  1. Cocked and Locked. With the thumb safety on the hammer can NOT fall forward even if magically the sear disappears or breaks in two. BTW, I would not carry it on "half cock" it is not a safety in that respect. That notch on the hammer is there to prevent doubling if the sear hammer relationship gets worn to the point of malfunction. It is not to be used as a carry safety.
  2. We usually run 3 or 4 squads on both Saturday and Sunday. I'll be there shooting Sunday.
  3. BTW, I always thought they called them the "shoot me first!" vest?
  4. I'm not sure about IDPA, but in USPSA I don't think a COF can tell you to shoot SH or WH unless it's a classifier or standards. We can make you carry a prop or something that basically forces you to do one or the other, and we could conceivably do that for every COF. But only an idiot of a match director would do so IMO. I think we are like everyone else in that we come out to have fun and not to suffer.
  5. I think you answered your own question. While I practice SH/WH stuff I'm not a fan of more than one COF per match to test either.
  6. Yep, you can shoot another complete gun in a different division of you can just shoot the classifier.
  7. Yep, just out of curiosity I went down and measured some 40 cals. When measuring 10 in a row the precision 170g black bullets had a difference of .007 and my Zero 180JHP had a difference of .004. I'm sure I could find an even bigger spread if I kept measuring. Tim
  8. .005 is nothing when it comes to pistol ammo and particularly on a progressive press. In fact bullet inconsistencies will be off by that much. Don't sweat it. Go shoot.
  9. Also, first time shooters at NTPS shoot for free. Don't hesitate to ask questions either. Probably the best thing about our club is the talent pool, and the willingness of those incredible shooters to help you. We all want everyone at our club to kick butt with a handgun.
  10. Thanks for the kind words everyone.
  11. He is ten and will turn eleven in Feb. The gun is a STI in 38 super shooting down loaded ammo. He shot his airsoft at matches for about a year learning all the safety rules etc. I made him a deal that if he shot 8 monthly matches without a single safety issue I would buy him an open gun. Well, dang if he didn't do it. He is very excited and is dryfiring most everyday without me saying a word to him. No doubt he will be kicking my butt someday soon (I hope).
  12. This is my son and shooting his first match. http://s589.photobucket.com/albums/ss334/tcdvc/?action=view&current=MySonsfirstUSPSAmatch.mp4
  13. Hey all, Just wanted to post that we are moving our September match from the second weekend to the first weekend so that we can use the 2nd and 3rd weekend to prepare for the TN State match (Sept. 24-26). The monthly match will now be on Sept. 4th and/or 5th. Registration begins at 8am and we start shooting approx. 9am. Second gun starts when first gun is finished usually around 12-1pm for you late risers or for folks who want to shoot the stages again. NTPS Home Page
  14. I see a bunch of guys that fast or faster every 2nd weekend of the month. NTPS Home Page
  15. My wife says that it is not the size of the bullet that counts............................she may be lying.
  16. Just be careful of your lead levels. I know a lot of indoor range instructors that have had their lead levels go through the roof and then got very sick. Three times a week would be plenty depending on what you're shooting, particularly in a basement with normal basement type ventilation.
  17. Yep, I really like Bob's trigger groups. You will most likely need to do some tweaking on the sear spring to get things the way you want them in your gun. But they break beautifully. Also, go to Bob's article section, he has a bunch of great stuff on there to help you tune that trigger after you get your parts. Bob builds amazing guns. I just bought one of his open guns for my son. Tim
  18. Brad is doing the registration and squading so shoot him an email and he will get it right to you. Here is the TN section email and just put it ATTN Brad. Or I'm sure you have his private email would work too. tnsectionmatch@gmail.com
  19. And where in that constitution is it that gave Lincoln the power to wage war against states that want to secede? Once you join the baseball team you can never get out!!!!! I have always wondered what rule of law he used to justify that? And I was born in PA. :-) Sorry I don't want to hijack the thread.
  20. How was it overturned you ask? Well, Roosevelt strong arming congress circumvented the normal appointing process and got to appoint 7 new SCOTUS justices and 70 state Supreme court justices. Then passed SS again and of course they did not say it was unconstitutional.
  21. I think it is important to note that the first SCOTUS that heard the SS case deemed it unconstitutional unanimously.
  22. Before I started doing my own trigger work I used Brazos drop in groups, and as long and your pin holes are square and the pins themselves are good they will work great. He uses C&S parts.
  23. The 5th amendment is an individual right that every person can evoke during any State Court trial and is recognized by all 50 states because they have to. The reason it goes by without challenge is because it has been fleshed out long ago in the Supreme Court. That is the only difference between it and the 2nd. We are just now starting to flesh out the second and as each new case is brought to the court, they will have to rule on each new challenge until it is settled. And at that point there will be zero wiggle room for the states just like the 5th. States have been getting away with infringing on your 2nd amendments rights because they have gone unchallenged. That's all. And depending on the makeup of SCOTUS at the time, that will dictate what challenges will be brought up and by who. And you better hope the court will look at least as good as it does now or we are in trouble since the left does not rule original intent. But make no mistake, after it is settled the 2nd and all of it's subsequent rulings will apply to all states.
  24. Historically we have seen both sides take the position that the constitution limits the power of the Fed only, and does not apply to the states. Convenient depending on your cause, but completely bogus. SCOTUS only will hear cases brought before them and then only the cases that they feel needs attention. So, much of this idiocy has not played out in the courts. The supremacy clause should satisfy any doubt you have about applying the constitution to the states. (and yes I know the catalyst behind it was treaty law but it does not only apply to treaty law hence the AND LOL). The 14th amendment was written to ensure former slaves automatic citizenship and the rights guaranteed by the constitution itself. The right to bear arms does not end at you property line just as your freedom of speech does not. The fact that States infringe upon your rights does not mean they are not still unalienable rights.
