  1. My brother had mentioned that, since it's already damaged I guess it wouldn't be a sin. The grips are in excellant shape, I guess they are the old bakelight plastic, some pretty tough stuff. The springs seem okay, I didn't dare take the sideplate off to look at the trigger spring. Nothing is loose, the cylinder locks up tight when the trigger is pulled, tighter than most new revolvers. I don't know if my brother would spend the money to re-blue it, maybe some day I could make him a trade.
  2. You are right about that.
  3. They do have a 1st. Amendment right to ASK, they however have no right to know. There is no medical reason to know if there's guns in a home unless the guns were infected with chicken pox. It's none of their damn business.
  4. My neice gave my brother(her dad), this old Colt Police Positive 38. She or he didn't do it but some dufus many moons ago took what was obviously a wire brush to the frame around the Colt decal, it has some serious scratches. There are some in this world that deserve a good b-slap. I gave it a good cleaning, mechanically it's in great shape, the barrel has some pitting but I wouldn't hesitate to shoot it. It doesn't chamber .38 special but it shoots the 38 Colt or 38 S&W Long so it's a pretty old piece. With the damage done to the finish I don't think it would bring much value but it will be a fun but expensive plinker. Can't wait to shoot it. Sorry for the poor quality photo.
  5. Nice.. I was surprised how accurate the Norinco scope is on mine, makes it more fun to shoot than my MAK90.
  6. I remember one of the instructors in my HCP class advising us on at least 3 things that should be met by the perp before you decide to use deadly force, intent, opportunity, and CAPABILITY. I too make assumptions that certain people are no threat because I am bigger and stronger physically, I need to stop thinking that way. I knew this dude in high school that was at least a foot shorter than everyone else and thin but I didn't want to pick on him and anyone who did learned not to quick. That's because he was mean as a snake if picked on and didn't care who you were. Aggressivness and meanness, and just not giving a damn has it's advantages. A poteat girl with a blunt weapon can kill a big man if she's mean enough to do it, that makes her CAPABLE.
  7. I get a Sportsman/shooters catalog in the mail every now and then, I noticed that sales of any knives with a blade over 4" is restricted in TN., also break action and electronic ignition muzzel loaders. Those are the only two items restricted in TN. You can order all the high cap mags, ammunition, AR and AK accessories you want to. Kinda silly you can't order a good hunting knife. Maybe we need to e-mail some reps and get a good knife de-regulation bill passed, that's if anti-gun Governor Haslam would sign it.
  8. G21SF in a home made pancake style holster, (because it was difficult to find a holster for a 21SF with the huge Picitiny rail).
  9. +++++1 I would bet that if it were possible to do some kind of report on regional racism/bigotry it would be close to equal in all areas of the U.S. Also, bigotry isn't confined to race only, I know some self rightous liberal elitists who I would consider bigots. Also, see how you are treated in Chicago Midway Airport at a food counter if you are a southern white with a heavy southern accent. Maybe that's just Chicago, not being bigoted towards Chicago.
  10. One thing most LEO's probably realize is that because you have a permit you went through a strict background check and since you informed them, the possibility of you being a dangerous person/criminal is very low. How many dangerous criminals fake a permit and inform the officer they are armed?
  11. This is so lame, and the sad thing is is that they(CNN) think people are actually buying it. A sadder thing is, some dolts actually do buy it. Dramatic CNN news reporter Rob Marciano (tropical storm Irene) while people ar just walking by.. - YouTube
  12. Well the good side of this is that a good number of people will finally realize what the lame stream media is really all about. Their about ratings, controlling people, and their political agenda and will over dramatize and manufacture(lie), and hide or omit information for their own gain. They have 0 credibility with me. They are the way they are because millions of DOLTS enable them to be that way. Hopefully quite a few people will finally wake up.
  13. A ban of "CLIPS" that hold over 10 rounds never bothered me. I've told anti-gun dolts that i've never had a "CLIP" that held over 10 rounds nor do I know of any.
  14. Aww man, I was going to offer you a Wilson Combat 1911, Colt Python, and a Holland & Holland British double for it but since you wont trade it I guess i'll have to pass on it.
  15. I always considered the long double action trigger pull on a revolver was it's safety, needing no other safety's except a hammer block. I just don't see how someone can have an accidental discharge with a revolver unless they have it cocked but knowing quite a few humans in my lifetime, I know there's some really dumb morons out there. I wouldn't be shocked to learn that he actually kept it cocked but i'm with East Tn Patriot on this, he was probably playing with it which makes him no less a dumb @$$. Also the .410 slug is not that impressive of a round, if I had a judge I would much rather have it loaded with .45 LC than .410 slugs. Still gonna hurt if you shoot yourself in the leg with one though.

    Revolver to Auto

I am far from an expert on the issue and never had to pull my handgun on a person, on a charging dog once but didn't have to shoot the poor thing because hesheit was on a chain I didn't see. (soapbox sidenote: dogs chained all their life to a tree are usually and understandably mean, please don't do that.) Anyway, I chose my G21 because it shoots a big round, reliable, and holds 13 rounds. I always thought that I would most likely never need 13 but I always believed in the, "better to have too many than too few" philosphy. When I really started buying and shooting handguns it was in the early 90s and all the gun magizine articals got me into a .45 mindset but i'm slowly changing my attitude. I have never felt underprotected when I carried my SP101 in .357 and lately been thinking about a GP100/4"barrel, still a bulky carry gun but that never bothered me that much. IMO, the odds of fighting a mob of people are far less than taking on a single or maybe two assailents and what I like about a revolver is that they are ready to go, no manual or grip safety, a longer trigger pull (harder to shoot yourself in the a$$ under stress), and reliable. I guess if I go the revolver carry route in the future the smart thing would be is to shoot a few thousand rounds through it, practice defensive scenerios and get good with it.
  17. I did a Google search on WWB ammo and found many comments about how dirty it shoots. Some dude on some gun forum had the exact same result and concerns with it, I think he was shooting an XD. Anyway, the ammo functions good, i'll just expect it to be dirty shooting ammo.
  18. Well thanks, it just seemed burned more than other brass I have fired out of autos. Probably because of the "unsupported part of the chamber" on the Glocks but I hear that helps them go bang every pull of the trigger. Also I have mostly shot Federal target ammo out of it and haven't noticed that bad. I keep it loaded with Hornaday Tap 230gr. +P for carry, I have shot a few mags of that through it but it's high dollar ammo so I don't have alot of range time with it.
  19. Maybe i'm a little paranoid and it's just cheap bulk ammo but, when I shot my Glock 21 today at the range today it seemed that the empty brass was burned on one spot from top to bottom more than usual, or I just haven't noticed it that dirty before. I picked up some .40 brass someone had shot out of a handgun and they didn't look nearly that bad. I guess I just want someone to tell me not to worry about it. I do have a pic.
  20. More fun with para-cord.
  21. I don't think this violates any copywrite to post, it's from the TWRA website.
  22. Been there quite a few times and yes, it may be a good idea to take some kind of "frame" for a target, i've seen their frames pretty trashed out not hardly capable of attaching a target. And bring plenty of your own paper targets and a staple gun, some people must think there's targets available there and while I don't mind sharing while i'm there but I don't have enough for everybody. All the people i've encountered there have all been nice and at least experienced enough to be safe, everybody has always been in agreement and follows range hot or range cold rules for changing targets. And I have never seen a warden come by to check range permits but i'm more than glad to pay for one if the money goes to the WMA's. It's a place to shoot, it may not be the nicest or most modern range but you can have some fun or sight in your rifle for deer season. Reloaders can always find some good brass laying on the ground also.
  23. Before permits, I understood that to LEGALLY transport a handgun in a car it MUST be in plain view. unloaded with any ammo stored out of reach. Even without a permit it is legal to have a handgun in your vehicle, if not everyone without a permit who buys a handgun is breaking the law when they take it home or to the range. Same with a long gun. I don't recall anything that says it has to be in a case either. This story is just one more example out of many examples why you can't believe anything you hear on the news. They are lazy and don't care about facts and truth so they speculate on stories, and they have a political agenda so they omitt important facts, or fabricate their own facts to mislead what they consider are the dumb sheep. Local news is only slightly better than national news but you can see they do the same thing. The internet is much more reliable these days in giving you factual news than the TV.
  24. I lurked for a couple of minutes yesterday but didn't sign in so I recon then. Anyway, everything seems fine.
