  1. Not good..........Danger.........Danger.
  2. I'm not real familiar with the 550 as far as disassembling. Were you having problems with it? I've done the rebuild kit for my 650 and it wasn't too bad, but I did it mostly for maintenance and I had all day to do it, so it was not too stressful.
  3. Just got done fitting a ambi TS on a 1911. I really enjoy working on this stuff........a nice break from the norm and therapeutic really.
  4. The NRA solicits donations and membership solely based on their promise to protect 2nd amendment issues only. Therefore, it would be unethical and immoral for them to be anything but a single issue organization. Once the legislation ceased to affect the NRA's mission it should be dropped as an issue for the NRA. Now if they were called the National Constitutional Original Intent Organization, you of course would be correct in your criticism.
  5. Unless they are in city limits that restricts the discharge of firearms they are not breaking any laws. Like the officer made clear, the only thing that can be applied is noise restrictions. Just ignore it unless bullets are directed at the house or property.
  6. I too carry a 5" 1911 often. Milt Sparks and a good belt under a t-shirt gives me no problems with printing, and it is very comfortable.
  7. Welcome. Is it as bad as everything I have been reading? (jobs, housing etc..)
  8. I have a few BDL's and they are fantastic guns. All are great shooters and I had very little trouble getting MOA groups out of them. FWIW, I will add that I just picked up a TC Icon in 308, and I am completely impressed. By far the most accurate out of the box rifle I have ever owned using factory ammo. I'm getting MOA with remington core lokts and I can only imagine what I will get once I start the handloading process.
  9. My deer load is a 120g nosler partition in front of 48.5g of 4350 OAL 3.230. Have not tried lighter bullets since the partitions shot great right off the bat.
  10. First, the only snide tone was your perception. It was just a joke and meant light hearted. Second, you're trying to slap my hand while ignoring the huge elephant in the room that was the article itself. This story gives way more ammunition to the antis and it never needed to happen. My remark (while wrongly perceived as snide) was just pointing out the obvious.
  11. This is a pretty safe challenge. Considering most folks will have trouble holding an inch at 25 yards while holding a stick let alone a gun and while breaking a trigger. Then when you consider most all over the counter guns wont print an inch at 25 yards even when using a ransom rest this is really a no brainer. I have a few custom built guns that are capable of under an inch at 25yds, but to know this I have to use sand bags. To be honest I have no idea what I can do off hand at 25yds since shooting slow fire groups has almost zero practical application for a SD gun.
  12. Not surprised at all. It's kinda a two-fer.........money and a gun. BTW, I thought open carry deters crime???? Sorry, I couldn't help myself based on all the CC vs OC threads here.
  13. The bridge is done!!!!! Well mostly. There are a few finishing touches that have to be done, but it is completely usable. Also, there will be a USPSA match at NTPS this weekend, so come out and play and drive over the new bridge as many times as you like. I know I have a new found appreciation for that bridge.
  14. Jeff (gunsmith at guns and leather) usually has those in stock.
  15. Guilty. Studied at U of Miami in their studio music and jazz program, been playing for a living ever since. Mostly doing sessions but still playing live too. And yes, I've worked with steelharp.
  16. If you have not seen this movie, it really is a must see for those of us who love this country and those that protect it. It is on HBO on demand if you have HBO. It was a little hard for me to watch since I have lost two people close to me over in Iraq. But, I'm glad I watched it. God bless our troops.
  17. No, it's called natural selection and it is a good thing.
  18. 3-5 K on recoil spring. Replace the FP spring every time you change the recoil. Mainspring (hammer spring) approx every 25k. Detail strip and clean it every 5k. If you carry it IWB I would detail strip and clean at least once a year regardless of round count. You wont believe how much lint finds its way into a gun when carried every day IWB. If you shoot only jacketed bullets start checking for barrel wear (accuracy) 80+k.
  19. It's sad when a freakin' guitar player makes more sense than most of DC. Ted is the man.
  20. So it's not a shooter? Just window dressing?
