Who do you plan to vote for in the Republican primary?
K191145 replied to 56FordGuy's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Just out of curiosity I checked out a deer hunters forum in Tennessee, they have a politics forum and it seems that they also are on to Haslam being a member of MAIGs and they don't like him either. I'm seeing quite a few anti-Haslam commercials now so hopefully it's enough to keep that phony clown from becomming Governor. -

Who voted for Haslam?? A vote for Haslam is like a vote for Gore, and Jim Cooper, all he gave donations to in the past. A vote for Haslam is like a vote for Michael Bloomberg or Dick Daley who are the leaders of the GUN CONTROL organization Haslam was a member of. A vote for Haslam is like a vote for Jimmy Nafieh, the man who loves more taxes since the first thing Haslam did as Mayor of Knoxville was to raise property taxes more than they had ever been raised. A vote for Haslam is like a vote for a liberal. -

I believe Ramsey is ahead a little. I've been seeing some TV commercials finally telling the truth about Haslam, it's about time. I hope it's not too late for them to work. -
Congratulations, i'm glad to see them on the ball with permit renewal. Mine is due in late December and i'm wondering if it's better to go to the DMV or renew it by mail. I've never renewed it by mail, I know I can use the receipt as my HCP if I don't get the card before the expiration date but you don't have a reciept if you renew it by mail.

How about a campaign flyer with hot bikini clad women holding AK's and AR's standing next to a grill full of BBQ ribs and some T-bones and a cooler full of Budweiser and a TV in the background playing a NASCAR race? Think that would get a few votes in Tennessee?

Voted for Ramsey, Johnson P., and Blackburn.

Soon after Haslam was elected Mayor of Knoxville, he raised property taxes in Knoxville. I've correctly portrayed him as a "TAX RAISER" to a couple of people. Even if some people don't care about his membership in a gun control organization, they may be concerned about him raising their taxes. Call him Sunquist Part 2. -
I always early vote and take my 81 year old mother so she wont have to stand in long lines in the heat of summer. Well I voted for Ron Ramsey, Phillip Johnson (State Rep.), and Marsha, Marsha, Marsha. The only worry I have about voting for Ramsey is his poll numbers, more than anything I want Haslam defeated and Wamp is closer to beating him than Ramsey. Oh well, I have made my decision, I wish I had the choice of either Blackburn, Thompson, or Frist for Governor but we got what we got.

Good, I hope they run the commercials every 30 minutes. Sling some mud, the dirty politician deserves it.

My ex-Kimber had occasional failure to go into battery type malfunctions, always at the last round of the magizing. It could happen with any mag I had but more often with a pricy Chip McCormic Shooting Star 8 round mag. I changed out the recoil spring from the factory 16lb to an 18lb hoping the extra tension would cure that but it didn't, polished the feed ramp but that didn't stop it either. The most reliable it was was with some off brand cheapo mag I bought at the show for $4. When I first shot the mag the floorplate fell off after the first round dumping the spring and rounds out on the ground. We all had a good laugh at my $4 magizing but one day I actually soldered the plate back on the mag and never had a malfunction with it. I loved that Kimber, it was the most accurate handgun i've ever shot but was real finicky about magizines. I guess i could have had a gun smith work on it but wound up trading it in to get my G21. The bottom line is reliability, if I carry a handgun I want to be very confident it will work every shot. There's alot of guns I want, a .44 magnum/special, a .357Sig, but if I had a grand to spend today I would buy another 1911 but this time I just want a plain jane like a Springfield Mil-Spec or the new Remington.

Chicago's tough new gun ordinance goes into effect

I'm 100% with you on that bud. -
Well i'm voting for Ramsey in the primary but if Wamp wins I will vote for him in the general but as I have said before, I will write in Ramsey in the general if Haslam wins the primary. Between Haslam and McWherter, I wouldn't care at that point. The State Senate and House is getting some good practice at over riding the Governor.
-
It aint over yet, I'm not making any bets on who will win although Haslam may be slightly ahead in some poll.
-
Thanks Leroy, I've been thinking about it lately, it may be a while before I buy a new handgun unless I make some sort of trade. That S&W29 seemed the way I would go if I were to buy a .44 but it's going to be about a year before I spend $600 + on a new gun.

The only reason is his million$$ in TV campaign adds. I really wish people would take the responsibility to watch a debate or search online to find out about the candidates they will be voting for instead of being suckers for their commercials. Unfortunatly, most people were watching Extream Hair Dressers or some other brain numbing crap. They will vote for who's on TV the most. I know all the candidates are BS'ers to a degree but Haslam is obviously the phoniest of the bunch. Whamp was trying too hard to to add drama in his speech, like someone said, McWerter seemed like he didn't care most of the time probably because he knows he doesn't have a chanch, and Ramsey can be a little boring but he's the only choice IMO.
-
I'm not worried about it, I skimmed through the owners manual the other day and there was no warnings about +P ammo and I have fired a few mags of +P through it already.
-
The important thing for me is that, I trust the reliability and accuracy of my G21. I was once concerned about shooting 230gr +Ps through it but looking at a couple of other auto barrels, there's not a noticable difference in the exposed casing at the feed ramp in any of them. All have some exposed casing. If I ever bought another Glock someday, it would be the .357 sig model, whatever # that is. I did shoot a 19 long ago, I remember nailing cans and clays on the ground with it. It was a fun and accurate handgun.

I've always wondered why the .44 Special round wasn't more popular. Looking at some ballistics it would be a good defensive round. A 240gr HP @ 800fps? Some time back I saw a S&W 29 with a 4" barrel that I wanted but didn't buy. Although it's a pretty heafty gun it wasn't too big for a good holster in winter clothing, and there's also the option of .44 Magnum for hunting etc. Anybody ever carried .44 Special for defense? Bulldog or Redhawk or whatever?
-
I was going to mention the Bill Goodman show at the Fairgrounds this weekend but you have your class Saturday. I'm sure there will be some G19s there.
-
When I first saw the guid rod in my G21 I thought that it was something that belongs in a Matell suction cup dart gun. I had to convince myself it was okay.
-
Here's the link for the new Remington 1911. http://www.1911r1.com/ I really want another 1911, I miss my Kimber but I want a RELIABLE 1911. I don't think you should have to spend $1000+ for a good 1911, the Remington or a basic Springfield would be the two choices I would consider.
-
I have a copy of the sales reciept in my wallet of whatever handgun I'm carrying at the time. Don't know if that would satisfy them enough not to run serial numbers.
-
I know the type, and then they whine about malfunctions. All my handguns have a good deal of holster wear, I don't think you can keep them too pretty if you carry and shoot them alot.
-
I thought I had handguns I would never sell and wound up selling/trading them when I got the itch for something new. Sold my Kimber Classic Custom and got the Glock 21, I want another 1911, a more reliable one. Thinking someday of a Springfield Mil-Spec, heard some good stuff about them. The one I could really kick my own butt for selling was a stainless Colt Python some years ago. I wont say I'll NEVER sell any guns I own.
-
I usually load my G21SF with Hornaday Tap 230gr +Ps, I've shot a few mags of them before, of course with no problem but today I loaded it with some standard pressure Federal Hydro-Shock 230gr. My G21 is fairly new, was there any change or improvment in the headspace on them? I've been told not to shoot reloads and know not to shoot lead bullets but no warnings about +P loads.
-
There's also, "Failure to go into battery" which I used to call a "Failure to feed". Had those often with my Kimber.
