I believe he's referring to slide rails. The little Kahr Cm9 I owned had a set of poly rails above the trigger group and a set of steel rails at rear of reciever, they wore a little during break in and then stopped after a couple hundred rounds.

The unramped barrel and full power DO NOT play well together. Places like underwood have special Delta Elite loads for 10mm available. If reloading, consult the manual, most published data in manuals isn't up to original 10mm specs. Other models from STI, DanWesson, Wilson , NHC, etc....can handle full power loads and have a ramped barrel and full chamber support.

What kind of grip(hold) are you using? I'm a high grip with thumbs forward. I also ride thumb safety with right thumb. I highly suggest riding the thumb safety.

Same here. Primary arms is always quick. AIM is usually 3business days before shipping. Midway is faster to my house. Had stuff on the porch in 48hrs before.

I won't post details but it is a few tenths of a grain over max published .223 data with the Hornady 75gr HPBT match bullet loaded to mag length, it is a compressed load. I only load it in Winchester brass as it is most consistent.

Lots of opinion here as it relates to personal experience. Rightfully so. Every barrel is different. My most accurate barrel is a Odin Rifle Works 18" 3gun barrel with intermediate gas system. It groups my well proven 75gr HPBT over Varget load around .8(10shot group)and this load has shot .6 in 2 other rifles. This rifle will group .5 with 55gr Speer flat based HP varmint bullets and 25.6grs TAC. Long story short, load development and testing is necessary otherwise it's just a guess. Of all my barrels, the 1:8 twist barrels are consistently more accurate across the weight range from 52-77grs.

Aimsurplus.com has $39 lowers. Got 3 last week

That's the exact gun I recommend to everyone as a first or only 1911. Nice score!

Agreed, depending on the persons cleaning habits, this is about the quickest way to destroy a DI gun. Ive seen a few that bleed at FSB when shot.

I ankle carry a j-frame. This is the only place I ankle carry or carry a j-frame. I don't pocket carry, ever and inside the waist is a nightmare with tucked in shirts. My pastor carries, had some death threats a few years back after divulging info to police told in confidence by a member to him, he did the right thing. He carries a LCP on the ankle.

Simple. Aesthetics.

Anyone regretted not using headspace gauges on a new build?
Jct1911 replied to sonusfaber's topic in Long Guns
Yes! Once. I had a case head separation in my first 300blk build. The maker had cerakoted the barrel and some over-spray got into the chamber. It would cycle dummies but the second round fired got stuck and pulled in half. Required a finish reamer to fix after pulling the case(major pita). Had I checked headspace I would have sent it back. -
Before ordering from tactical ambush, be aware of slow shipping times. They've been hit by a rush of customers. I've also read a post about a broken 7.62x39 bolt. Not all bolts are the same.

Fusion will do a 10mm officers build, I've actually seen pics of a few. My only issue is that Fusion doesn't live up to the hype. I'd throw money at a used Cbob( same builder, pre CZ, Bob Serva)before I'd get a new fusion. I've seen an example of .40s&w officers model reamed to 10mm on a STI.

Good enough for IDF last 20yrs.

I did this, once. Got 3 glocks again. The 1911's are still there and I still shoot them better. But sometimes the Glock is a better tool for the job. The little g29 was my answer to the same question. RIA makes a 4" 10mm. I just can't carry a steel 1911 easily. And alloy frame and high pressure 10mm doesn't sound like a good mix. Always wondered why glock didn't produce a G36 type 10mm. I bet the reduced slide mass would cause some issues. Same would probably hold true for a 29s if produced.

I have both those mounts. I'd go AP every time. The SWFA mount is fine, heavy and foreign made.

Doesn't get better than GI as far as am concerned. Nice gun!

Quad rail not aligning with upper receiver
Jct1911 replied to TripleDigitRide's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
I guess I would refer to the screws as anti- rotation screws and not retaining screws. The Nordic rail is a good solid piece for not much money, were $75 at midway a few weeks ago. -

Sorry, I should have added more detail but you figured out what I meant. Glad it worked -
Thoughts on a polymer SBR
Jct1911 replied to Caster's topic in National Firearms Act (NFA) Regulated
I'm in the "what if" crowd. I've seen his lowers, he's about 25mins from my house but I'm still leery about breakage($200 risk). Aimsurplus has anderson lowers for $39 if so inclined. My form ones have been of known quality, just in case -
Quad rail not aligning with upper receiver

Put something that mounts to both rails on it. I usually use a QD mount aim point. -
No "extra" safeties or "extra" controls. Those are my two musts. Price and feature set are next. The Dan Wesson Heritage is the best $1k 1911 you'll find. I like the springfield models in the $600-850 range. Under that, RIA is the only choice I'd be comfortable with. Stepping above the $1k mark STI and Dan Wesson are all I'd concern myself with until you get to Baer money. After Baer comes brown and Springfield custom shop. Then you get to the Wilson, NH, GI money($3k+). I stopped at Baer money for now. I just don't need the "fluff" you get above this level, I need simple, reliable and accurate.
