  1. I am a retired marine/sailor, Wife is a retired Sailor. We have and will continue the battles. We check everything we procure for the made in USA label. Picking one's battles is a great thing but expressing your desires to a congress critter is pretty painless regardless of the battle. As I have mentioned in previous posts it is hypocritical to want to carve out a deal for your special interest while wanting to cut someone else's. Seems our politicians need to learn that again.
  2. Words escape me. Does YouTube just automatically suck people's brains out?
  3. Like anything else best bet is to start early with known expectations and a lot of love. We have to fight so many outside influences it is difficult to say the least. Kardashians Housewives of.... Jersey Shore... Miley crazy Brittany... The list goes on and on. It is hard as parents to maintain any type of morals and ethics when our children see the junk online and on TV. It is difficult for our children to attend school or other functions without having the latest stuff to be cool. Seems that we have a lot of tough choices, the no brainer though is to love our children and provide them with reality checks about all of the ongoing drama they encounter. Or send them to a convent and even that is not a concrete thing nowadays.
  4. I also do not use any of it but I will still fight for OUR rights. If we do not fight together they will take all our rights slowly over time.
  5. Having raised a daughter and had to live the issues with internet and phone I can sympathize. Not easy these days. Momma and I decided early on trust but verify was the key. We set boundaries and explained clearly what they were and the repercussions for crossing them. Having two older brothers helped a lot. They were protective while not getting involved. I am proud of all of my children as they seem to have grown up well. Some of the folks here have met my sons and I hope they have purported themselves well. That is one of the differences for us, we were raised in a different age. Back then any of our friends Mom's would have back handed is as needed and let our parents know about it. Now most of the time people are afraid to speak up at all. Good luck and hopefully it goes well. As for the 18 year old, well we had a chat with anyone that showed up to date our daughter. Informed them I was a pretty good shooter, showed them some of the videos of when I still shoot matches. Then informed them we were into reptiles, snakes, rats, lizards and such. That we had friends with alligators. Then showed them pictures. Only one of her dates ran off and even she admitted it was no loss as he was kind of a nervous Nate anyway. Through it all try to keep humour involved though. We found it helped break barriers and open communications.
  6. DS I do not disagree at all! And you have identified the big problem, liberal infestation. Now the word liberal is not necessarily the same as Democrat. It is fast becoming apparent though that the city government's are more and more blue and where they are there is not a good stable safe one amongst them. Problem is they want things that way in the city and we want something else in the suburbs and country. How do we reconcile those differences? Tough question. I have a feeling myself that it is too late. So I have mad a personal choice to move back to the sticks and protect and mine. I will continue to fight the good fight for what I think and believe though. Plan for the worse and hope and act for the best. Wish I had the answers guys but alas I am just an IT geek. I can build you a system but you have to give me requirements.
  7. Gents, please pay attention to your health. This is not a joking matter. I survived a heart attack two years ago come May. Did not seem to be all that bad of symptoms so I put off going to doctor. Bad idea! I wish Doug the best and I am thankful that doctors can do such great work. Get a yearly checkup at least. I will not try to give folks the live better, eat right, exercise speech as I do not live that myself. Just pay attention to your body though. Prayers for Doug and if he needs anything please advise us.
  8. Done. Is there anything he needs, dog sitting comes to mind?
  9. Sorry but this is exactly the problem. Cuts have to be made and sanctions are going in place. No one tells about either until it effects them. Them it is all about the screaming over the dirty politicians are hosing us. I understand the frustration but choosing your vote over a single issue is one of the reasons we have the mess we do. Forget R or D and select a non incumbent. That would send a big message to DC. Problem is we have a country full of sheep that will not grow the teeth or testicles to fire the wolves. So they are let forward as lambs to slaughter. Here is an idea, let's break that paradigm and get a new one. Or you can sit at home and sulk and choose not to participate. Which do you think will get you your wish the fastest? Poop in one hand...... We all know the old saying. Here is a new old saying "Grow teeth and learn to bite, for that is all they will respect." We all know there are Rino and Dino folks in DC. We all know they screw is regularly. Now for the hard part, you going to talk about it all day or do something about it. Because if all you want to do is while and complain there is a coffee shop that would welcome you. Now that is not pointed to anyone in particular the least of which is not the OP. Just a general observation of what society is. Lots of takers and very few walkers. We need the walkers, you can guess what I think of the talkers. A drain on society at best, treasonous scum at worse.
  10. Interesting reading. Turns out gun owners are pretty honest bunch https://www.gao.gov/assets/690/688535.pdf I am thinking that did not turn out how the senators that commissioned it wanted.
  11. I handled one couple days ago no mag disconnect on it wonder if there are different models, maybe a California version?
  12. I think the arms and ammo import being involved is part of a larger picture. Kind of hard to carve that out without looking like part of the hypocrisy we hear about a lot. We do not like it when others do the same thing but when it effects is it is different? Not sure that is a sustainable position. It sucks but we will survive, stock up now, learn to reload, maybe even have to shoot other calibers more. Lots of alternatives to look at for this. That does not lessen the frustration but in this day and age you kind of have to plan ahead and think this is going to happen eventually. Either the way it is now or as a tool from the antis. In the words of Zed "Sucks, huh"
  13. Wow, that bites. A week is a long time sitting. I would have flow the driver back or got him a new truck to use by now.
  14. Not this Baker. https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=https://www.nbcnews.com/news/amp/ncna833321&ved=0ahUKEwimwdmWo73YAhUPSt8KHULhAOIQFgglMAA&usg=AOvVaw2m9gBGil9IIQBuhNpkxHF3&ampcf=1
  15. Can I sue them for discrimination like the gay couple did to the baker?
  16. I know it is coming and I must say I will not miss them a bit. Another form of business tht is failing to learn and adapt to the newer way of sales. I am sad for all the folks that will now be looking for jobs. And for the longer impact it will have on the communities. I also hope they do not go the way of Hickory Hollow!
  17. It is all related to the cyclic range of the politicians. They were home for the hoidays so no more expansive collection of hot air in the DC area to hold the arctic blast at bay. Now they are back it will start to warm soon. Takes a while for all that hot air to collect again.
  18. The r Ruger mkii I got when Dad passed. Nothing new or fancy but it means the most to me and always will. Thanks again Dad! I love the gun but would give them all away today to have Dad back.
  19. Another reason internet shopping is killing retail.
  20. Mine also but I am a touch OCD so it bugs me to see loose ammo. I need it neat where I can see it and count it. Of course being OCD means I check the charge of powder a million times also. So it is safe. Only one can of powder out of the cabinet and by the press at any given time. I know it is slower and bugs some guys but I have never had an issue with one of my reloads. Knocking on wood here!
  21. Very much so. I would like to have a bunch more of the containers but the wife snatches every one I get. LOL I did hide a few though for parts kits and odds and ends. Light oil, vacumn, bury. Works great!
  22. They do. Makes it easier to carry and yes they would fill up quick with large rifle ammo. I find 1000 9MM boxed is able to fit. I also get 800 boxed 5.56 in one. Loose ammo in them does more but I am not a big fan of loose ammo in cans.
