  1. Ive never hunted hogs anywhere except in texas. Ive yet to come across a sow, boar or piglet that a 223 couldnt take down. The brush here seems to be a bit thicker so id go for a shorter rifle like that 45-70 aint it a bush gun anyways? I will say my new favorite all around LR match and hunting rifle is chambered in 6.5 creedmoor. I took it on a hog hunt last christmas block leave and boy was it awesome.
  2. Same here. But i have a shorter throat and 1/10 twist.
  3. Two factory loads that worked much better than fgmm for me was hsm and adi loaded australian outback. Bugholes vs bigger bugholes. Both well under submoa but the later seemed to hold on average 1/4moa. Im now getting into reloading though.
  4. Ouch. I was expecting better. Also seems you have to hold the press handle down while trying to trim to an exact measurement. I think ill go with that hand trimmer kit instead or a lathe style.
  5. Are you strictly using just the trim die? It says you can adjust the trim with the kit. I was reading using the drill attachment seemed to be more uniform trims.
  6. Ill have to see if those quick trim dies come with collars or if theyre extra. Im assuming i can get locking collars for all of my dies and in the event i only had on turret i would just seat em down to the collar and start up again. Im also assuming because of it not being torqued to a precise number that i should always check before i start.
  7. See now you guys are making me second guess my trimmer setup. I want to make it as easy as possible to switch calibers. If i have my press trimmer set for one i dont exactly feel like adjusting it again. Is there a trick i can do if i end up going that route? Count the amount of clicks and mark its depth where it sits in the turret?
  8. Is there a case gauge for a press mounted trimmer? Or is it a moot point?
  9. Thanks for the all the good info. I went with lee because everything i will need will be within my budget. More for the money so to speak. Instead of sitting on a press with nothing else.
  10. How would i chamfer with that hand trimmer? I watched a quick video of it but didnt hear/see what was used?
  11. I go through 100rds easily at the range through my bolt actions. I also factored in load dev testing. I like that hand trimmer setup. Will get that instead. As for the classic turret kit i havent checked on if its a better deal or not than piecing it together piece for piece. I excluded the normal kit and the kempf lee classic kit based on parts i will not be using. Such as the auto disk powder which i swapped with the ppm and the auto primer system which i will use the press primer or a hand primer.
  12. Im using midsouth for pricing so i can take advantage of their will call. Im also definately going to get another turret head as i dont feel like pulling dies and resetting them. Heres everything ive figured out i need so far except i hadnt added the trickler to this list when i took it and my cart emptied shortly after.
  13. Should i use the auto powder drop on the press or keep it seperate?
  14. I was told to get a bullet comparator. Doesnt that do the same sthing? Also when using either one how would i adjust? Put it back in the press on the seater and adjust my die?
  15. 308 and 6.5 creedmoor
  16. single stage press and mount the quick trim to it for trimming only On the turret press 1)sizer 2)open for powder 3)seater 4)crimper What am i missing? Ill be using a kempf kit lee classic turret and lee single stage. Also buying a scale and calipers. Should i buy a case guage?
  17. Im looking for local reloaders to help with a new set up.
  18. Thanks. I ended up supporting some Rangers and we ended up on range 16. I now have a chart just need to register on post now.
  19. Anyone here shoot at range 16 at fort campbell? I currently shoot at mongtomery county shooting complex. Its a max of 400yds. Im used to having 1000yds at my disposal and range 16 has 800yds supposedly. Can anyone confirm what the targets are set at whether theyre meters or yards.
  20. These do work great. One of the best and often cloned designs. I also use ross schuler brakes besides the miculek.
  21. Thats true especially waiting for a cease fire. And im going to confirm at every incriment. 400yds is a good walk, back home that was about the distance to my 2nd stand down my main hunting trail.
  22. Thats pretty good. I doubt ill stay for 2hrs though but time flies. I just need to confirm my dope.
  23. Do you know how much they charge? Before i got here a buddy had talked about that range but not specifics.
  24. Im looking for a range with atleast a minimum of 400yds. Ive recently done upgrades to several of my rifles as well as changed their diet. Im trying to find somewhere that i cam hopefully lay prone or atleast be able to shoot to 400yds to rework my dope charts. A place that will rent out chronos are even better as i am new here and mainly borrowed chronos and rangefinders. If you know if any local shooting groups that get together at something like above please let me know.
  25. I have two of these somewhere. Lost track of em after just recently getting stationed at ft campbell. They work pretty good especially when you have your wife with you that cany exactly hold out from being bothered by mosquitos if you dont have one of these. They say to dont use em in confined spaces. I ran it in one of my smaller elevated box stands with the windows closed and well it gives you a nasty taste in your mouth but otherwise i think youll be fine. Plus im sure if you breathe mosquitos will run now. I think im going to pick up one of the thermacell lanterns next.
