  1. Darn kids, got up late. Gave kid my stand so he would have the best opportunity. 45 minutes later, bang, his first deer! Nice 8 point. So his fat, old, out of shape dad helped dress it, drag it to truck, get it home then hang it in tree. I am now kicked back with cinnamon rolls the wife made and coffee. All in all a good day.
  2. I saw two squirrels fly by. Gave up on the idea this morning. I have a ladder stand I was going to be in. Bad idea as it is moving a lot. Fat, old, bad knees in a moving stand 20 feet up. Hmmm. Nope.
  3. I do not disagree with most of you. Yes we have a system that has been corrupted. We need to educate folks so they understand the truth and to Ugly's point the journalists will not help as they are just talking puppets at this point. So how do we get the message out? Internet? And sound like any number of fringe idiot groups out there? We cannot use statistics as they can be manipulated to say whatever you want and most folks are dumbed down so the raw data would go right over their heads. Big question time here folks? Have we slipped too far to get back? I tend to think we are right on the edge and it could go either way. To tip it the way we think it should go is going to require a lot of hard, ugly work. To get there we have to start yesterday. Can we get it done at the ballot box, because the soap box is gone over the deep end. Only thing left from there is the bullet box. I do not think we are quite that far yet. Again, where do we start?
  4. And to make any gains what do we need to do first? We must get rid of the career politicians. Not just for the gun rights fight but for all our other rights. Has this country gotten so stupid as to not recognize the problem? Some say it has, I hope and think it has not. There is still a chance. You and I will not see the change. Our children might not, but hopefully our grandchildren will. So other than posting on the internet what do we do. Create our own political organization and use it to fight these people? Well we see how that has worked so far. These are smart people we have to deal with. Most studied community organizing and how to here the sheep. They have done nothing else. They use that to their advantage. Perhaps we can break the paradigm that is so engrained in the sheep but it will be a long hard fight. I am not the person to lead this for a lot of reasons, temper chief amongst them. I am not a good one to handle stupid, it is just not in me. Ignorance can be fixed by teaching, apathy through coaching, incompetence through training and skill leveling, but stupid cannot be fixed. So guys and gals where do we start. I will help as much as I can.
  5. If you really think it will ever be ended or even should be I am really concerned for you. Utopia is apparently on a different planet because it darn sure has not been found here yet. Yes I agree it is a feel good waste but in reality it is not going anywhere. Play the cards we have. Mistakes long ago led us to where we are and it will be impossible to get back all we have lost. Like Zed said "Sucks huh?"
  6. Care to share the source for these numbers? Interesting statistics. I tend to disagree with the connection to the drug way. It does not explain all of it and none of the mass shootings. Either way feel free to not support the NRA if that is your choice. Makes no difference to most folks.
  7. I have several of the P938 and P238s. My wife and daughter carry the 238 and I carry it when I have to go to our office (Strict dress code makes a full size a no go). I carry a 938 always. Usually along with my Sig 1911 full size. I have never had any issue with the 238 or 938s. My son also carries a 938. The other is a ruger fan and carries a LC9S. I like it but am a 1911 fan so I went with the 938.
  8. My issue and concern is that I am human. Since we have the tool why not make it work as it should? Good points and questions raised and I sure do not have the answers. This latest nut job in California had been reported for shooting many times, and the result, Nothing, cops walked away. now there are 5 people dead. I understand not punishing good people for actions of bad people but a BGC is not a punishment of more than a few extra minutes and a few dollars (Yes I have a problem with paying for it) but I also understand the need. Ask this question, fifty years ago you could walk into a sears and buy a gun and walk right out. Not a lot of mass killings. Today, it is much more difficult to purchase a firearm legally and yet mass shootings are increasing. Now personally I tend to think it is related to the instant mass social media we have and the over abundance of mental health issues. Since I think that is the case I am good with BGCs as it is a very small inconvienence for me. I think part of the solution is to take a hammer to 95% of the cell phones and tablets. Kids do not go out to play anymore, they are on the internet all day. Been that way for the last 15 years or so. Kids are no longer being raised at all rather thrown a phone and left to their own. That is a serious problem. I see it with my own grandchildren and discussed it with my daughter. Kids are now getting rationed on the tablet usage. Keep in mind this is a 2 and a 4 year old. Dang, at that age I was kicking kittens and eating dirt. That right there coupled with what our kids see on the internet and movies is a big part of the problem. So, do we ignore the mental health aspect of mass shootings? Heck no! And if we do not ignore it then we should at least get it under control on people buying guns. I know that is an ideological issue for some but it is reality these days. Perhaps we can work back to when the guns laws were much more lax and we had less issues but I for one doubt it. Is there anyone that really believes we will see a time we do not have to have NFA rules anymore? Once a right is restricted it is rarely given back. Sad, but true. In this case there is no further restriction being imposed and it could lead to no more if we handle it right. Worth a shot in my mind. I guess as I have no wool and am not a sheep I am not going to be herded. By either of the extreme sides.
  9. Point is there was no compromise. We gave up nothing and got nothing. If it does keep a gun out of the hand of a potential mass killer without effecting you how is that bad in any way?
  10. You lose nothing in this. If you lose nothing how is it at all negotiating rights away? I understand your stand on not losing any further rights but this is nothing more than enforcing existing law. Do you really think you will see gun law repeals in this current environment? If so I would say good luck at best and you are dreaming and deranged at worst. Not that most here would ever disagree with getting rid of gun laws. Most of us would but we also understand futility. Give it some time and we can talk about it when there are not warm bodies still. That is never good optics.
  11. It will not change anything for most. You will not spend more time waiting on a check to go through. So again how is this negotiating rights away? Not to say it is not worthless and a waste of money though.
  12. When is enough going to be truly enough and Gun Shops start policing their own? Dang, this is not a difficult concept. Safes are cheap insurance. If nothing else it could have prevented any of those guns being used to harm an innocent.

  14. Ya'll been peekin at my persnal to get dun lists! Stay out of my head! Honey, we need more of that there durned metal foil sheeting stuf! And remind me to clean out the crawl space.
  15. Atn X-Sight II HD 5-20. Great night scope. Found them brand new at the Savannah GA gun show couple weeks ago for $450. Could not resist.
  16. indeed, happy birthday! Semper Fi
  17. That is actually one of the best times to negotiate. You give me 5 dollars and I will only take 5 more. Otherwise I will take 25. They have done it well to us for years, now it is turning. Take what we can while we can get it and keep right on taking. Saying you will not even talk is not getting the most that you can. Give up something you could care less about to get more of what you do. I will give you a dog park and you will give me constitutional carry. Ok maybe we will not get that good a deal but it makes the point.
  18. While I think we are not in a position to give anything up I think we should engage in discussion. Not doing so will get you nowhere. Plan ahead and negotiate an agreement that adds in that no further restrictions can ever be added without making any past agreements null and void. I am over simplifying obviously here to make a point.
  19. Now where did I say give anything up? Negotiate does not mean give something up. That is the first mistake. Remember, tact is the ability to tell someone to go to hell and make them happy to be on their way. Negotiation can be accomplished in such a way that you come out ahead. I am willing to give a little. I will trade off getting rid of restrictions over purchasing wait times or limits on the number of guns I can purchase in return for making us use a database to check firearms being reported stolen. Now, both of those are good for us and implemented correctly gives nothing away. Negotiation can be used for good results but when you outright declare you won't negotiate the other side wins by default. Negotiate but do not give in, Outlast them if nothing else it keeps the status quo. Sad but true.
  20. Get higher in the tree. Lol. It has seemed tougher this year. Lots of wind and not from the usual directions. I have been thinking of moving a stand due to it.
  21. Then how do you expect them to negotiate with you? Seems they have the same stance. A lot of people have suffered due to being unwilling to negotiate over the decades. If neither side will negotiate then nothing will ever change. We all know that nothing ever stays the same so I would recommend a different tact.
  22. Wow. Spelling? Really. Ok I am not sure if everyone is aware on this board. You will see errors in spelling from me frequently. I am on a small screen most of the time and I have Parkinson's. Not a good mix. Lol so please forgive Mee for that. Now. I could TIE my shoes at four years old. My grandchildren can. But I know a lot of kids that cannot walk around the block without a rest due to parents using TV and internet as bad sitters.
  23. I am heading out now. Screw work, I need a break from idiots.
  24. This is also try of many other things, immigration first among them. But logic is lost on most people these days, it gets lost in translation from reality TV to social media. Most of the younger people in our nation are now officially the dumbest generation ever, which is sad as to they have the tools to make them the smartest. Time to take hammers to phones and tablets and computers. Give them books paper and pencils. I am ashamed of what I see anymore. 4 year olds that can sure the net but cannot tire their shoes or feed themselves. They can use a tablet to watch YouTube but can't play ball. Wow!
  25. It is more about making it a little more difficult. What you described would take a little longer. With a glass door they can smash and grab in seconds.
