  1. Here's a good link to check out. Handgunlaw.us
  2. In many states that do not recognize a Tennessee carry permit may allow you to transport your gun if it's locked in a case unloaded and in the trunk and the ammo stored seperate from the gun. Be careful of big cities like Chicago that may have their own regulations. If it's not concealable then you have to check the state's regulation on open carry.
  3. I have to thank you for starting this thread because in jogged my memory about an old Springfield/Savage model 187M .22 semi-auto rifle I have in a case under my bed that I forgot about. It's designed to shoot .22LR and .22 shorts. The only thing with shooting shorts is that you have to push the bolt handle in to lock it and shoot them single shot only but you can have the tube magizine full. You just have to cycle them manually. I forgot about it because the inner mag tube was lost long ago but I remember that I found one online a while back but didn't buy it. I found it again and I will order it and put the rifle back in service. Savage 6J / 87J .22 Inner Magazine Tube Assembly | e-GunParts.com=
  4. Alot of it depends on your local District Attorney and how he/she feels about the situation. I wouldn't want to kill some dumb punk over some tools, you never know, he might be the rare case that grows up some day and actually becomes a decent person but if he's dumb enough to pick up a crowbar and come after me he's getting shot.
  5. Yea, I noticed that .380 is hard to find these days but you had more variety of makers, HP's, +P's etc. in the past with .380. Is the 9x18 that much more powerful than .380?
  6. Sounds like a computer program decided what form letter to send back. Probably picks up on a few keywords and sends what it thinks is the appropiate response. I wish there was a decent challenger to his seat in the next election, unfortunatly he's a big name and most people don't bother studying the candidates all that well.
  7. I wish my Makarov was a .380, 9x18 is very limited in what you can buy. They are a no frills gun, the decoker is hard as hell to engage but mine is very reliable and to me that's the most important thing. If this was a thread about regrets I would talk about the Colt Python I sold some years ago.
  8. It's smart to keep a weapon in another part of the house unless you wear your primary weapon all the time. A cheapo fits that need often, that's why I put the NEF 32 in the drawer under the TV in the front room. I have no kids but when my grand nefew comes over I put it up high on the shelf. I'm thinking about one of those clocks that you can mount on the wall and hide a pistol in.
  9. Army-Navy surplus. There used to have one in Bellevue. I haven't been to the 21st ave store in a while but you could buy alot of cool stuff there.
  10. There is always some confusion about the USE of deadly force, say in a situation where you hear someone breaking into your tool shed 100 feet from your house. I've understood the laws as saying that you can confront the person yourself but what do they consider deadly force? Simply pointing a gun at the burglar or actually shooting him?

  12. I'm assuming most all of us has some cheapo's, the very first handgun I ever bought, not telling my age then, was an RG 22 DA revolver for $50 off a friend, still have it. The second handgun I ever owned was a $60 Raven 25 bought at Friedmans 28 years ago, traded that for two decent tires. Still have an RG 22 single action with no ejector pin and left handed cowboy holster and belt for $30 at a yard sale, a piece of coat hanger works just fine for an ejector. And many years ago I bought an NEF 32H&R mag snubby for around $200 at Friedmans. The finish wore off and I tried to re-blue it myself but that didn't work so well so I just took the finish completly off except the cylinder. It had a hard crappy trigger pull untill yesterday when I dug it out of my cheapo case and clipped some mainspring off both ends and now it has a nice trigger action. I shot a few cylinders today at my brothers and it shoots great. I've shot good groups before in SA so it's accurate. It's a butt ugly gun but I think I will place it as a home backup under the TV. Just because it's a cheapo doesn't mean it's not a shooter. What's your favorite cheapo"s?
  13. I turned them off too, just sick of hearing about it and the stupid comments. I'm sure there will be a whole new round of news stories come July 14. If I'm going out to eat and I see a "no guns" sign on the door of the restaurant, I'll just go somewhere else. Maybe swing through a fast food drive through, come back and park in their parking lot and eat my burger. If they complain I'll just tell them that I'm not allowed to come inside their restaurant and eat. Worse they can do is run me off.
  14. They have no clue, they're just reacting emotionally with no logic to what the media is telling them. The media are the real sheep herders and it's a damn shame many people still trust them.
  15. You live in Chattanooga, wouldn't you like to see all your criminals and thugs shipped to Memphis?
  16. About 20 minutes from where I'm at, Cheatham Co. WMA has a range on it's property open to the public as long as you purchase a range permit at a couple of nearby stores. Right now I have to stop before entering the WMA and unload and store my carry handgun untill I get to the range. It's a pretty popular range sometimes.
  17. What's funny is that these idiots are trying to portray Memphis as a safe haven from guns on the street by keeping law abiding citizens who passed strict background checks from carrying on Beal St., and at the same time Memphis is 2nd, almost tied with Detroit as the most dangerous city in America. In Pictures: America's Most Dangerous Cities - Forbes.com I have an idea since Nashville is ranked #9, all the decent citizens from Memphis move to Middle and East TN., and all the scumbags from Middle and East TN. move to Memphis and let them succeed and create their own state and make up their own laws.
  18. You answered your own question. They're idiots.
  19. Sounds like a place where a decent citizen really needs ao carry a handgun. The only time I will ever go through Memphis is when I'm leaving the state.
  20. If the New Madrid fault let loose again and destroyed Memphis, it would cause billions of dollars worth of improvments to the state. Lake Memphis State Park.
  21. They can't ban guns on a public street, peroid. I wish I was younger when I had bigger cojones, I would have a friend follow me with a video camera, conceal a large peice of inert metel under my shirt and walk down Beal St. and refuse to be searched. Anything that happens between me and some private security guard would be plastered all over youtube and lawsuits would follow. No one has the right to wand you for no reason on a public street.
  22. Well how about this as a thought? Dell, GM, Nissan, etc. are large companies not owned by any one individual but really by stockholders, in a way their company sits on public property, the public meaning the stockholders. Can't really refer to those companies as private businesses.
  23. Yea I thought about that also being private property. What I would like to see is a bill that would allow HCP holders to lock their gun up in their vehicle in the parking lot when stopping at the post office on their way home. It's a real inconvenience to drive home just to secure your gun and go back to the post office, or park at the Sonic next door. I don't know if a state could pass a law that would over ride a federal regulation.
  24. Well I hate waiting till then, just have to stick to state parks for right now. I may take a ride and walk in Harpeth State Park(Narrows of the Harpeth), this week.
