  1. OK so we make it work another way. 22 to vote, enlist, whatever...Why 22? We redo our educational system and make evey student that is capable go through grade, middle, high, and at least 2 years of college. If someone chooses private schools fine but everyone gets the opportunity. No teaching agendas. Stick to a curiculum that is agreed to (There is one of the hard parts). Now we all of a sudden (In short speak) have a populace coming up that is educated on par with other nations. No more need for any h1b visa holders to work here. Now we can start teaching morals and ethics as well as real life topics in our schools. One more caveat I can think of, If you drop out, no further assistance from the government! Ever! and you forfeit your right to vote!
  2. They are entitled to their own opinion anytime. Opinions cannot be restricted. Expressing them however can be.
  3. It is ridiculous to allow students to do anything like a walkout without consequences. It teaches the wrong things. If the reason for the walkout is worth the punishment then go for it. Learn how it is going to be in real life once you leave the school. Walking out of work for a protest will have consequences. It may be points towards attendance, suspension, or even termination. This are the real effects your decision to leave may have. Why would we not teach that to kids now? No matter the reason for the walkout it should have the same effect as a real life job would.
  4. Yes I have been in schools, for the last 30 years I have seen myself, my spouse, my children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends children work their way through the schools. I have seen abuses on levels that would make you cringe. I can even show you TV stories on some of them. Kids bullied for their beliefs by both students and teachers. Administrations that are obviously biased in both directions. I have rewritten this several times and finally have decided not to get into it as we all know how that ended last time. So feel free to live in your world and I will continue to get the sheep glasses. Funny how I have never had a sheep go back though after being shown reality is not what the media and schools portend it to be. So yes you and I disagree. However I am speaking from reality not books or what I think it is, I have been there done that, served my country, parented my kids, and live a good clean moral and ethical life. More people should do that these days.
  5. I ain't no lawyer and have not stayed at a Holiday inn Express ever. But I know a bunch of kids that need to hear the truth and bee held to a decent standard of behavior when I see them. The left liberals are teaching them all this crap and it is an agenda. Removed God, added ogbtabcz. Teaching hate while blaming the conservatives for it. Time for the retaking of the institutions that are charged with teaching our children. Don't like that, don't like where we want our country to go, well please feel free to leave. No more shall we have in, from henceforth we are taking this land back. Perhaps that is what some need to hear. Kids are just that, kids. Walking out of school is not to be condoned. Get together in the proper time at the proper place yes, telling them walking out of school just teachers them they can ignore rules. Just like the protesters that block streets, we do not care that you protest, hell, we might even agree, but it is where you choose to do so that is the issue. Enough is enough, stand up now or pay the price later.
  6. When it comes to children I disagree. If they want to be heard they should follow rules for it just like adults or be prepared for the consequences.
  7. It is all about the fifteen minutes anymore. That is also a complex party of the ongoing issues that lead to the shootings. But that does not fit the left's rhetoric or agenda.
  8. Welcom to TN! We like it just the way it is so no changes needed or wanted.
  9. Cool I will have to check more often
  10. Oh and by the way guys, I think what you are doinig here is "discussing". Since we are "Discussing" Give us some ideas on what you would like. What would you consider as far as a universal BGC? Sales restrictions that are "Common Sense", Permits, safe storage? After all we want to be part of the soution not part of the problem after all. I am open to any ideas but prefer we give othing away as far as our rights go. I just happen to think there is a way to come up with something that both sides happy.
  11. My wife and kids will tell you I am way past starting on that trip! However i like to think I can be realistic and crabby at the same time.
  12. Again, I never said compromise or conceded did I? I said discuss. I think basic comprehension for themis always tough so being able to tell them to go to hell and make them happy to be on the journey might work! Yeah I know look at the unicorn timmy!
  13. I certainly hope we can find one. If not then we are truly doomed. Not a wish for this great country
  14. Perfect prrof that the protesting kids are clueless and just following the Media and left wing anti gun agenda. So how do we get around it? Realize that they are kids and ignore them. They have no say yet. Very few of them are of voting age and even fewer of those mature enough for the privilege. We need to be having discussions with someone that will listen and discuss. The lawmakers! If they do not want to listen then we need to mount a campaign to unseat them! Seems like it is a simple process if not long and difficult to actually put into effect.
  15. Exactly. So if we are not open to discussing and they are not it is done just because we are hard headed and cannot move past the previous insulting rhetoric. Them we are truly past the breaking point. Very sad that neither side can grow up and get past pointing fingers and claiming it is so the other guys fault. Here is a novel idea, find someone else to discuss the topic other than the vapid brainwashed.
  16. See that up there ^^^^ that is why we are not making headway. I mentioned it but gave no specifics as a point. You would not even listen or attempt to understand what I was goin gto propose! If you have a closed mind then there is no way to reach you. That is the same thing you are accusiong the other side of. There can be universal BGCs that are in no way infringing your right other than 5 minutes to run it. It should be no cost and non intrusive. No details recorded on either party and just a receipt number given to prove a check was done only if successful. Now keep in mind that is the basic idea at a very low level. Now if you are not willing to discuss it that idea can never go anywhere. Hmmmm OK so you do not want to discuss but they do. So, they get the ears of voters and we get mrore anti laws. Perhaps even trying to outright ban them all. Which is of course what they want but alas you chose to be unwilling to even discuss it. Therefore you hastened the very thing you hate. Logic is escaping me how that makes sense i the bigger picture. Try to set aside the rhetoric and passion and look to the future. Discussion is needed on all topics but especially the hard ones.
  17. I showed the other night but alas the crickets were the only thing I found.
  18. I think a lot of folks need the chill pill. From both sides. I understand both arguments but just disagree it has gotten so far as to say we will not have a discussion. Does that make anyone feel better or think they are at a higher level than the other side? Nope, hate to tell you this but it soiunds more like a childish reaction. We understand the frustration however if no discussion is allowed or partaken by you and you no longer want to participate then stand by to lose it all. I am not for anymore concessions either, period. However there is a lot we can offer. Greater minds than mine can state what they are. Personally I am OK with universal background checks in some manner. Anonymous, not registered, no serial number recorded, as well as a few other items. I am also understanding of the age discussion. Most kids today are not mature enough for most of life's issues more a less a firearm. However moving the age to 21 raises all kinds of areas of concern and it is an issue worthy of dfiscussion. Oh well, maybe we are getting close to the line of no return faster than I was hoping. if that is the case I give it 2 years at most before the break up of what was once a great country. History repeating itself over again.
  19. For those that are saying they want no discussion, do you then think we have reached the point of no return? That the Soap and ballot box are no more and the only box left is what is needed? I would like to thinkk we are noot quite that far gone. So we should practice fair and respectful discourse with others as we would have them do with us perhaps? If we close our minds and mouths and say nothing more than "No" we have lost. I think there is more we can do myself and will continue to fight for our rights with all I can. We may yet reach the point where the bullet box is needed but we are not there yet!
  20. hmmm sounds like both sides are not willing to talk. So how do we get beyond that! If both sides keep saying the same things as stated above there is no reason to think we can have any movement or understanding. If that is the case we are all just headed towards the cliff. Having a conersation has to ove beyond "No, my way is the only way!". It is not about guns and the anti's need to be made to understand that. It is also not about the gun owners being responsible either. There is plenty of blame for both sides even if most do not want to admit it. Arguing that the 2nd is a complete right to own anything anythime anywhere is not goinig to cut it these days, that is just reality. Yes, it sucks. Arguing that all guns shoould be banned is not going to cut it either. It is also just reality. So focusing on the root causes of these events needs to happen. Getting the passion out of the conversation needs to happen but is very difficult to accomplish. Afterall, the anti crowd is blaming the gun. They are not blaming the car the shooter used to get to the event, nor the clothes he wore, or the food he ate that morning but all are related. What everyone needs is a deep breath and listen for awhile. Some restrictions on buying guns are OK to me. Very limited but I think as a society we need some. However, restricting the people that follow the law is not amongst those. We should not allow guns into the hands of people that are displaying mental health issues. Period. I do not think anyone convicted of a violent crime should ever have their right to a gun restored. One chance is enough when it comes to human life. So how do we move forward. We just saw a story this morning wheree a 17 year old at a sleep over for 13 year olds stabbed several children andthe mother. He had been reported an investigated by the FBI previously. Hmmm anyone sense a pattern here. So start listing out the links of chain in all these events. Lack of LE to get involved correctly or handle the issue correctly, ease of access to a gun or other weapon, no mental health care safety net, no accountability, recidivism, hell the list can go on forever. The point is remove any link and like any other event the disaster is averted. This is really not all that difficult to grasp the real issue is that the anti crowd likes to never waste a good tragedy. That means we do not have a recving ready audience. So we need to get the audience ready to listen before we can do anything else. I would applaud the person that figures out a way to get the anti gun crowd to listen to a reasonable layout of the causes. Until the interaction and root cause analysis happens we are destined to jkust see more of these events as they are self feeding! In other words stupid is as stupid does on social media.
  21. I see people do this a lot. Handle a firearm without checking. I will always check a firearm whenever I pick it up and will hand it someone with the action open so they can check it. That is a pet peeve of mind with gun shops these days. I can't tell you how many times a cleerk will hand someone a gun from the cunter or shelf and never look into it. Usually barrel first while sweeping other customers. Another family burying someone due to failure to follow common sense. Sad.
  22. Another scripted media moment brought to you by the Anti crowd. Kids being brainwashed in schools continues. Teachers find a few that are maleeable and thn us them to get the other kids following them because it is the "Cool" and "In" thing to do and runs counter to what authority wants. That is a powerful combination for kids that have no clue they are being manipulated. As for the "We have to be part of the conversation" crowd. Well dang son, when have we not been. What that comes down to is we need to use the same tricks the other side does except we are a little higher in our own ethics and refuse to use kjids that way. That is the tough spot!
  23. And the overriding question of where are the parents? I am all for standing up for oneself and practicing free speech. However just like protestes blocking streets these things have consequences. If parents would actually step up and teach their children rather than let the schools and tv/social media do it we might get somewhere. In my mind a lot of the problems today can be traced to that lack of parenting. Kids today at 2 or 3 years old are using tablets. Now if it is controlled and educational that might be a great tool. When it is you tube videos uncontrolled by parents for hours and hours a day that is a problem. As for these walkouts I am thinking the little ones need to learn that actions have consequences. Suspensions are failing grades is one of them. Parents stepping in is another. There are other ways to make your voice heard. I think a lot of them are doing this for the attention and then their fifteen minutes with a chance to get on camera or you tube and snapchat and all the other social media. It is how the kids live these days.
  24. What are laws for? To control the populace massive? Statutes are written by those that are in positions of power. So they write those statutes to purposely serve themselves and those that pay them. Very sad for our country and the citizens. Only way to fix it is to remove those people. We need term limits. If out elected officials will not do as the people wish we should elect new ones. As for the school zone law, well, it is a good example is it not?
