web gear suspenders might get you funny looks in public. I'm going to make a new set but i'm going to use webbing for the suspenders. If you tote around a Glock 21 all day the setup really makes a difference and you don't have to torque your belt very tight and no one ever see's it anyway. 15.   It's a lot of gun, been carrying a 21SF gen 3 for years now, when I pick up a full size 1911 it almost feels like a compact. I always said I wanted something more compact but the last time I was in Royal Range in Bellvue I was really checking out the 41 witch is an inch longer. Probably give my ammo maybe 100fps more and more accurate. Me thinks me like the 41.  :)
  16.   I refuse to feel sorry for any of them if they get dead doing a home invasion, they get what they ask for. I'm writing this with my Glock on my side.
  17.   That's a pricy one too but not as much as the S&W I checked out. Seems that the .22 mags are more expensive than their .38's.
  18.   I looked on their site, it's a pricy one though. Probably get a Wolff replacement spring kit for it.
  19.   A pretty rear? If you're talking about an all female police agency i'll be sure to look.
  20.   I would still want to keep it a small caliber for her though. I actually took a chance on her NEF .32 and snipped off the first two coils on the end of the hammer spring and made it a lighter trigger pull. I did that because I bought the gun in the 80's for $160. I wouldn't have done that to an expensive gun. Anyway it worked out well and I have fired over 100 rounds since I did that, there's still a good strike on the primer. How about a S&W Airweight with a trigger job in .22mag.? do they make an Airweight in .22 mag?
  21.   Another known fact if it isn't a Glock it just wont work, it will jam all the time and just break after 50 rounds.   We like our gun myths here.    Now if you ever buy a Ruger revolver you can reload your own ammo with C-4, it will handle it.
  22.   The only advise I gave him was to study the carry laws and don't buy a weenie 9mm.  :)
  23. Here's a good video, definatly more velocity and seems more accurate and faster on the tree he shot.   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dvbsxk8jmWE
  24.   Well there will come a time in the not so distant future where she wont be left alone much, she's not going to ever go to any assisted living home if I can help it. I was able to keep my dad home and he left this earth in his own bedroom surrounded by his family, the last week of his life I slept in a recliner chair in his room to maintain his oxygen and breathing treatments so i'll do what I can to keep mom in her home but for right now I want her to have something for protection when she is by herself. Just making sure she has something she can operate is getting harder.
  25.   For myself I would like to have a carbine but like i said it's not on my top priority list, a new carry handgun is priority right now when I can afford it. I have a bad habit though of spending my money on electricity, water, cable and internet, property taxes and vehicle registration ect. ect. Maybe someday I could break that nasty habit.  :D I could always make trades but like trading cars with dealers you don't get the best deals, also I like what I have right now too much, i've always been bummed out later when I sold or traded a firearm of mine.
