  1. After perusing my collection, I find myself lacking a decent scattergun. I have a break single 20 that is good enough for upland game, but a 12ga pump with a long barrel and a set of chokes and a second 18" cylinder bore for home defense should fill out the last of my "needs." As far as collecting, I need to find an m1 carbine, trapdoor Springfield, Enfield musket, and an 1898 krag. Oh, and the money to fund all of them. :-(
  2. At 2:20 a.m., we responded to a call about someone sleeping [in a vehicle] in the parking lot of a convenience store in Butte," Butte-Silver Bow Undersheriff George Skuletich Personally, I think asleep in the passenger seat is not driving. He was endangering no one. He should have received a loitering or trespassing citation if anything at all. I know that he was technically in control of the vehicle, but I hope common sense prevails.
  3. That was rude... I'm going to have to skip my daily lurking today. Stupid April fools day. Forgive any typos, dustbuster's pic blinded me.
  4. An Army Ranger, a Recon Marine, a Navy SEAL, and a member of Delta Force are sitting around a camp fire. The Army Ranger, bragging about his exploits says "You guys aren't so tough, I once parachuted down, marched fifty miles, and killed everyone in sight." The Recon Marine is unimpressed, and says, "That's nothing, I once made a beach landing, marched 60 miles, and killed everyone in sight." The SEAL is unimpressed, he says "That's nothing, I once swam 10 miles to shore, marched 70 miles, and killed everyone in sight with my bare hands." Thoroughly impressed, they all look over at the Delta Force member, and he's dead silent, just stirring the coals of the fire with his d***.
  5. I know someone has a record of it, it's just a matter of whose red tape head is in whose bureaucratic keister. That's the question. Another is should I get a lawyer to just get this done?
  6. I contacted the border patrol office and spoke to one of their attorneys, and he told me to file foia, and gave me the az supreme ct case lookup site. There was no record on the website, so I called, and the local court, which is where any legal action would have taken place, had no record either. I was released as soon as they realized that I had no clue about the hitchhiker. I think that's the problem. I was released with a verbal "You shouldn't pick up hitchhikers any more." No prosecution, arraignment, nothing.
  7. I'm trying to get an Hcl, and have done everything through the background check. A week ago I received a letter saying they don't have a disposition for an arrest from 2010 in az. I picked up hitchhikers that turned out to be illegals, got stopped by bp, arrested, and released without charge. I tried calling the courthouse in that district, and they had no record of it, and the cbp office I called said to submit a foia request. Any other way around this? Or should I just get an attorney?
  8. I'm hoping my dad puts me down for a progressive press of some type, and my wife picks up some '06 and 303 dies. I'm getting bookshelves for my wife, and a yearling buck I've had my eye on of venison for pa.
  9. There's a doohickey that screws in place of the nipple that will let you use a co2 cart to blow the ball out. Or a ball puller on the end of a ramrod. Or see a gunsmith. Even a reduced charge of powder is a bad idea to get that ball out.
  10. Every time I've been told "That's illegal," I've asked for a law or court case cite. Every time they've been full of it they walked away in a huff, and every time they've been correct, or even in the ballpark of correct, they've been able to show their source, or get me to the applicable bit of legalese in minutes. That said, the liability isn't something you want.
  11. Charmin! Marking trails, tinder, plus it's obvious uses. A paper map to go with the compass. You never know where you might be when you have to get home. A couple of the small bottles of liquor. Pain killer, sanitizer, and it'll make those dehydrated food pouches go down easier! ;-) A survival rifle? Assuming your defensive arms are too large for small game hunting, a small, light rifle is perfect for grilled squirrel or rabbit at the end of a long hike. An analog wrist watch can serve the same function as a compass, or you could have a compass on the watch band. Other than those additions, while I understand one is none etc., you could probably drop some things to shed weight. A couple of candles instead of 2 of your flashlights and 2 fire starters, for example. You have a cooking set... Could you boil water in it instead of using one of your filters?
  12. Back in June, my family and I moved out here to east tn to be closer, (but not too close) to my dad, him being 5 hours away. So last month my dad comes down and (permanently) loans me a substantial portion of his collection. Since he dropped them off, I've figured out that my/his enfield no4mk1* does not like boat tails, but near moa with hornady flat base .303. The garand, I haven't fired yet, owing to the lack of a set of dies for .30-06. The 1903 and m24/47 are moa or better, and my wife may try to lay claim to the '03 if I don't watch my p's and q's. Also on semi-permanent loan is my grandfathers' Winchester .30-30, and great grandpas sxs 12ga. Great times!!!!! Now for some questions- 1--I'm wanting to replicate m2 ball so the ladder sight on the 1903 is accurate out to 435yards (my max range on my property). Any info on that? I've been looking around and all I can find is "150 grain over (can't remember) powder is okay in a garand, etc. Is there a recipe for m2 ball in the ether that I'm not seeing? 2-- great grandpas sxs has a bulged barrel. I have my other great grandpas sxs 12, with a bad lock and stock. Could a gunsmith swap the barrels? ie cut the barrels and center rib from the bottom working of the barrels and weld them on the other one? 3-- How can I ensure they don't rust on me? They'll be shot 2-3 times a year at most, so if dipping the metal in Cosmo is a must, I'll do it. But I will NOT be the one that lets these beautiful pieces of history rust on my watch. 4-- The Winchester is already white on the front half of the receiver, and had the beginnings of rust on it when I got it a month ago. I scrubbed it with a toothbrush and clp, and got about half of the rust off. How do I stop it from getting worse? Thanks for any info you can give me. While I'm not new to guns, I Am new to the humid environment of my new home, and need some advice.
  13. Up here, in Claiborne county, there's almost always cheap land. 23ac $20k I was just looking at. If you are willing to look at virginia, the property taxes may be lower, and as it isn't your primary residence, you wouldn't be beholden to the virginia way of taxing everything you make, drive, and smell. Good luck! Ps. There are 3 farms near me that are on the cheaper side for sale, and if you don't want to work a farm, you could lease it out to partially cover the cost. Just a thought.
  14. While this information is correct, it is slightly incomplete. Since California is a May Issue state, the sheriff can and will place restrictions on the permit. In Fresno county, my in-law's permits said "not valid on k-12 school campuses." It may not get you arrested, but the sheriff will pull your license. And even you can still get a disorderly conduct charge. California cops are famous for that.
  15. The maker forgot to remove the bear arms! They hate that in this state. One of many reasons I'm moving.
