There is no excuse these days for a 9mm to be bulky or clunky.

McCain to criticize Giuliani on guns
K191145 replied to 2000silverz28's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
If Rudy Giuliani is the GOP nominee, I'm staying home election day and storing some guns and ammo in sealed containers and hiding them. Maybe I'll go and vote for a write in but IMO, Rudy Giuliani would be no different than Hillary or Obama. I couldn't hold my nose tight enough to vote for him, I'll just prepare to survive the next 4 years the best I can. -
Well, I can't comment about bulky since I started carrying a Glock 21SF. It took a while to get comfortable with the grip and I hear the old 21s were even a bigger grip. Ruger has the reputation of having the toughest revolvers, I guess that goes with their auto's too.

VCDL - Manassas City Police Abuse of Authority
K191145 replied to TGO David's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Well this explains it right here. New England blue state liberal mentality. -
I will likely get another 1911 some day when finances permit, perhaps a no frills Springfield Mil Spec and start from there. A buddy of mine really likes the Ruger P series autos, I'm not at all familiar with them. Anyone else like them?

I have one with a hammer also, it's the absolute toughest little snubby there is. Mine has a strong DA trigger pull, soon I am going to buy a lighter spring from Wolf Springs and install it. I keep it loaded with .357 158 grain semi-jacketed HPs, I always feel well protected when I carry it.

A few months ago I traded in my full size Kimber 1911 for a Glock 21SF. Now I would have kept my Kimber but it was a $$ issue, I loved to shoot the Kimber, it was the most accurate handgun I have ever had but I hardly carried it. The reason I wanted the Glock soo bad was because of their reputation for reliability. Frankly, I couldn't trust the Kimber not to malfunction on me,(not going into full battery at times), Now it was reliable if I kept it wet with oil, fired quality factory hollow points but the occasions where it did fail didn't give me full confidence in it as a carry weapon, I know I could have gotten it tweaked a little by a gunsmith. Also I never cared for grip safeties, in a stressful situation with a fast draw one may not get the perfect grip and the SA trigger pull was too light for a stressful encounter IMO. I have had it double fire a couple of times because of the recoil and light SA trigger. I wanted the Glock21 because 1st, 13 rounds of .45 instead of 8, 2nd, toughness and reliability, 3rd, a not soo light DA trigger with takeup, 4th, don't have to oil it every week weather I shoot it or not, 5th, still good accuracy although not as good as the Kimber. I checked the chamber and it is fully supported, I have also been firing quite a few +P Honaday 230 grain HPs with no problem. That's what I keep it loaded with for carry now. I will not shoot re-manufactured ammo and I know not to shoot lead bullets out of it. I'm sure some will think I'm crazy or stupid for trading my Kimber for it but my motivation was practicality, I mean what good was the Kimber if I never carried it.

I had the disc between C6 and C7 in my neck removed March 12th and the vertabreas fused together, I know what you are going through friend. I think mine is working okay but I have a bad day every now and then but that's after I do some work I shouldn't be doing right now. Be careful about yard work etc. I should take my own advice. What really sucked is before I got the herniated disc removed I went to the Cheatham range and shot my Moisen Nagant and had a sharp pain like a knife run through my neck and down my arm, bad enough to end my session. I was afraid I wouldn't be able to shoot any long gun with any recoil anymore. I haven't tried it out since then, I'm going to be very bummed if it still hurts. I already had to quit skydiving in the 90s because of my worn out back but it never hurt my lower back to shoot rifles and shotguns, only my upper back and neck.

So I got pulled over in Franklin...
K191145 replied to bteague2's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
A simple solution would be if a felon is caught carrying he/she serves hard time just for that charge. Like you said, carry permits are not going to stop criminals from carrying anyway. -

K191145 replied to bteague2's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Before the Cheatham Co. Sheriffs got digital radios I used to listen to my scanner and when listening to a traffic stop the dispatcher always told the officer either negative or positive on handgun permit. -
If you don't mind me being sarcastic here, my proceedure to clean my handguns, well all my guns is first and foremost make sure the gun is unloaded before I start to disassemble it. I believe that would greatly reduce any chance of accidental discharge no matter what the firearm is. With my XD I always lock the slide back and visually look in the chamber then push the take down lever up and ease the slide forward then pull the trigger. Even then it's always pointed at the floor.

Park Carry Bill May Be In Trouble

I thought Buck was a 2nd Amendment supporter. Or is he just one of Naefeh's butt kissing cronies? -

I also e-mailed my Rep Sunday night and actually got a response from him Sunday night. That's impressive to me, I'm glad I voted for him. Now checking on the bill today this is what I found. -
I have 6-30 round mags. I want to get a few more, maybe I'm paranoid but I have a feeling AK mags may be hard to find some day. I was listening to Colonel Hackworth on FOX a while back before he died, he told a story while in Vietnam he and some men came across a dead Vietcong, he had been dead for many months or a year and he dug his AK out of the dirt. It had rusted and was caked with mud and dirt. He said he forced the bolt back a chambered a new round then emptied the mag of about 20 rounds on full auto just to show the men what the AK was famous for. I seriously you could do that with an AR.

I'm assuming it's a WW2 era. The only thing I have heard about Japanese firearms is that they only have collector value. I have heard that function and quality they were junk. I saw a Tales Of The Gun episode once where some guy had a Nambu pistol that had the sear on the outside of the pistol, he touched it with his finger and it fired. He made a comment that probably a few Japanese officers shot themselves in the leg holstering this pistol. Now if it's new then I have no idea, I haven't seen any new Japanese firearms.

I've gotten alot of enjoyment out of it. Here's a question, not exactly about AKs but AK magizines. Is there any truth to what some say that if you leave magizines loaded for a long time it will weaken the springs? I keep them loaded for the next range session but I haven't shot it in over 4 months.

Here's my e-mail I just sent to the above reps. -
I bought a MAK-90 in 94 for $450, fired several thousand rounds through it with no problems. I know it's a cheap Norinco but it's surprisingly accurate out to 100 yards. I don't know what todays prices for one is.

These two seem to still be alive right now. SB1597 passed the Senate. Don't know what the deal on this one is. Nafieh killed one just like it a few years ago in his a$$ kissing sub committee before allowing a floor vote. He called it, and got the local media to call it, "The Guns In Bars Bill" just to scare niave people into believing it was something it was not. Don't know if that means it's dead. Looks like it passed the Senate today.

SB1597 Bredesen supports "Emergency Gun Confiscations"
K191145 replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
So did it pass Nafieh's royal permission in the house yet? I check the state legislative web site but it confuses me more than informes me. I hope it's ready for Bredesens desk. I still haven't forgiven Bredesen for his original opposition, he knew very well what that bill was about all along. Now lets pressure our reps into passing bills that ease restrictions on carry permits such as being able to carry in parks and in restaurants that serve alcohol. -

K191145 replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Either Bredesen got an earful from Tennesseans and decided it was a bad political move to oppose this bill or he has a secret little deal with Naifeh so he wont have to even touch it and try to save face. If it fails in the house then I like the idea of painting state Democrats as gun grabbers, still a bad political move for them. I recieved this e-mail this morning from my rep. -

I believe the next election, Naifeh's up for re-election. Everybody should really get involved weather you are in his district or not to campaign against him. I like the idea of campaigning against any Democrat running for Governor and let the state government know that when the Governor turns his back on his employers it has ramifications for all in his party. We shouldn't wait either, or be too nice and polite about it. Politics isn't nice and polite, to beat them we have to crawl down in the mud with them and fight.
