  1. And I am sure at the time a whole bunch of crazy people said liquor stores would get shot up by people...haven't seen that happen yet...(at least not by law abiding HCP holders.)

    Matthew

They screamed when the shall issue law was first passed saying wild west shootouts would occure and they scream every time a new law is passed concerning HCP's and firearms. Thing is, when this becomes law and after some time they will forget about it. The media's attempt to cause reactionary panic only works for a short time.

I don't know about anyone else but I'll be glad not to see Ronal Serpas's ugly mug on TV sticking his nose into state legislation, he's getting as annoying as Nafieh.

  2. I think that was pre-Bredeson.

I think you are right, that code was changed in 2001 but I do remember something concerning firearms he refused to sign or veto. He also had missgivings at first about signing the law that prevents law enforcement from seizing firearms from citizens during an emergency, I remember that clearly but he saw what a political hot button that would have been for him. Anyway, we will be done with him in 2010.

  3. Sems all these topics go in the same direction, huh.

Well it's just a hypothetical situation anyway, so far I've been able to avoid esculating a situation where I would have to draw or show my weapon. I have also discovered that since I got my permit and started carrying, I avoid getting into bird flipping contests with anyone on the road simply because I don't want to esculate a silly situation into something more serious.

  4. One on one, you better fight first then kill the SOB. The jury will go threw it with a fine tooth comb. Multiple people around then yes you could say you where in fear of your life and be justified. Your wording is everything in a situation like this. I would recommend asking for an attorney when the police arrive just to buy yourself some time to calm down. You can always explain yourself after asking for an attorney. All it takes is for you to say the wrong thing and you are going to the pokey!

I remember when I took my CCW class many moons ago, the instructor, an ex-cop advised us that if we were in a shooting situation to have a medical situation when the cops arrive such as hyperventilating and chest pains as if you were having an anxiety attack. They don't know if your having a heart attack so they have to give you medical attention and if the ER gives you drugs such as a seditive any statement you make can't be used in court.

    That's what he advised.

  5. I really like my Stoeger 12 guage sxs Uplander. I don't know what anyone thinks of Gun Tests Magizine, they buy and rate guns and have no advertisment so they claim they are not biased on any Maker. They have always given Stoegers a good grade, quality for the price is their main factor.

  6. I'm gonna punch him square in the throat and run like hell. Honestly this is why, as many instructors and such here have said, you need to be prepared to handle some situations without a gun.

Know how to defend yourself and get away, carry pepper spray, etc.

OhShoot and others may have an easier time relaying threat. I'm 6'4 180 pounds athletic and 24. If it's one on one I guess me and ole boy are tusslin' for a bit.

I often carry a small can of pepper spray, I wonder, if you use the spray and still have to draw your handgun, a jury or DA might believe that you tried non-leathal force first and may be more sympathetic towards you.

  7. Ain't it purdy??

$65 at the Goodman show around 12 years ago. M-44 Carbine made in Poland, has the smoothest,(no machine marks) finish on a Mosin I have ever seen. I cleaned and revarnished the stock and touched up the bluing on the magizine and bayonet. With good ammo I can/could put 5 rounds in a 5" circle at 100 yards with sights only, the kill zone for a deer. I'm sure the rifle is more accurate than I am. Recoil doesn't bother me at all because mainly it's a heavy old rifle. It is without a doubt the best value for a gun purchase I have ever made.

Now I have the urge to take it to the range this week and shoot it again. :D

  8. Remember their original action design was in 1891, millions were mass produced by Soviet block countries and some by Remington and Westinghouse to arm the average commie infantryman so they are a no frills duty rifle but they did their job. That being said back when my brother was a big hunter he took his limit of bucks with one shot for three years with a Mosin with no scope made by Remington between WW1 and WW2.

  9. OK, Ford is not a viable choice, so who is/are the potential replacements for Lamar? Is anyone considering running?

EDIT: It appears that Lamar crushed his oponents in the last election.

Winner: Lamar AlexanderLamar Alexander Rep. 1,571,585 65.2% Incumbent

    Robert D. Tuke Dem. 762,778 31.6%

    Edward L. Buck Ind. 31,536 1.3%

    Christopher Fenner Ind. 11,038 0.5%

    Daniel Lewis Ind. 9,306 0.4%

    Chris Lugo Ind. 9,102 0.4%

    Ed Lawhorn Ind. 8,949 0.4%

    David Gatchell Ind. 7,613 0.3%

    Marsha Marsha Marsha Blackburn?

  10. I agree. I just wrote him again, but I already knew he didnt represent us.

I wrote Lamar an e-mail about voting and speaking against CIFTA and I recieved a generic response e-mail back. It read as though it was a campaing ad with no mention of CIFTA or anything current so it had been written by, probably a campaing worker long ago when he was running for Senate. Also when I wrote him I had to fill out some info and include the title, gun control issues, so I bet a simple computer program reads that and sends the proper response. I seriously doubt he reads any e-mails or even cares.

Maybe, the people to e-mail should be the Tennessee Republican Party to express our dissappointment in him and some others. I didn't recieve any response from Corker. Personally I believe it's a waste of typing writing directly to them.

  11. There's a link from your URL now, dunno if there when you posted, goes to:

    Bill Votes

    that shows who voted how.

My man Armstrong stayed unswayed ... I hope we can get him the hell outta there next time around.

I see my Rep. Phillip Johnson is strongly on our side, I hope he continues his carreer in state politics or maybe a run for Congress some day.

I tried to find a page that reported Senate votes on these bills, I would like to see how Barns(D) votes on these. He's the one who the state democrats decided the peoples votes didn't count and was appointed to run on the ticket un-challenged even though Kurita won the popular vote in the primary. I'll refuse to ever e-mail him about anything, I personally don't recognize him as State Senator.

I also assumed that Williams was going to be a Nafieh clone, it seems as though I was wrong. I wish Nafieh would loose the next election but it seems that he's insignificant right now and that pleases me, it must eat at him.

  12. It's been on my wish list as many other guns are, I've wanted a .357 Sig gun with a .40 barrel that can be converted with a simple barrel change. Don't know if a spring change would be necessary also. The only auto's I've had were the common calibers, 9mm Luger and .45 ACP. Had a .380 and .32 and .25 in the past.

  13. It is there to keep people from putting magazine conversions on the "civilian" shotguns.

The way I usually bypass it is to just drill out the detents, then clean up the inside of the tube for the holes with a dremel.

Trying to dremel out the detents is too big a PITA. When you reassemble the tube and put the magazine cap on, you can't even see the holes.

Done this about a dozen times for my guns and customers and friends.

I actually grinded mine down and it works well but it took some time. When my nefew is ready to work on his I may go with the drilling method.

  14. I took the poll yesterday and the results were HEAVILY in favor of the bill. Perhaps they took it offline when they saw that! LOL

I wouldn't doubt that, their story was so one sided last night. Just calling it the "guns in bars bill" shows their agenda.

  15. Sent this today to both Corker and Alexander.

To the Honorable Senator Alexander of Tennessee:

As a gun owner and NRA member I am very concerned about CIFTA President Obama wants to sign and the Senate to ratify. The Constitution and Bill Of Rights is Ours as citizens of the United States and not to be infringed upon by the government of the United States and especially any foreign governments of the international community. CIFTA opens the door for abuses and infringement of the 2nd Amendment and I strongly urge you to vote against ratifying CIFTA and ask you to speak against and urge your fellow Senators to do the same.

    Thank You.

  16. Oh I agree 100% but unfortuately most will bend over, grab their ankles and spread their cheeks.

Some will I'm sure but I really think we will be surprised at how many will not obey this registration scheme. Many people are getting fed up these days with government intrusion and I think the time is ripe for a revolution, starting out as a non-violent revolution against the government. I was surprised at how many people attended the tea parties and just wait till the 4th of July, we will see more protests against the government by ordinary citizens.

First I wonder how they will try this. Most likely with new firearms purchases that may pretty much halt new gun sales but what about the 300 million firearms already in circulation, and those that many of us have traded and sold through private transactions. Are they going to send everyone a Federal Firearms Registration form to list all our guns and serial numbers? Actually it would be fun to partake in a public protest where we all could burn our forms in public. I believe within a year or so we will see a demonstration with ordinary citizens, not some leftest hippy activists like in the past, really get serious about telling the government who really is supposed to be in charge. The movement is growing, more and more people are getting more angry by the day.

  17. Jeez, Mike...the 911 switchboard there was jammed, people really freaked out, thousands left their office buildings, really disrupted commerce if nothing else.

But think of all the folks who lost loved ones on 9/11 and their understandable reactions.

I really thought it was stupid, insensitive, disruptive, and even dangerous.

    It also cost over $320,000.

A copy of PhotoShop is about $600.

I think it's a pretty big deal, not only was it stupid and cruel, it shows the hypocrisy of his administration even if the Messiah himself didn't know it was going to take place. Some of the people he chose for his administration knew it. Either they were insensitive to the people of NYC and didn't care or they were idiots, or both. He can no longer lecture CEO's about flying to hearings in their private jets, at least their flights were for a real purpose.

  18. I don't see it as a huge thing. He's going to vote however he's going to vote, regardless of party. From what I understand, he's switching because he doesn't want to risk losing the Republican primary to a real conservative, like he almost did last election.

I just want to see if he turns out to be "Too conservative" for the Democratic primary, or if he wins the primary then loses the main election to a conservative.

In the meantime, the Democrats have a year and a half to do alot of damage to what's left of the United States.
