Just asked my brother this question for you he is a LT. for the Highway Patrol they use local shops for most repairs to the vehicle and TDOC inmates to the law enforcement special equipment they do have a few aircraft mechanics all the mechanics jobs the state has are in the Department of transportation and they don't do any heavy work send it all out to dealerships i turned wrenches in middle Tennessee at a class 8 dealership for 6 years till i got on at the railroad and we worked on a lot of state truck so they don't do a lot more than basic mantnace

I drive a diesel that has had a lot of work done to it and it does not smoke drives me up the wall when i see these guys doing this they are trying to make up for what they are short on

We use Northern tool axles at work. We buy the build your own axles and the weld in spindles they have any thing you would need including the 120 volt mig welder if you want to bring it to Nashville I'll weld it for you
