Bought some 9x18 Makarov hollowpoints.
K191145 replied to K191145's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
Sporting Arms about 1 to 2 miles up Charolette Pike just off I-40. I saw one box left, I have a feeling he wont sell it too soon, 9x18 doesn't sell that quick, I assume. -

I will fire a couple of mags at least. Mine has fired those Wolf Conical shape FMJ's with no problem and all the other ball ammo. They are rated at 1000 fps and 95 gr. Better than .380 -

At Sporting Arms in Nashville on Charolette Pike. Used to be Gun Mart. -
I thought I was stuck with either Wolf or Blazer FMJ's but I found some 95gr. Hornaday HP's today. I'm going to carry the Makarov for a while, I haven't fired any of the Hornaday's yet but the Makarov has never malfunctioned on me. They are a little pricy, maybe not by todays standards. $18 for a box of 25.

Same here except for the mag extention. I had one but it was a cheapo and started to bind up. I would rather have 4 that cycle. What ever I carry that day is what I have on my nightstand that night. I've been carrying more compact lately, my G-21 is just too big and can't find a decent holster for it. It has that Pickitiny Rail so standard G-21 holsters wont work.

I believe America is in for a good House (and Senate) cleaning come November. There's quite a few Dems that need to be De-elected. One that comes to mind is 5th District Congressman Jim Cooper who voted for Obamacare. The time is ripe for some well educated GOP State Rep. or Senator to take his place in the U.S. House. If a Republican can win in KerryKennedyLand, i'm positive there's candidates that can beat Cooper and some other Dems in Tennessee.

I can imagine that somewhere in Russia or Poland there's a huge warehouse with about 10K M44's just waiting for some importer.

My nefew wouldn't want to modify his Mosin's in any way but after a disc removal in my neck i've been thinking about a shoulder recoil absorbing pad. The pad for the Mosin does look like it would take the sting out of recoil. (edit): Thinking about that recoil pad, it wouldn't be any permanant modification though.

When I bought my M-44 in 2003 the dealer had a pile 2 feet high on a table for $65 each. The one I bought was a Polish made and has the cleanest, smoothest metal finish I've ever seen on any Mosin. If I would have known then how much the price would increase I would have bought 5 of them.
-
He also said he bought a couple of spam cans of ammo at the show last weekend and we are going to the range at the Cheatham Game Reserve soon and shoot Mosin's till our shoulder's turn blue.

Yep, take them on a hunt and let them take an animal. I believe they will natuarly have more respect for guns then. Really teach them that Hollywood is just play acting and nothing they see in movies is reality. Love this video. Tough little kid.

My nefew. He has 6 now, I set him up with a Russian M-44 last weekend that my best friend wanted to sell. He's in the middle with his girlfriend and her brother. I told him he should have said "Ready Aim Fire"

That's why I traded in my Kimber, too many failure to go into battery malfunctions. I couldn't trust it although I was more accurate with it than any other handgun i've owned. Someday I would like another 1911 but I want reliability first.

Mounting a holster to the nightstand
K191145 replied to Sean's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Just buy you a cheap Uncle Mikes nylon holster, it doesn't have to be fancy or expensive to mount to the nightstand. -
Merry Christmas B.P. and everyone else. Already got a $50 gift certificate for Freidmans which will make a good down payment on a box of ammo.

I had problems with an 8 round mag in my ex-Kimber but it wouldn't allow the next round to go into battery, ejecting the fired round was no problem. How would the magizing prevent a fired round from ejecting?

Bart Gordon Retiring! One Down; Many To Go
K191145 replied to E4 No More's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
But now it's crucial that Obama's socialist plans be stopped for the sake of the country. I've never seen more dangerous legislation trying to be passed in all my 48 years. It's not just 2nd Amendment issues but they are trying to destroy everything America is supposed to be. Put out the fire first and worry about the cleanup after. I think we are all on the same page, if we, (real conservatives) had the power of millions of people we would weed out the RINO's and replace them then there would be no need for a third party. Most all Libertarian's are former Republicans anyway and when it comes to elections we vote mostly Republican. It can be done, people just have to get real passionate about it. -

I would much rather have had Ron Paul, Fred Thompson, or Mike Hukabee on the ballot than McCain, I just know that the time wasn't there yet for a third party candidate to win and McCain being a RINO was still a much safer choice than Obama, and now he's prooving that every day. Maybe the time will be right some day for a third party candidate but it would take a massive grass roots effort to elect one. There's still alot of people who are going to vote either Democrat or Republican no matter who their candidate is. My hope is that there's enough people that are waking up to the corruption of the Obama administration that they at least put the GOP in the majority in the House in 2010 simply to obstruct anything Obama wants. As far as the state goes, if there was a third party candidate I liked I have no problems voting for them in the primaries but ultimatly I want the most conservative one elected in the general election and that doesn't necessarily mean a republican. As far as candidates for U.S. House or Senate, I'm voting GOP. -

Oh I vote my conscience, it would bother my conscience if I voted in a way that allowed a far left socialist to win, who systematically wants to pick apart the Constitution and convert America into some Euro-Facist type country where there's two classes, leftest elites and lowly sheep peasants. Even if that means holding my nose when I vote. It's not an attitude of helplessness, it's just the wiser vote sometimes. -

Unfortunatly it is reality that a third party candidate will never win and only steal votes from one or the other candidates. Very few have ever won an election. I personally would love to see a Conservative Libertarian have a chanch at any seat but I don't see that happening any time soon. Sometimes it's a question of who is less dangerous and less likely to do any real damage to the state or country and IMO, and recent observations the Republicans are far far less dangerous to America than the Euro-Socialfacist's that's controlling the U.S. Government right now. 2010 can't come soon enough for me. Actually January 2011. My hope is that there's at least a GOP majority in the House, enough division to accomplish and pass absolutly NOTHING, which is far better than completly destroying America. -
I've fired and keep my Glock 21SF loaded with Hornaday Tap 230 gr. +P and i'm perfectly comfortable with it. I'm sure there's plenty of examples of other guns failing, not just Glocks. It looks and feels like a big ugly black brick but I'm used to it, but most important to me is that every round I've ever chambered and fired in it has ejected perfectly and a new round chambered. It also has a 13 round capacity and I can hit a torso size target at 100 yards. Now I'm always thinking about something better but that's just something more compact with a better grip, as far as reliability, capacity, accuracy and punch the G21 has that covered.
-
It actually worked pretty good from the show. Seeing that old ammo fire gave me some extra confidence in ammo reliability.
-
The gun gets taken away because they don't have one in the chamber.
-
Well no one has a problem selling them at gun and knife shows here and they don't try to hide the fact that they are switch blades so I believe you are correct, they are legal to buy and own, just not to carry.

I saw R. Lee Ermy on Mail Call a while back fire a device on either a 03 or 1917 Springfield that made the rifle a semi-auto. It used special ammo, not 30-06. Every round fired perfectly if I remember right, the ammo was made during WW1. 5 year old ammo is new ammo.
