It does excellent in 8-10" barrels. I have a mega pistol lower(my favorite forged lowers, best fit and finish around) and also a mega SBR. If you don't reload, 300blk is 30-50% more costly than 5.56. The plus side is you can run subsonic, if your gonna poke a hole at low velocity, 30 trumps 22 every time. Subsonic 300blk isn't anywhere near as obnoxious as .223 in a short barrel. I suggest a liner comp or blast shielded muzzle device to push noise and flash forward. I used Jim Timber's Simple Threaded Device prior to supressor ownership, and it works as described. I never used the sig brace either, the phase 5 tube is a tad shorter than a standard 6 position and works like it should. http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00I3SO76Y/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?qid=1440430157&sr=8-1&pi=AC_SY200_QL40&keywords=simple+threaded+devices&dpPl=1&dpID=41ADsb6BgvL&ref=plSrch Phase 5 pistol buffer http://phase5wsi.com/ar-15-complete-pistol-buffer-tube-assembly.html

Don't get much more excited than I am right now!

If getting serious about loading .223, you'll need something to address primer pockets. Crimps are a pain when found on the press. Can be as simple as a countersink to chamfer the crimp out, or swaging tools of various designs. -
How does just a gun in your waistband feel? There are minimal options that give you trigger cover and abrasion protection but aren't traditional holsters. For little guns, the Remora holster works great, I carried one 3yrs straight and never had issues, a belt is necessary though. Some of the cheaper holsters are most comfortable but lack high quality for long term use. The uncle mikes and blackhawk neoprene holsters are minimal and soft and perfectly acceptable.

Trijicon has dropped a bomb on Aimpoint...

I've got 4 PRO's. They are excellent but weighty on smaller guns. I'll be getting 1-2MRO's for SBR and AR pistol use. Just never could justify the $600+ for a h1 or t1. The MRO is showing up for pre-order with the 1/3 mount for $432. -
NHMTG 30 Rd. 5.56mm Mags Discontinued

They will still be made, just under a different name. -
I'm a 1911 guy. I looked really hard at the custom cz's from Cz custom. I went with the Eagle in .40. Zero regrets, from a rest with my loads it'll print 1" at 25yds. The new pricing structure brought the eagle down to the $1700 range. I went eagle because I don't do bull barrels or full length guide rods in 1911's, the bushing design and short recoil spring set up is perfectly acceptable and accurate.

What press should I buy for my brother in law?
Jct1911 replied to MrBrian's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
What's he loading for? What kind of volume? The Lee turret is a solid press for doing pistol ammo in volume and can be used to load rifle ammo after brass prep. On the other hand. Every reloader should have one good solid single stage bench mounted press. -
Samson Evo. Uses standard barrel nut also. Can be had as keymod or proprietary rail sections. Made with 1.56" ID to fit most supressors but only 1.8" OD. I have a 15" and 10", it's an excellent handguard. Click on the lengths at midway and it'll change the picture. Shop around, might find a better price. http://www.midwayusa.com/product/2852128132/samson-evolution-series-customizable-free-float-handguard-ar-15-aluminum-matte

Must be something about 4/17 :) one of my 2 I put in on that date had a draft watermark still too. I emailed and it was fixed in 24hrs. -
Doesn't apply to HCP holders for defensive carry. http://www.capitol.tn.gov/Bills/106/Chapter/PC0606.pdf And http://www.handgunlaw.us/states/tennessee.pdf

Does not apply to HCP holders. Obviously you can't hunt out of season. http://www.capitol.tn.gov/Bills/106/Chapter/PC0606.pdf

Don't be a tight ass. Go to ARP and get the barrel you want. Don't get hung up on twist rate. My original do all rifle was a 16" 1/7. Took yotes at 400yds+ on numerous occasions. Personally I like 1/8 over any of them, my most accurate barrels seem to sport that twist rate .

If I'm gonna carry a 9, it'll be in an appropriate sized 9mm handgun. Wasting a lot of real estate and adding weight in the barrel. Anyone who wants to carry a single action 9mm, get a high power. Also, if I'm gonna carry a 1911, it's gonna be in 45 or 10mm.

And a sling :) Very nice tavor!

Milt sparks if you wanna go really nice leather. Garrett industries if you wanna go kydex with leather liner.

Another +1 on the Daniel defense fixed sight. Not a target sight though.

For the most part a lower is a lower and an upper is an upper(sure there are varying degrees of finish and quality but in general, most are fine). By thicker profile, I'm assuming your barrel is of some kind of combat design, like an m4 or a2 profile. I really like the spr profile barrels(my current favorite being an odinworks barrel). I've also got a ARP 3gun barrel that is just about as accurate. Free floating is a good idea, but not always as big of a ROI, it only reduces variables and allows more shot to shot consistency. But as DS said above, a trigger can make or break the best rifle. I currently use a CMC flat faced 3.5lb single stage, it reminds me of a really good 1911 trigger and has a very short reset.
-
No guarantees. But I doubt you will shrink your groups 50%. I would throw some money at a trigger first, I personally like light single stage. Barrels are tough and with your current results, you may not see any improvement. I would opt for a heavier profile since this ain't a carrying rifle. I don't like longer than 18" on mine. My current match rifle will shoot .6 groups at a 100, that is no small feat, lots of load development and bench time.

The 30-357(formed with 300blk die) and 30-357max(300max cat) already exist. Kind of defeats the purpose of cast and reduced loads if you increase case capacity. The 300MaxCat can get some excellent velocities

I've read a few of the threads on this cartridge over at the CB forum. Seems like the perfect plinking cartridge for single shot. Id have one if it didn't require a lot of work I my part to build it.

FWIW, I've found my Valor with straight 8 sights hits to POA out to 25yds with 230grn ball ammo(830fps) with 6 o'clock hold.
-
It's too fast. I don't think you can get enough in the case before hitting max pressure to get really useful velocity. Maybe work for some folks with modified gun and pistol gas system. I stick to h110, lil gun and a1680.

Won't cycle an AR if that's your intention.

Caster, I haven't seen many here as well versed in casting and its tangles as you are. Seems like you're on the right track, I love the 312-299 in the standard 30's, don't know how you could go wrong here. Can't offer any help, don't own a mosin.
